I back this game for Mela and Leum skins, I did not expect Mela to become unlockable (after I specifically back for it) or for them to look like they were covered head to toe in paint after a previous update decided the red colouration (which was awesome) shouldn't be a thing. Apparently some people hated the colour deviation on Mela, Leum and Leuc but how is a disgusting mess of paint better. Give us an option to have the more natural skins atleast and keep everyone happy and while at it, make Leum and Leuc unlockable too since my kickstarter backing for Mela didn't mean much and that quickly became unlockable for anyone. (ya kinda screwed your kickstarters over)

Well skin crafting is supposed to be coming in 1.3? I think up to 3? Colors can be used from what I've seen of pictures

The thing im most confused about is if youre being sarcastic. How does making leuc and leum unlockable fix your frustrations around mela unlockability? You said kickstarters were screwed over but you want leum and leuc unlockable, thus screwing backers over even more?

Also welcome back - a lot has changed indeed. The skins are solid color because swatches will allow us to mix and match colors, allowing to have white sections on a dragons skin if bred in by a parent with white colors.

Mela, the skin i backed for became unlockable so in all fairness the all the skins should be unlockable or not unlockable, if you're upset at the thought of Leum and Leuc becoming unlockable then how do you think other kickstarters for Mela feel. but also yes let me wait another year for a skin that isn't just a spray painted black dragon when I dislike a vast majority of other skins available.

It was always planned to be unlockable. All stretch goals are unlockable in the game. There was no specific tier to back to get Mela, it is simply added to any who donated to the kickstarter, along with the Stretch goal dragons.

Kickstarters got these skins for supporting the game early on so they deserve these unlockable skins it’s just a big thank you and the kickstarters requested the all white skins. You can still be nested though so they are not fully unattainable. I think at one point they were gonna make it so people with the white skin are fully white and if you don’t have the skin you’ll be a more yellow natural white. But don’t quote me on this.

Its not even remotely about imagining how kickstarters feel because I am one. I went through the whole unlockability drama when it happened, and I was one of the people against it. I wish mela stayed exculsive though and the other dragons were the unlockable ones. The stretch goals were made unlockable because at the time, they were functionally half of the games roster, and they're still a good third of the roster. Granted, it was because of poor planning - most experienced devs would know that so many dragons would be expensive and thus unreasonable to lock behind ks only, but mela is a skin so I didn't really understand its unlockability besides just being looped in with the stretch goal dragons.

BUT. Just because mela is unlockable and you're upset about it doesn't mean the situation needs to be made worse just to make you feel better about the loss. If anything thats the reverse of what you should be doing - why not try to make mela exculsive again? All the KS went through that pain of mela being made unlockable. Just because you were not there does not mean it didn't happen.

This is incorrect: it was not always planned to be unlockable. During the kickstarter is is specifically stated to be exculsive to kickstarter backers. The wording is exactly "The Black Dragon skin Kickstarter backer exclusive reward has been unlocked!"

im a patreon only and when i learned that in 1.0 i could put shimmer on leuc, leum AND mela, i felt that kickstarters where cheated, they couldve locked shimmer on those exclusive skins just like in legacy, i understand that theres limites skins at the moment and 100 ptd 200 pts 300 pts wont be able to put shimmer on those 3 exclusives and wont be able to use it. theyd have to use shimmer on iconic or crim, so i eploy that in 1.3 they should lock all kickstarter's shimmer just like legacy did

Technically the 'locked to skins' got changed if I recall right because the shimmer system got changed in general
Before, Shimmer was a duplicate of the skin with iridescence, Such as Leucistic KS2019 and Leucistic, Two seperate skins one witb the effect
Now it is a universal effect, Laid over whatever skin is underneath it
PT also experienced changes in their reward tiers due to this change in mechanics, As 'shimmer on crimson skin' could no longer be seperated from 'shimmer on every skin' because what KS and PT are given are a cosmetic overlay effect
I believe one reason for the change was to reduce bloat, And because with skincrafting they would have before needed a copy of every single skincrafting possibility but with faint rainbow
New system is also adjustable too, Old was not without the skin itself being altered

TLDR- They did not lock shimmer on exclusive skins because shimmer system changed and they could not with new system

On the actual topic as well: I do not think everything should be madr unlockable just because on thing was, I don't care much for exclusivity but the lesson here should be that what you had shoudn't have been taken from you, Not that everyone else should have their things taken too
Just because you aren't given a toy doesn't mean no one else should have a toy
A different solution should be made than take what is yours because they toom what is mine in my opinion

Hue variation as a random chance on spawn for exclusive skins or all skins would be lovely
Even two iconic bios having ever so slight varieties of blues and blacks and yellows makes them each unique and lovely, And variety in white skins with hints of colour or none could solve all problems
I wonder if it is possible to set randomization within certain colour ranges for spawn in the swatches?

Honestly this is me just being fed up with everything. The 'exclusive skin' I backed for became public, the skin was then ruined through the removal of any shading so now it just looks like it was dipped in paint and there's no plans of adding shading to it from what I know. Sure the skin system is coming but if its the same shade of "oops we accidentally spilled the void on these dragons" I don't believe the skin system will save it. I've been increasingly frustrated, I want my exclusive skin I spent money for and I want to be able to be proud of what the game is becoming, not disappointed that this is what I backed for all those years ago.

Yeah, imo it shouldn't be a 'mine was taken lets take yours', But a 'mine should never have been taken, i shouldn't be left in the dust'
Many KS did back just for a lot of the exclusive backer only stretch goals, Which are no longer backer only
And while I don't personally care for exclusives, I don't think it is right to promise someone something and take it away with no equal return yeah?
For the dragond yeah dragon species shouldnt be locked behind a limited time paywall and I say that as someone with multiple bios, Thats something I am personally glad was changed
And I love unlockable skins
But the mela skin was exclusive to people and one that many were excited to have exclusive to them, It would have been nice to at least make a different dark skin for unlockables if they wanted to go that way I guess
