Instead of just regular paint, I believe camo wraps (Especially for snipers) would be amazing. Google images -> Camo Wrap Sniper. Obviously the Ghillie One, brown and white would be musts!

Since XM8 fits well with the aesthetic of the game, I'd be fine with its addition under the condition that 5 other guns that make absolutely no sense gets removed (looking at you 1911, Thompson, Kar-98, and Luger)
