I've been waiting for this update for 3 years, since it's been around I've only seen people become more and more toxic and kill puppies mercilessly, for no reason, just for fun, making this game unplayable for many. until servers with certain rules are added as happens in THE ISLE or PATH OF TITANS servers I will not go back to playing DOD. I will also cancel my pattreon subscription where just today I reached 203usd donated. Until you fix this toxic community I won't play it again.

There are ruled PvP servers, you just have to find them
I've played on a few
Just out of curiousity; how can the devs fix the community? 🤔
If I had a quarter for everytime I heard someone tell devs to "Fix" a community...I would be rich.
Devs can "fix" IT by, you know, aplying rules, like how real life works or we would be living ín the Purge
I don't see how the devs could instill rules to EVERYWHERE
There are servers with rules for PvP or even PvE
Not everywhere, just the official servers, private ones already have rules As you said
Personally as far as I understood this suggestion/feedback, It was wanting a section of the official playerbase, And official place to go, Where the community might be moderated in a way that is less toxic than the current official servers
Which, I would absolutely love, But they can't really moderate everywhere
Perhaps a good thing to do would be to promote some servers that moderate themselves (with disclaimers that they are player owned and not affiliated with the developers or staff) so less toxic communities with good rulesets and moderation might have an easier time being found by players who do not enjoy clicking through and hoping something works out eventually?
Yeah until they have the funds for 24/7 official server moderation team this isn't really a feasible thing.
You could place rulesets, but you need ways to enforce them
Unofficials are sadly the only way to find this rn
there is an offical pvp server with clans disabled called dragonborne. i haven’t played it myself yet, but it is supposed to help solos
I play on it and while I can survive, It does still have a pretty common mix of chatter (sometimes awful helpful and kind, and also sometimes being hunted down for clarifying a game mechanic lol)
I think it's toned down because no clan drama, But this is still mainly focused on the toxicity of the playerbase, Not so much viability of a solo player
right, but if you are looking to “eascape” from toxic servers, i would recommend dragonborne tbh
or if you like the thrill of solos and clans, just turn chat off
Clan drama really does up the toxicity so I would agree, For a PvP experience on an official server with less toxicity, That is the perfect server from my experience
That doesn't really solve the main issue, which kind of comes down to needing more to do so that players only goal isn't just group up and start killin
well, this is a survival game
And for that to be solved that's just more to actively do so more development time really
besides pve servers
I know that. But a game with a gameplay loop tends to be fun, which tends to lead to players that aren't just boredly squashing babies for funsies because, well. What else is there to do.
Yes, But a survival game that could have more entertaining prey to hunt, Bosses that will come out, And eventual questing systems
Right now it's pretty barren compared to plans and the family friendly murder sprees are the best timekiller for some people
This
A lot of the issues right now boil down to, unfortunately for the playerbase, just needing that dev time to actually finish and add in various creatures.
I doubt unofficial servers have a paid 24/7 staff to enforce rules they can still do IT, so that's not an excuse, if they set the right rules and punishment for breaking them is sever enough people Will quickly lesen not to be eggplants and the staff 's job Will be easier too
Sounds like you've got a good suggestion cooking for it
I just listen and learn from how Other games do IT, for Example on a private server for an MMO any rulebreaking (mainly hacking, multi accounting or abusing bugs) results ín an instant Ip ban, I think I don't have to say how few hackers there are on the server
Admittedly I don't play any MMO's cuz a little too busy for it, but I get what you mean, I'm just saying you should formally suggest it as a post because it's a good idea and you seem to know what to actually suggest they implement for something like this.
It would absolutely be wonderful for there to be a seperate suggestion rather than the feedback for it to be placed for better visibility
I'll Cook IT up then after I get home from work and sleep a bit XD currently sitting In night shift
oof i hope you sleep well and i'll look out for it!
Thanks ^^
I also see this as a "people problem" ; some ppl just are toxic and bullies, no matter how many rules are implemented. :/ Not saying that Hazriel's ideas are bad or might not work, I do think better moderation and punishments is a good idea. But comparing a game to a real life doesn't work 😄 Real life consequenses can have a huge impact in your life, where as in a game the good punishment options are limited 🙂
tbh the major problem is the game easily allows for toxic behavior
it still follows the legacy style, which includes predictable spawn points, predictable areas to grow in/get food at, slow hatchies and juvies, fast hunger and water drain (which aids in forcing hatchies to stay in a predictable area) and forests that aren’t dense enough to easily hide from aerial view
if these things are changed, it’ll give people a lot more of a chance to not get absolutely demolished without any say in it
in my personal opinion, the current state of fresh spawn hatchies should only apply to newly/freshly hatched-in players to make them more dependent on their parents and to have a greater risk/reward (aka being incredibly weak, slow, and vulnerable for the reward of better stats)
You say fix the community as if everyone here is a toxic pvp try hard when really their just the loudest out of the group. It is just a given any game that opens itself up for pvp will always have toxic players on official servers no matter how hard you weed them out another will be their in their place
I believe there should still be some areas with predictable food areas, as to make sure you can at least have a few sources to be sure to find food at, but I agree there should be more around and perhaps have bloodlines come in to play with speed of which the hatchies and juvies can move at.
And I also agree forest should be easier to hide in, perhaps make the tops ofthe trees cover more, or have some smaller trees for people hide under for cover while still making the ground runable on. If the issue of getting hit when hitting those more covered treetops is a concern, just make the tops/tips of those branches not hitable and keep the other hit boxes as they are as to not make it so nothing can hit you.
Obviously this isn't fool proof but it's a start
Like, sure SSs can hide as invisible, but they're the only ones who can. FS are kinda sitting ducks and are bottomless pits (especially as babies) to feed so they have to be around food to survive. IR has about the same issue but they're even slower that FS.
However idk how this would all help the "toxic community" issue, but as a survival issue in 1.0 will help.
I don't think the issue is supposed to be blaming everyone on PvP for the toxicity, But it's more upset and calling out that those loud toxic people are able to keep being loud and toxic in chat and sometimes gameplay
All in all, I do hope that this leads to good ideas and suggestions to improve player experiences, Not used to flame the playerbase where many are trying to be helpful and have fun
All in all, People should absolutely suggest ways to improve it too, And while it may not be something that can be removed as it isn't entirely the devs fault, We can hopefully reduce it
I do think that the low food sources and lack of hiding spots for hatchlings does add to the toxicity when it causes people to be upset which never helps chat
Hopefully those would be fixed soon enough and it helps!
I also think the breeding mechanic can cause some toxic behavior, like gatekeeping and exclusion, when you have to rely on others to get better stats
