To start off I just wanted to say, I don't believe that melee weapons are particularly bad, I wouldn't say that they're good either, you'll practically never melee a good player, but I wanted to see if the community agreed with buffing melee or potentially seeing some changes down the line.
All of these are suggestions rather than demands, I just want to see melee get a bit of love but it might not be agreed with.
-
Remove collision from bodies that were melee killed, it's very frustrating to lose out on melee kills because you knife someone and get stuck on their body due to it becoming a solid object for 2-3 seconds.
-
Remove the RMB (Right Click) from the knife, and replace it with the much better "Quick Melee button" knife animation, it's just a better right click as is. The current RMB is Slower, and locks your camera on with much more aggression, sucking you into the barrel of the enemies gun for longer, despite the fact that it misses more often, while the Quick Melee Button offers the exact same recovery speed on kill, and chance to miss.
-
Consider doing only one of the following:
-
Make the Left-Click do 100 dmg instead of 60 (Funny enough, the 100 dmg LMB exists in the gun range against the robots) and grant it a small form of lock-on to help it properly land. (The LMB stab can only be used while the melee weapon is out)
-
Remove the recovery animation from using the long stab (RMB/Quick Melee) allowing for chain stabs.
-
Make it so that the moment a knife locks on to an enemy, the knife can no longer miss by someone crouching, going prone, or running through you.
The reason I say to only pick one is because it would likely become completely broken with 2 or more of these changes.
Lastly, and the most controversial of my potential changes would be to make Assassin base-kit to the knife or alternatively rework assassin to grant additional benefits to melee such as faster mantles, movement speed (Or increased stamina max/regen), and knife recovery speed, but you would only be allowed to use a melee weapon with the perk attached and it remains in the 3rd perk slot. This would mean that you have to choose between Stealth or the Reworked perk, keeping it limited to melee only would also prevent it from being abused and becoming mainstream
