I had this same thought a while back but I think ASD is too much of a cult-classic at this point. Even if they gave it a more unique name people are just gonna keep saying ASD.

Acid Spitter is already the proper name like someone mentioned before, and 'Acid spitter' doesn't seem that far off from 'Flame Stalker' for example either, honestly.
That 'drake' is included in its name isn't unique either - all the names include the type of dragon they are (see the Trello - Frostfel Wyvern, Feathered Zygovo Dragon etc).
I think it's mostly up to the community what they end up calling the dragons in 'common language' + what they use as acronym, so you'd actually have to convince the community to drop the 'drake' part, not the devs ;p
Edit: a full name change would feel very strange at this point honestly. I doubt the community would even go along with it after all these years
