So I've been considering applying for the Cambridge IPQ alongside my AS-Levels and I'm wondering if I could get some advice from anyone who has done the IPQ. Is it worth it? Did you get the marks you wanted? Was writing and researching for the paper easy (especially if you were juggling with your AS/A-Levels)? Please do let me know!!!

Hi! I did the IPQ last year for AS. I personally don’t think it’s worth it as it’s super time consuming and doesn’t do much for uni apps, but if you enjoy it, go ahead :)
I got much better than the marks I wanted 😭 thank the heavens
It was definitely not easy and I pulled an all nighter once, but it gives you a lot of worthwhile experience (time management, essay writing, research methods)
what is IPQ acctually
It stands for the International Project Qualification. Basically you have to write an up-to-5,000-word research paper of any topic of your choosing. You have to do research and any experiments or surveys to make your paper. You submit the paper and your research log and they'll grade you accordingly. It's supposed to be useful for college applications and helps you develop skills required to write research papers.
Yikes, did you have a teacher to guide you through the process?
is it like acctually worthwhile and does it really help in uni application?
Yes I did, she’s the best and I love her so much
She had a degree in my topic area too
That's what I wanted to know so I got on here and asked, I assumed that it could be helpful since I want to get into research for my career so ye.
Oh so was she a teacher who was trained to help students write the IPQ or was she a teacher for other subjects who happened to know a lot about your topic?
Trained for the IPQ, she supervised everyone
I see.
I was really lucky she had a philosophy degree too
'Cuz I don't have any teachers who were trained to guide IPQ students but I do have a teacher who was a former researcher in the topic I was planning to do.
And since she happens to be my class teacher, I was hoping she could guide.
That’s fine
Np just msg me if you need anything
