Why can the fathers of a nest get nested in but the mothers of a nest cant nest themselves? & why wasn't this addressed while 1.0 was being worked on.

Because it was something that was actively removed from the game much earlier. Fathers can get nested because they're not actively tied to the existence of a nest - mothers are. Mothers can't even take someone else's eggs until her own nest has been destroyed. It probably caused a lot of game breaks when mothers would nest themselves because the nest still needed to exist in order for the mother to hatch, but the mother technically didn't exist anymore to keep the nest down.

dang so now mothers have to rely on others to keep their word & nest them up too. system needs improvement

It... really doesn't. Just as players are relying on you, the mother, to keep your word, you have to rely on others. That's how it's been and there's really no need to go beyond that. This game is definitely not made to be 100% solo'd.

the countless alts I seen suggest something being broken though I guess not for money making.

The main reason for alts is skins. It came in use if someone has a functioning VPC or a laptop capable of running the game, or a second PC, for upstatting, but the start was for skins because the amount of people with alts and ways of having more than one on at a time is very low.
