I actually had this idea (theory? Idk) that the elders all tried to protect their respective realms when the Eden diamond exploded
Vault being destroyed since its right next to Eden but luckily they have the projectors which they (or the elder, what I've heard somehow survived) activated to make the dream like realm we have now
Wasteland I imagined they were having a war/battle during the explosion and it took out most/all of the troops and left the elder weak
Valley possibly less destruction but I like to think the explosion chased the buildings to crumble and fall as well as the valley elders losing their arms (thus the prosthetics they use now)
The whales in forest could also have gone haywire/scared when the explosion hit and ran into buildings and such (like the last area before temple, with the huge bones in what I assume was a home)
Isle and prairie having the least affect. Isle I think was long abandoned before the explosion. Prairie I dunno. Apologies for the wall of text!

Orrrr, they made Vault a...What do you call this? A stimulation, since at the end of Vault. The elevator is heavily damaged and there is a first floor and there is rubble everywhere unlike when we entered Vault. Maybe since prarie is the one that is mostly uhh exposed to light? Aka, the sun?

I have a theory:
What if krills are supposed to ascend long ago,but couldn't and got stuck in that rocky cover?

We see their light from their eyes
It's blue
And when we die and the rocks covering us fall over we are blue as well
So maybe the krills were in this part of the process
But the explosion did something,I don't know,maybe mess up the reborn cycle
And they were stuck in that part(soul coming out of rock shell but they didn't come out)
Whenever they see light creatures (including us skykids)they think they are in orbit with other creatures so they just head straight to them

To add to the ark project theory, we can see that in the intro, there is an “explosion” starting from Eden and expending to other kingdoms, making the 7 castles and 7 stars disappear.
What I wonder however, is this

Are they the elders? But in the intro they all disappeared
Or maybe it’s the elders and representing how they have lost their light, which is why our character gives back light to every elder throughout the game ?

I think they initially planned Isle and Prairie to be more like our real world, with benches and buildings and then slowly transition into a fantasy land. But then the idea changed

I think the game clearly shows strong sentiment against human endless greed, and therefore they originally planned out the game to be much more "human looking", since the message of the game is meant to be aimed toward us. but then they changed and made it more subtle

While the idea to portray real world structures and such was discarded, they still built a narrative and world that reflects ours

two worlds oppose each other, the greed, isolated, cold technological world led by the ancestors, and the more natural, pure world where we find the "children of light", and we are meant to connect both by using our light. It's why we collect light from each realm and then hand it to the elder?

Yeah! I think they changed orange for yellow. But the colors do have meaning in the finished/live version! If I remember correctly, yellow colors mean life and energy, positive things. And the blue was meant to represent the dark, lack of life and energy and such
Megabird (Usually called Megan as an inside joke in this chat) is supposed to be the "God/Goddess" of the Sky world!

All questions are welcome, don't worry about it! We all love discussing lore here. We first started talking about the king when we got our hands on some concept art, which said he was removed from the game eventually
Later on the devs confirmed the King is inside the game, and it's a canon character, but it's not present in the way we expect

Megabird is really interesting by their uncertanity.
If the King and Prince are "very corrupted and not to be saved anymore", it means they can have... no typically elderian body? The exploding thing in Eden scares me somehow and makes me think about it as a something alive, dark and dangerous-
So the sence of sky child's living is to bring back their fallen comrades... I thought about it really a lot when I was playing Eden. Some kind of earlier versions of sky children who were fallen somehow, or maybe they are the winged lights-
By the way why the winged lights have so human-like appearance, are they alive?

Whist it may have been desert before times, and named before that, the theme if oil being present struck me today. Oil is often reffered to as "black gold". I like to believe that this was intentional, and that unmistakeably, before and after whatever happened to the world, Golden Wasteland has always been a Golden Wasteland.

Some time ago I started to think about sky kids and stars, what is their meaning? I remember the theory about us - sky kids being made out of clay, we are dolls made by spirits who live in sky world. Our body carries the light, we find it - then we are able to move and fly - to be alive.
** ** ** **- The stars are fragments of light that fell from sky, we gather them and carry them until we are ready to return them to the sky. While we carry them they give us power and they strengthen us to face everything.
** ** ** ** This all made me think about; what if when we go to eden to give all our light away to the statues, and then lose all of our light and freeze in same way like the statues - and the small blue spirit comes from us - thats when our soul ascends and our body is left to the storm
** ** ** ** The sky kids body doesn't get to reborn, they are left to the next ones that carry the light- sky kid body was made to carry light back to the sky - our body (that could have been made from clay) is meant to be vessel

I think it goes hand in hand with the life concept, throughout the levels, wingled light can be obtained, and it helps to progress, in essence, it acts as expetience. Perhaps at the eden, the light is given as the last moments are counted to the new souls to be born, possibly interpreted as passing your knowledge to younger generations to help them. Which may be why the targert is to give away as much of the light as possible.
As for the remaining body. Maybe when we reborn, we become entirely something else, that had been saved by someone else, whilst our true being remains after death in eden. However, it is contradicted with the animation that the statue actialy cracks and splits open. I don't know about the clay theory, as spirits too have turned to stone, and can be cracked open. Maybe fosilisation of sorts would be a closer answer, since it again goes hand in hand with the aging premise.
You turn in stone, yes, but as an idea, you become ancient. Times pass, and you turn into a memory for someone in the future to discover.
That does raise an interesting question. What if Sky time flow is not as we understand it. Perhaps non linear, or not constant, speeding and slowing as it progresses.

It always gives you 7 flaps for the part when you fly up to Orbit after dying, it doesn't matter how many you had before or how many wing buffs you have. You don't even get your wing buffs in your cape until you are actually in Orbit, it just gives you some flaps for the cape in that section so that you can fly, but I don't think it's really affected by anything

And the winged lights are very connected to the skykids in some way
If WLs are the bridge between then I can’t really see why

i have been thinkin or some add ons :
1st generation (bare-shattered statues) : they might be succesful on ascend (their spirit already gone) but they cant be reborn again
2nd generation (blue crystal statues) : their spirit somehow stuck on their stone body, unabling them to ascend
3rd generation (blue line statues) : this generation are more durable than former generations, proofed by their location after pnr. They cant find way to ascend by themselves, but they are not forever stuck like the 2nd generation
so basically
first can ascend but cant be reborn, 2nd cant even ascend, 3rd can ascend but need outer help

This boat has really interesting paintings. I said previously the game separated golden light creatures, that still communicated with nature and were overall good, and dark, corrupted beings. And we somehow are a combination of that. (It’s odd that the concept art placed the elders on the corrupted side though. They probably played a huge role in Sky’s downfall)
In the Isle of Dawn, we see people who are kneeling, most likely praying
Eventually (maybe their prayers were answered, even by the megabird who knows?) stars fell from the sky. They seemed surprised but please
They grabbed those stars (from the Isle of Dawn to other realms?) and brought them for others to see
On the ship, we can see that people, with a higher rank possibly due to them wearing masks, have the ability to transform stars in something else, most likely energy or a precious resource
This one is interesting too, the “balls” they made out of the stars seem to be able to open and liberate something. We can see the air symbol. Maybe they used the power of those stars to control the weather etc ?
Then we can see them, bringing those newfound powers/stars to Eden in the cave of prophecy. The color of the star is the one of air in the trials, which further confirms that they could control elements with those powers. Now why they brought them to Eden, I don’t know? But it looks like a volcano, were they planning to drop them inside?
The one leading has a mask, and so do the ones holding the star, so it must be an important ritual.
I think that what’s depicted on the last picture never happened; it was what was supposed to happen. Hence why it’s depicted in the “cave of prophecies”
Instead, the ship fell due to a violent storm. What I find interesting is that the contents of the ship don’t appear to be falling, they may be still in there somewhere.

Spirits could make a lot of things (hence the spells we use), but do you think they sell them? It doesn’t really explain why they’d go to Eden with those

Ok so I was in the cave but I noticed two murals that are the same now I don’t know if someone already said this but I believe some people asked some sort of wish from the elders as they’re usually high up and that’s what we see here

If you consider the King to be the Eden elder, then there are some pics from the concept art, but that character is not directly seen in the game, except for maybe in the mural for Eden that we see in the Vault ending cutscene

Got an idea while going to eden that maybe the light childs we encounter are the spirit of the childs that failed the ascension to the eden's peak and in the point that we as players are reborn, an actual light child would go into one of the relams to give strength to other childs in their journey at the start middle or the last bit of strength at the no return point.
And the real question is what lies beyond the Eden's peak

I always kind of got the impression from the game that there is currently a great war raging (rather than the war being a thing of the past), and that we are warriors.
The story to me is pretty straight forward, if not difficult to put into words, if you take reincarnation theory into consideration. The fire inside of my skykid is the same fire inside of yours, we heal each other, we share it, we pass it on and we keep it alive, but it must've been forged somewhere..
The Darkness sort of, to me, looks like ash. It's absolutely congruent with destruction, and we see corrupting everything from the water to the ferocity of the wind to the hostility of the creatures, such as the krill. Burning fire leaves ash behind...

There's the actual physical realm, our realm.
There's the Sky Kingdom, where our skykids are, which I'll call the corporeal realm, because our realm doesn't seem to really matter to them at all ||aside from the office, but that's just a really cool easter egg.||
Then there's Orbit, which I feel is a sort of in-between area for the realm the War is taking place in, which is spilling out into Eden due to forces of darkness trying to corrupt the corporeal realm.
There are tiers of ascension, and we're like the medics bringing light through to Orbit so that the elders and other spirits partaking in the fight can be healed. Their spirits are tied to something in the corporeal realm that helps them return to the kingdom if they are completely devastated,
which is why/how we can revive them via statues. But their main battlestations are just above Orbit.
