Hi! 👋 I wanted to talk about the number of people on the official Sactuary server. It currently holds 100 people, and it gets full even on Sundays when there are updates. Because of this, when the Skin Craft update arrives, I imagine it will be packed for an unlimited amount of time, maybe a few days or just one, since the update will be large and will also coincide with the winter event ☃️❄️. Therefore, I think it would be a good idea 💡 to make the server capable of accommodating 200 people or more. I've seen some servers that accommodate 250 people, and Sactuary only holds 100. So, more than 101 would help a lot, maybe 150 to 200 people or more. As I said, Skin Craft is coming and there will be many skins; everyone will want them, and it will be difficult to get in. That's why I think it would be a good idea to increase the server capacity 💡

Unfortunately it is more of a technical limitation then anything else. The computers the servers are hosted on can only handle so many tasks per second. If its asked to do more tasks (such as calculate the positions of players, or if youve hit a tree) per second then it can calculate in a second, then the server starts lagging. The number of players and the number of objects (trees, rocks, etc) on a map affects how well the server runs.

There have been stress tests, and they were run on the greybox map to count the maximum number of players with the least amount of interference from the objects on the map.

100 players was about the max the server could handle. 120 was doable, but lagged more then most players were comfortable with playing in. 200 was a slideshow.

as much as sanc would heavily benefit from a pop increase like that, just because some of the other servers have a 250 pop limit doesn’t mean it can actually hold that many.

I wonder if there's a way to have two servers with 1 shared database

Like Sanctuary 1 and Sanctuary 2

That's how they make it work on path of titans

This way it's similar to having more slots, but it's two separate machines, which means that if Server 1 is full, you can use the dragon in Server 2, because they share the same data

Edit:
Just wanted to clarify that you can pick between server 1 and 2 as long as there's space, it's not randomized
