The titles pretty self explanatory, but I think it would improve flight so much looks wise if their was some type of tricks or maneuvers you could do, like for example, maybe Q and E would make you tuck your wings and roll left or right, or maybe something that makes you go into a straight roll, which would look cool, but maybe you could dodge in the air in a pvp situation? Idk, just throwing ideas around.

A "dodge" or quick turn would be cool to have, let us spend some stamina to move in a more agile way. That would make the larger Dragons not useless in solo-fights.
For anyone interested: this topic has been mentioned a lot in the past (cuz it's a cool idea) and last Q&A (on Pancake's yt channel) I believe it was asked again. Due to the physics based flight system, these things aren't that easy to implement, so they're not gonna be here in 2 months. But Jao has said he'd like to look into it in the future, for things such as barrel rolls
Yeah that makes sense, im no game dev but that seems hard, hope it does come sometime in the future
There’s the”Do a Barrel roll” mod from Minecraft that could give ideas on how this could potentially be implemented within the flight mechanic. It maintains some semblance of realism while allowing you to barrel roll, loop-de-loop, and do all manner of other tricks
My dreamlist of moves would be this:
Emergency brake: takes a lot of stamina but slows you down enough to avoid fall-damage.
Quick turn: literally just turns you 180° around and keeps you momentum.
Brace: locks your controls while in-air so you continue on your path, but you take a bit reduced damage, would be nice for those times you already know you'll be hit.
A "lock tilt controls" option would be AMAZING.
I hate it that I'll try to fly upwards and end up turning around in circles because the tilt is slightly off. Being able to see the tilt on a meter, or even have it so it goes back to being 0, 0 tilt after you turn would be so beneficial to flying, even if it wasn't an "aerial trick"
Absolutely love this idea/post, some enrichment to the flight experience would be so nice, specially with combat maneuvers
I do wonder if the game would gain a lot from using dogfighting logic, where keeping a height advantage over your opponent is important, since height can let you avoid damage, gain speed rapidly, and outmaneuver your enemy. So a large heavy dragon would have to keep themselves alive (by using brace/quick turn) until they could get high enough to properly use this advantage (fly above, swoop down and do damage, use your speed to climb up again)
So a light fast dragon would be at an advantage in something like a chase or when fleeing, but the bigger ones have to focus on gaining more altitude to get their advantage.
Using this logic, it would be nice if some dragons got a strafe ability, so they could use it to flee into forests where they can easier fly between trees.
I'm kinda scared of the game messing up balance, it was fine with asd/ss/fs since they all had something they were best at. So making sure they're giving each of our new dragons different ways of flying would go a long way.
