polar ivy
#

or chem is cs isn't available

tame viper
#

also hate chem

polar ivy
tame viper
#

oh nah

polar ivy
#

they will reject you without maths

#

this is coding mate

#

i have no clue what you expected

tame viper
#

will it be like area and stuff

#

angles

chrome geyser
#

mate math is more important than cs in a level

#

math is one thing you can't leave and highly recommend further math if it is offered

chrome geyser
#

i assume you want to go into CS?

weary ledge
#

my course has a maths module called 'mathematical concepts for computing' but it's piss easy IGCSE level maths except proofs but u see my point

#

a big misconception about coding or programming in general is that maths is REALLY important

#

well its the fakest thing ever

tame viper
weary ledge
#

learning a coding language or coding is like learning english or french or any other language. going for that coding interview is like doing an english test (just with higher stakes ๐Ÿ˜„ )

tame viper
#

ok thanks

chrome geyser
#

yeah if you wanna do cs, you can't skip math lol

tame viper
#

im noob so i dont know much abt this

chrome geyser
#

if you wanna make websites sure go ahead, math is not needed

tame viper
#

not really

chrome geyser
#

but if you want to do anything in cs like machine learning etc, math is absolutely required

weary ledge
#

you do need maths to get in the uni tho ๐Ÿ˜ญ

tame viper
#

Ok thanks

#

so i take these subejcts : "maths, further maths, physics and cs"?

chrome geyser
#

people usually call cs a fancy math major and a lot of people doing cs in masters usually have a bachelors in math

tame viper
#

ok

#

btw do i need chem or nah

chrome geyser
weary ledge
#

wait its different though cuz u gotta choose what ur doing in cs

tame viper
#

o

weary ledge
#

AI, Data Analytics, cybersecurity, Digital forensics, Fintech?

#

SE?

tame viper
#

whats SE

weary ledge
#

software engineering

chrome geyser
#

software engineering

tame viper
#

yeah that ig

weary ledge
#

then u dont need physics

chrome geyser
#

are you planning to do a SE major or cs major in clg?

tame viper
#

whats clg

chrome geyser
#

college

tame viper
weary ledge
#

no

chrome geyser
#

common misconception but no

tame viper
#

oh

chrome geyser
#

SE is a small part of cs

weary ledge
#

cs is about the hardware

chrome geyser
#

what?

tame viper
#

bru

weary ledge
#

se has it in its name its abt the software

chrome geyser
#

cs is not about hardwares what ๐Ÿ˜ญ

tame viper
#

well i wanna learn about hardware and software bboth

weary ledge
#

bro i go to cs lectures all the time theyre literally my 1 computer architecture module expanded into 3 modules

chrome geyser
#

๐Ÿ˜ญ maybe that's first year cs lectures

weary ledge
#

yeah probably

tame viper
#

brhh this is so complicated

weary ledge
#

but this makes it more inclined towards the hardware

chrome geyser
#

def more inclined than se yeah

tame viper
#

like ssd,hdd,gpu,cpu and that stuff?

chrome geyser
#

yeah that's probably covered in both

#

very fundamental stuff

tame viper
#

then whast the diff

weary ledge
#

SE is all about development of software

#

while cs might go into like the PHYSICS going on down in the cpu transitors SE isnt concerned with that

chrome geyser
#

that's usually computer engineering tho

tame viper
#

i go With SE then? which one pays more

weary ledge
#

bro ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Software Engineering Major:
Focus: Software engineering is a subset of computer science that concentrates on developing software solutions from start to finish.
Curriculum: Courses typically cover coding, algorithms, math, operating systems, object-oriented design, electrical engineering, and logic.
Degree: Specialized software engineering majors are less common but usually result in a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.
Career Paths: Graduates can pursue roles like software developer, systems programmer, and computer and information systems manager.

Computer Science Major:
Focus: Computer science encompasses theoretical and applied aspects of computer hardware and software, emphasizing discovery and understanding.
Curriculum: Studies include statistics, mathematics, computer programming, machine learning, cyber security, artificial intelligence, and ethical considerations.
Degree: Offers a broad range of career paths and opportunities in various industries.
Career Paths: Potential roles include web developer, data scientist, database administrator, computer and information research scientist, and information security analyst.

are you going into programming just for the money?

weary ledge
#

see if u have the braincells for cs

weary ledge
#

and becoming a software engineer for the money is just depression cuz before u get actual money ur gonna be working in shitholes

#

u have to enjoy coding

tame viper
#

yeah i like it

weary ledge
#

are you sure

tame viper
#

i even coded a game once but then quit

#

i made it like u go into it, theres play button, u clikc then ur character spawns

weary ledge
#

wow thats a great start :DD

tame viper
#

thanks

weary ledge
#

u should code in ur free tiem

tame viper
#

idk where to start

weary ledge
#

practice is essential in se

#

what do you wanna code

#

games? apps?

tame viper
#

both?

#

actually games

chrome geyser
#

if you do game dev and go a bit deeper, you'll realise the copius amounts of math you need

tame viper
#

what type of math

weary ledge
#

stats

chrome geyser
#

algebra, geometry, stats, vectors

tame viper
#

shi

#

im fine with algebra and geometry

chrome geyser
#

like ie quaternians

tame viper
#

idkw ahts that

weary ledge
#

these are all AL concepts

tame viper
#

ok

weary ledge
#

not into Further maths even so ur still good

tame viper
#

ok

chrome geyser
#

probably calculus asw

#

you should stop hating math and try to practice so that you become better and enjoy it

#

because it's gonna prove very important down the line
