Eden is the most likely their main option for power....
Think of it like this .. we need our own energy to open doors.. maybe if eden is somewhat functional.. we don't even need our light to open any doors because the huge power diamond at eden supplied the power needed to open the doors. But since eden is broken. We need to open door manually using our own power.

First time I see a red rock is at Eden, so someone messed up a crystal and combined some other power than light and it made a big bang

Well, most eden fart theories say the diamond fractured and caused it to spew fragments everywhere and destroy everything

The reason why they absorb light is that the raw materials for power diamonds naturally absorbs light

Crystals cant be made without a source of light, so the ones we use have a small fragment of light in them and so a darklight must've made the Eden crystal

Ok so I have been thinking about the elder poem quite a bit and it didn't make a lot of sense with what we know. The elders are stars, so why would the stars be the ones sheparding those who fell? Unless... The six aren't the only stars that fell, just the ones who made their home there.

Here's what I'm thinking: in the beginning, falling was a surprise. The ancestors freaked out the first time, but lacked the means to really help. Some of the stars began intigrating with the ancestors. Teth began helping the ancestors harness light to build artificial creatures. Ayin helped ancestors learn to ride creatures. Tsadi may have helped organize mass production of materials. These things happened in the name of sending stars home.

Daleth also helped act as ambassador for fallen stars, since they were likely very panicked and would want to speak to someone with shared experience.

As the six integrated (unsure about Aleph), they lost their ability to fly. It was unfortunate, but ultimately not a huge deal - being integrated meant they no longer needed this ability.

Megabird did wind up sending out a beacon to allow the stars who had fallen a means of getting home, but by the time that was established, at least the six were busy with their place in Ancestor Society, which is why they wound up staying long enough to lose flight.

This was part blessing, part curse, since stars didn't stop falling. By the time Eden went bad, many stars had likely made the Isle to Eden treck, with the elders guiding them forward each leg. This would maintain a sense of duty, and lead to the streamlined path we are familiar with.

originally forest was going to be maze-like, foggy, with will o’ the wisp type characters appearing and reappearing in the distance, and of course the forest elder (at the time she was called the ‘Shaman’) would lead you through but end up getting you lost, and you would have to ignore her to reach the temple

So this is about the theory of diamond production and the purpose of flying boats. Boats are mainly for the use of carrying pots of light. You can see these pots of light being made at prairie and I say pots of light because there are butterflies put inside them. In the wave emote cutscene, u can actually see one of the flying boats carrying pots of light.
These pots are being shipped to forest to make power diamonds, they combine the light with organic material at forest and use a diamond press to combine them into an artificial Star, or what we call “power diamond”. You can actually see the concept of this by looking at the forest temple door mural. To add even more details, right when u enter forest the text on the bottom says to “find the source of an ancient power”. The pic below is another way of looking how power diamonds are made and how forest built them. This diamond press in the picture is also seen at the golden wasteland, and there’s a krill flying around it. It may be broken down but it is noticeable that it is the same factory. Also the shipwreck at wasteland is seen to be carrying certain pieces of this diamond press, it goes to the top and sides. Now I know there’s boats everywhere and not all of them are carrying pots of light, so I jus assume they are for transportation since the people on the ground can’t fly naturally
