Im in year 11, studying igcse, my strong points are history english geography business studies. BUT, i have no clue what to do in this year... do i need to take Extra curricular activities for a better admission into a uni? or what...

point of this is to ask, what steps should i take in the future to, yk, get a stronger admission for uni or a sixth form college/school, and what should i be doing currently to improve my academic results e.g. cutting stuff out of my life (what should i be cutting off..)

you dont absolutely have to have extracurriculars but it will help you immensely to have experience debating / will be useful in making ur application stand out if youre aiming for a good law university

debating tournaments / MUN / law competitions / writing competitions (argumentatives) / public speaking comps

would be the extra curriculars i suggest (esp debating cuz learning how to develop ur own opinion on things and how to defend them is quite crucial in law)
also good to gain awareness about current global issues (like politically, economically, socially, countries' circumstances)

if youre taking igcses this yr, i dont rec u to try these new activities out (cuz they really do take up ur time) but u can slowly expose urself to such activities as u do your a levels or foundation (which dont really care bout ur extra curriculars and are more fixated on ur igcse results)

And uh

#

My school doesn’t really got any “debating” ECA’s

#

since no one wanted to enter it

#

So they just don’t bother

#

at all

#

But yes ur right, it’s best not to overdo it and just focus on getting good iGCSE grades

#

one question though…

#

for law, would these A levels be good?

If I go corporate law:
business studies, English Lit, Geography/History

If I go international “humanitarian” rights law:
Politics, History, English Lit

(This is just to get an idea of what I should really be focusing on on)

LAST QUESTION SORRY, I FEEL LIKE IM OVERASKING

I fear my worst subjects are like the sciences and math ||(I’m decent at math tbf)||, and I am just curious, do I really need to get high marks on subjects like chemistry and physics and math when for law you want to be targeting mostly essay based subjects and deeper analysis subjects Yk what I mean right

#

like math and science is all sort of just memorisation, and logical thinking for maths ig

#

do I need to excel in sciences and math to have a really strong resume or do they not matter as much? By excel I mean 9’s and 8’s, I usually get 7’s or 8’s as of rn
