Each prophet of certain elements teaches mortals how to master it in preparation of a certain prophecy which is still uncertain to me. Mastering the 4 trials one can ascend and be ready to reborn as a sky kid in the future to deal with different sky areas/maps in sky. Maybe i think tahts why we lose our cape everytime we are doing the trial, for us to remember that once we are just an ordinary mortal handled by those prophets as a novice. My idea is, maybe that's the whole thing they were trying to to do in Eden. A prophecy told them about a special and wise being that would reincarnate there (whether that is the Prince or us. Maybe they wrongly thought it was the prince, since the prophecy proved that it was us). And they were preparing eden to hold place for a giant ceremony/ritual to commemorate the moment the prophecy comes true, but the tragedy happened first
