Why did the skin line up for exclusive skins change? We put in alot to get our exclusive skins, and should be able to retain the benefits of what we put in for otherwise whats anyone's incentive for it?

I think they should've stuck with the plan Jao announced last year. But I'd rather they get the skins to work first before trying to push for this. Maybe when skin crafting is closer

Patreon and KS both have shimmer, Patreon have gold overlay we dont need to gate keep the skins on top of it.
I know of the original plan and was very much against it for multiple reasons, for one upstatting the exclusive skins would be near impossible especially with the current system and two why waste time coding something just to inflate peoples ego

The plan isn't to gatekeep the skins. The original plan was to allow KS who own the skins to pass to others, but those players who don't own it would pass a varient like Albino. It both adds more skin variety that a lot of players are wanting from those skins and makes the original skin harder to obtain
There's no difference between leucistic and white visually. Inly difference is white would pass albino instead of the leucistic
And it was designed to be the same model as the others. Very similar to BoB's system for the glimmers

The devs can’t get the full update out already, and KS and patreon still get exclusive rewards, they need to focus on getting base game content finished rather than a tedious exclusivity system

It is gate keeping because your denying people the ability to pass down a skin or help others with it if they dont own it. Hell I've already seen people gate keeping leuc to the point we had to ask other ks to grow a dragon so we could spread it.
You can't rely on a certain sect of people to be around forever and the only reason for this system is to stroke people's ego. There's literally no need for it and I for one am glad he didn't go with that idea.
At this stage I would rather he make the exclusive skins a pearl only and make albino, ash, firefly and scarlet spawn in colours for everyone. That way ks and pt can have their little ego boost at the trade off for their skins being utterly useless
Or heck do the same thing they did with gold, you need to own the skin and pearl to have the actual skin otherwise you have the discount version

What's the point in backing if you aren't getting anything out of it? I don't even own the leuc skin. This method would be a fair method to allow Kickstarters to nest people in with those skins while still keeping them rare

This has been a huge deal for both sides. And I see both, but this topic has also been brought up on the testing discussions as well, I think it was going for many many months cause everyone couldn't understand why this is now a topic of discussion... And will most likely now blow up here. I don't care for either limiting or allowing of the skins nesting, but at the end of the day it is a KS exclusive thing that backers did pay for. It's just up to devs to see if they stick with it or not.

Im saying if people so badly want their skin to be special make it a pearl to keep them happy but as a trade of then make their skin useless. I don't want them to work differently I've made that pretty darn plain.
it is about Ego thats always been the basis for this argument because people want to feel like special snowflakes and be either the only ones with the proper skins or so people have to come crawling to them to get the proper leuc/leum/crim skins
I pay for patreon I own crimson and gold and I am perfectly fine with them working as is, I didnt agree with the change to gold but as least the diehard firefly lovers are happy so theres that, but I rather the skins act as skins and we get the privilege of being the ones to help spread it around.
Theres otherways to go about Albino and proper melanistic then the method above, much better ones that would give people better control over what they want
Same goes for Mimikor I dont care they will spread like hot cakes I get to be happy knowing I helped them spread

personally i had been really excited when i got to the gold lifetime to help breed the gold skincrafts, and while i would absolutely love for more skin variations like albino and ash and scarlet, i wouldn't personally want to get those variations in the game at the cost of completely preventing others from obtaining the skins used to create them tbh

If 3rd generation of the KS exclusive skins become a different (but similar) color then that makes it so that there will never be a KS skin with good stats, and also EXTREMELY limits the pool of KS color access for other people.
I dont want to exclude people from accessing the skins I have, I love nesting and end up doing it multiple times every time I log in to get Leuc/Leum spread around a server. But if these colors are going to change after the 3rd generation then that means I cant just make kids to help spread the color around anymore and actually puts more pressure on KS to be nesting in those skins, PLUS as i mentioned before.. 3rd generation isnt enough to get good stats. So now any time someone is seen with a Leuc/Leum skin they will automatically know the stats are trash and go after them in PvP

not necessarily. The skins only change to the varient if the one nested doesn't own the skin. So if you own the skin, you'll get the original instead of it's varients. It goes based on skin ownership. If Leuc + Leuc breeds and the player doesn't own the skin nested, then they will get white. If they do own the skin, then they will get Leuc. A lot better option than making the skins overlays. Albino still has enough white swatches to be used for some white swatch skin crafting so it's not like people will just never have white in their skins

I just find it interesting that the only Time "sticking to promises" come up is when the exclusivity of white is questioned...nobody cares about the same promises made for the lower tier Grey, black and bio dragon
(For the record I don't care if skins/dragons can be nested, as Nihil said I got them to spread them, because they are so basic colors they NEED to be spread especially with skincrafting intorduced)

yeah it is especially strange to me considering the grey 100% looks better than the white and black skins in my opinion, i just like being an all white dragon personally so I enjoy the current white, and Albino can look lovely though my favourites in albinos are mammals with silvery eyes with blood accents, makes them look like little ghosts of their species.
But the grey skin has beautiful tone variation in its skin and the most unique eyes so far of the skins as well.
Perhaps the difference is that the white skin was limited to how many people could obtain it, but grey wasn't a limited pledge tier? And Crimson which is also listed on there is obtainable still, so people don't often talk on that skin for that exclusivity chart. So when it comes to exclusivity, like a former member of the Discord used to enjoy talking about, a White skin was truly unique and special, Like a status symbol, Especially when equiped on a Hybrid with the old methods of Hybrid.
Not my personal interest, But that could explain why it is usually the forefront?

that's the issue,if they want to treat one skin special, then all of those skins should be treated equally , since they might not be number limited but they were Time limited, which is the same imo
But again i would rather have all skins be nestable Than all be exclusives (and no, not because I don't have white and I want it, I don't like that skin personaly XD it's because that's fair)

Yeah honestly I understand the desire to keep some exclusives for what was given during the Kickstarter, But I'd rather the skins all be nestable. The grey skin is lovely, and I don't want that limited when it is already breedable and has been for a long time. The Crimson is absolutely beautiful, I wouldn't want to limit that either, considering once again it has been able to be obtained through nesting for a while now. And while I personally like white, It's just white, And a very basic colour that would be helpful in so many skincrafts. And some people like white, like me. It shouldn't be held any more special, Just keep it nestable.
If there's an exclusivity need for Kickstarters, I don't think locking out basic colours and basic coloured skins should be the way to do it. Even if it is possible to upstat an exclusive skin by making sure you only nest in keyholders like was said, it is already apparently so difficult to upstat that you'd have a hard time getting enough KS in one place to do that and prevent just dropping everything down to F stat as well. (i say apparently just because im a solo player, there's been enough talk about the upstatting that i don't doubt that would be the case)

Honestly, Id like a variant on Malandras option: Make a "KS Skin Variant" Pearl to overlay over Mel/Leumel/Leuc like there is for gold. Default skins will look one way, and putting a pearl on top of them will make them look another. Youll have the colors for skincrafting, and there will be a more dramatic version when you equip the pearl to show you were KS. This dosent fix bio being handed out like candy, but maybe would fix the issue with not having enough basic colors for skincrafting

Why is this such a big issue now?? Why are we trying to gatekeep skins..? It was fine in Legacy. No one said anything then. Maybe a select few, but it was never as big an issue as now.
And the KS skins are exclusive because only KS can spawn them. If a normie like me loses their KS skin dragon I’m SOL. Although there are plenty of friendly KS backers who are willing to nest in whichever skin I want.
If anything I would even go so far as to say let the KS skins be unlockable for all and give KS better rewards for backing.
Something like a different variation of the jellyfish overlay, a title specific to KS (like “First of Jhrakon”), white/black/gray/gold shimmers, a variation of the CC skin, or an extra emote? I feel like these are WAY better rewards than a skin, they can be truly KS exclusive, and they show off you’re a backer without taking away a vital aspect of gameplay.

The problem with those are the same As with skins, there would Always be people who are upset they missed the ks and demand those rewards to be released, giving more stuff to ks won't solve the problem, just shift it's focus (altho I would love a jellyfish-like cosmetic or emote XD)
Imo they should improve the quality of ingame skins so ks/pt ones aren't the only good looking ones

Yeah in general it won't be as much of an issue all around with people vying for exclusive skins once things like the Sandslayer and Snowslayer skins are out, and hopefully more unlockable patterns or patterns that are obtained through nesting in the future (i dont know if that is a thing, but it would be lovely)
All in all, it's an issue right now because if you want to look special or cool, You have to have spent money on the game. But in the future, the best skins I hope should be unlockable.
