today Ktjn said that this might be « an orrery, an astrolabe, or maybe an armillary sphere » not word for word like that, but the gist is she put those forth as possibilities
now, i did a bit of digging and an astrolabe and armillary sphere are almost identical, however orreries are something different (showing a solar system)
i think it’s a fusion of the two
the thing in the centre is an armillary sphere, but the whole structure is an orrery, representing the solar system (or something to that degree) of sky

okay, I promised I'd get back to y'all...just took a little longer than anticipated.

One of the folks who did a lot of the narrative work is my boss, so yes I have access to that information, but no I'm not going to terrorize her with every little question. I have a pretty hands-off approach to lore, design and narrative have a plan to reveal the lore as they see fit, and I will let them tell their story. Happy to answer technical questions when time permits.

How to pronounce Ktjn: OreoYes

Yes I play Sky nearly daily. I have 100% completion on all seasons and hustle my butt to do it. Would be tricky to do my job if i wasn't intimately familiar with the game and it's inner workings.

Some of Sky is translated in-house by developers who are native speakers of Chinese and Japanese. We recently picked up someone who speaks Korean and is slowly working on improving some of those translations. The rest is sent out for localization and the translation is done by folks who may not be as deeply familiar with the game as the people who made it.

@compact olive sorry for the ping but it's hours later. The screenshots you posted looks like a bad model and/or texture and probably doesn't have any lore-related implication to its existence.
