With the most recent update, 1.2.18, taking off has become almost impossible as an adult, even worse for juvies and hatchies. It's not just happening to me and my clan, we've seen it in global since the patch dropped.

Yeah, it happening even once in a fight can be a death sentence.
I have some footage of me trying to get a hatchie FS in the air in a place that should be trivial, if people want it. Nothing else as of this patch though.

I'm having this issue as well.
I usually have no issues until my ping spikes to 500ms+
Now I can hardly take off in servers where my ping is at 60ms

Its been happening to a lot of us as well and I never flight glitch taking off I got on yesterday for maybe 10 minutes and got off cuz I couldn't deal with it. there was less than 50 people on the server and yes I know there were probably a lot of bodies around but even with the ss's I had no lag or flight glitch. This only happens when trying to take off I can run around on the ground no problem or once im in the air im not lagging at all its just the take off thats the issue. When taking off my dragon does this little lurch forward that sometimes if im around things like cliffs or trees ill just hit them or it doesnt take off at all and im stuck on the ground.

If you are biled or bitten during takeoff it is an intended feature that cancels the takeoff. If you are not biled or bitten then you should be able to get a restore if it's the reason you die

I think mama mouse is talking about when you jump, it switches between jump/fly animation, but you stall instantly and fall down instead

They never give restores for it they just call it player side lag. This last patch seems to have caused a problem with take off on the main servers its not something that was happening before. As I personally stated before I almost or never got flight glitch as you could see from what I posted I had hell of a time getting off the ground. If I was in a fight and got bit because of that they likely wouldn't give a restore as I died do to being dragged down at that point even though prior to that I wasnt able to get off the ground. We've been told that before since we've actually had a similar situation happen to someone when they couldn't get up prior to being jumped on by stuff but had they been able to get into the air they would have been fine. Any patch they did with flight glitch prior to this patch doesn't really apply here since its a past patch and this is clearly overriding it.

Something in the latest 2 patches has caused this. Most likely some non cleaned up code or just junk that got left in making the code need more time leading to increased desync

The only thing that helps/works for me when this happens is both spamming F as well as W and S to trigger the flight to kick in.
Also to note, logging out/menuing and also restarting does not fix the issue.

I thought it was just me and my bad frame rate yesterday on my IR, but the exact same thing has been happening consistently. It's like it only registers the brakes and not the gas to keep going and actually fly. Tapping F the old fashion way has yielded more results for me, but still a gamble.

What ends up working most of the time for me is waiting an ungodly long time to hit F after the jump. Like, borderline waiting on the animation to change before hitting it. Sometimes it doesn't care, but it's better than just... Not flying.

Just to be clear, if anyone's concerned about "jump key is the same as air brake", I use space to jump and my mouse button to slow down, and still get flight glitched despite them being two separate keys

If he Jao kept it in there's a debug in the flight glitch that allows him to gather data on why it happens atm
That takes more CPU computing power but it might be worth it if it can give him enough data to be able to pin point and fix the glitch
I don't know if he did keep it in tho when he pushed to live

After playing PvP today, not only almost every time I had tried to take off from the ground I got flight glitch. But every enemy dragon I’ve fought or seen has also 7/10 times been getting flight glitch. I’ve been absent through the recent patches and coming back to play today it feels like flight glitch happens MORE.. Anyone feeling similar or having similar experiences?

I’ve been getting flight glitches and takeoff glitches since I joined in 2024. Not a single patch or update has made the glitches happen less often for me, and in the most recent week, I’ve noticed the people around me are having flight and takeoff glitches happen to them more often than they used to. Not a single patch or update has fixed these glitches for me, and lately it’s just been getting worse for my friends around me. I’ve died due to not being able to take off from the ground so often, causing me to lose so many hours of growth due to this glitch that keeps supposedly being fixed over and over again. I’m not sure what causes these glitches, or why they’re so difficult to fix, but it’s hard not to give up on playing this game when I lose hours of growth every week to these glitches.

It can also help to see these glitches occur to possibly fully fix it, it is a very annoying bug that is infamous and we hope to fix one day soon completely!
