It's really garish to eat a dragon, watch It's skin decay slightly and then be replaced with a practically eaten carcass immediately. It looks unpolished and lazy. Instead, have a skeleton for each dragon that can be seen as a dragon eats away at it's body or takes meat chunks out of it. This will also make use of those meat chunks that have been sitting there waiting to be used.

and eat the bones too as alot of animals eat the bones of other animals too.. gators good example.. komodo dragons.. cats.. (yes they eat bones too soft ones) Deer lol
eating dragon bones would require a specialized bone eater, not all dragon breeds would be built for that, scientifically speaking. it also makes sense for there to be different kinds of preferences to dragons' food habits to create healthier ecosystems.
I could see acid spitter drakes taking the role of scavengers and crunching on bones. breaking larger bones takes a lot of force (look up how bearded vultures, the ONLY bone specialized vertebrate, handles it(.
Tbh would love a vulture dragon breed thats designed to be defensive, tanky and annoying, able to steal kills and mainly focusing on scavenging and profiting from the hard work of others.
We need a bird dragon period in this game. Either a vulture like species or a parrot like species that uses it's beak to crush fruits and nuts. The Zygovo doesn't count as it's more of a monkey in my opinion.
Actually.. Dragons dont need real life as they are fantasy to begin with.. And with science the species in rl that are closest to dragons the komodo dragon.. Swalloews bones up.. So by that logic friend any dragon can just eat bones to begin with lol
I wouldn't equal komodo dragons as closest representative of dragon. even fantasy settings want to have ecosystems that make sense
Eating bones is heavily dependent on your jaw structure and how strong bite force you have (bone crushing) - Hyenas
OR how strong your stomach acids are (Destroying the bone in other ways) - Komodo
As the nutrients aren't in the bone itself but in the softer insides = bone marrow
