I don't think this would be popular even for me but a mechanic that would more or less debilitate players stat wise and graphically if they didn't sleep at all.

Not sleeping for an extended period of time would create black corners on your screen and slowly, ever so slowly, darken until you collapsed from being so utterly tired. The effect would also create a kind of tunnel vision.

Stat wise, you would be a little bit slower, your bite attacks only do 75% of the total damage

The duration of time needed for this to take effect would have to be at least 1.5 days until your dragon starts exhibiting symptoms of bone dry tired-ness.

The duration it would take to collapse completely would probably be around 15 minutes are so if you didnt find a place to sleep.

While this would make sense realistically from a gameplay stand point you really don't want to force players to...not play. While many people can play for hours on end, others are limited in how long they can enjoy the game.
There is no real benefit or extra enjoyment that can really be gained from adding such a mechanic. In most survival games it's used the 'Sleep' action is to reward the player for finding a safe location/bed and thus skip the 'dangerous' night.

On the contrary It could actually work as a prevention method for too much gameplay as well
Players sleep when logging out anyway, if the game counts the logged out time as sleeping (if the player safe logged) then the drawback won't happen in the next session for quiet a while, it could be set to 5-6 real life hours, or even more, and could "force" nolifers to get up from the screen a bit.
Those who have less time to play wouldn't even notice it existing

That could work as well - I too was thinking it would not force peeps to be off the game but rather campers, murderhobos, and trollers looking for a cheap laugh - to chill and take a small break for a minute at least*
