so i know the subject requirement stated is 6, but adding cas, tok, etc makes it 8-9, and i was wondering if there is leeway to take less (pretty sure i heard this before)? the workload is pretty heavy

All of this is compulsory

#

3 High level subjects, 3 standard level subjects and tok and your extended essay

#

Cas is extra but not exactly "work"

#

Mainly just volunteering

#

And attending events

Defintely not, the only way to really ease your workload is take the subjects you like as HL and do CAS on stuff you enjoy doing. Or you can take some easier subjects such as maths applications and interpretations than maths analysis and approaches (the later is said to be harder)

if you want to go a la carte, you have to take IB certificate (take as many subjects as you want up to your school timetable limits), but all unis prefer the IB diploma

#

also not many international schools offer IB certificate
