hey, so the timeline depends on whether you want to do med in US/Canada (Postgrad pathway) or europe/india/asia (Direct entry) I'm assuming direct entry:
19-24: this is med school, you learn everything you need to know about medicine.
25-27: foundation/internship, you learn how to be a doctor, practically. how to talk to patients, how to instruct nurses, how a hospital works.
28-31 (or 34): specialization/residency, you study for your speciality, while working as a doctor and earning a salary, the toughest phase (for most people) easier specialties like family medicine, take three years, harder ones, like Orthopedic surgery, take 6.
you can get an additional Fellowship (a super speciality) that takes two years, e.g. Pediatrician speciality -> pediatric cardiologist. this won't get you a better pay or cooler job, it just makes your resume look better, and you'll be instantly hooked into a team for a rare case (in this example, of a child's heart)
