Basically, Im a Year 11 Student with my IGCSEs in about a week or so and I have picked Biology, Chem, Physics and Maths for my A levels and I do have some what of an interest in Biology and Docotory but I feel like the long 6 years of med school and then another extra because i want to go into specialization. I feel like my life would just be really boring and i would not have motivation to study 8-10 hours everyday while my other friends would be enjoying their uni life. My Parents aren't forcing me to become a doctor but my father has put a lot of emphasis on it and say that it would make him proud. Also, helping people is cool and all but not really much of a motivator for me to spend 10 years of my life becoming a doctor i am a lot more Money motivated. As for Grades I achieve A* on every bio test and sciences but I would need a Merit or Need Scholorship because my family is very middle class and I cannot take out a loan due to religious beliefs
#I dont know whether I should go for a Medicine or not.

ill be honest it might be a bit difficult if you can't accept any student loan
i would try to email your guidance counselor about this or something - tbh i've never heard of a situation like this before but this is a complex issue
i would say that you don't have to completely specialize down the doctor route, there's so many options for you with your subject picks
what religon?
If I go to a University here in Qatar (the country i currently reside in) I could take out a loan interest-free
but then again I dont wanna spend my whole life just repaying back studnet debts
but again Qatar doesnt have many options the only one is Weil Cornel (USA University) Branch here is Doha
but i heard the acceptance rate is insanely low and they priotize citizens more than residents
out of interest does taking econ igcse conflict with islam
i'm not a scholar but i think it's haram to work a job with interest
if u study it it's fine though
i feel like this could be a very interesting topic for your universities essays if i'm being honest
i would seriously see how many options are open to you thouhg
i wanna study in like a top 50 uni but my family just can't afford it
and there's a slim chance of a scholarship
even if i get one its not gonna be 100%
Weil Cornel University only offers Scholorship in the 3rd year and its fee is 60k USD whcih my family just cant afford and Qatar University only has 10 seats for residents so extremely unlikely to get accepted there either
my father is a doctor at the Hamad hospital, he said that there are a lot of expats also studiyng in med schools in qatar
are u sure that only 10 seats are available for residents?
yeah from what ive heard
btw if u don't mind me asking, what school do u go to
ye i've heard about it
yeah not the most notorious school in qatar but Alhamdulliah
i also wanna become a doctor
but ive been determined from the start to become one
there is just something about saving peoples lives that really motivates me
i might go to my home country to study medicne
and do residency elsewhere
ik but hows taking loan interest?
loans accrue interest over time
basically in islam its haram because the rich get richer and the poor get poorer cus at the end of the loan you end up paying a lot more than you took
so if u wanna take loan it has to be interest free

ok thanks for the explanationguys
yeah medicine is a really long path and definitely not for the faint-hearted. you will probably want to quit while doing your degree. also, if you want to do any decent degree at any decent university you're probably gonna need the loan,so not picking medicine doesn't really fix that issue, unless there is something im not aware of. whatever you end up picking you really need to work towards that scholarship.
if you live in middle east, there will be more options for interest free loans in neighbouring countries to qatar, so explore them
they wont be the best in the world but rn in medicine degree, from what Ive heard, degree doesnt matter too much as there's a big global shortage so wherever you come from whatever your degree, they will take you in to work
@distant haven
there is a shortage of doctors?
yes big one
in western countries they're desperate
source?
the thing is that I wanna specialize in a certain field not look at kids and be like ur sick
go to the ER department of any city in a western country and you will find it flooding with people dying in the corridors because the queue is about 9 hours long and no doctor is available to see them
well then the already long path of medicine will be even longer
lol dont medicine is such a bitch of a major
lol some people are forced to
and some parents think that engineering is just about construction
you cant escape interest
Ye it’s rlly hard
