fear the lightbulbs, pathetic excuse of a dragon
That hilarious
Death Note except everything is made of crayons
Another thing how can they fly
I mean they dont weild light but they fly just fine
« write the name of someone in this book and they’ll die »
« sir i cant write i dONT HAVE F I N G E R S »
XD
I never realised we dont do we have toes
Do you bite your thumb at me sir
i just thought of something
At lest we can give a thumbs up
sky: the musical
Isnt it already one lol
i mean with singing
on a stage
and voice lines
The thumb’ll come up, tomorrow
If vault and Isle will have season maybe a BIG change will be
Is thumbs-up cross-cultural tho? Could be tricky considering how alt-right is co-opting Ok sign
At this point I think it is
Maybe not before this
Wait maybe it can be offensive somewhere
I need to research
gentle reminder that this channel is for lore discussion... if you want to have a more casual chat about sky, #general-sky-discussion is your friend
im still thinking of sky: the musical
debating if it should be about the lore or about the current story
cause i might actually write this
i can imagine the costumes
oh im making a prince cosplay currently
the hardest part is figuring out how the hEck the mask is supposed to work
i wonder if i should make it out of a soft, light wood or if i should use PVA foam
@lethal stump smol king of mech king
i will be smol king
although i’m still
- checks height *
about 2 feet taller than the prince
if sky was a movie, the king should be played by jake gylanhal or however you spell it
The king would be a large square with a diamond on the top.
I have one more alternative theory, if any of you are interested
Sorry, it takes me so long and some of you are interested
To write I mean
il interested ! do tell !
Okie, I'll compose it now

So, like my previous one, this one also follows the same prenise. Something happened that caused the Eye of Eden itself to become corrupted. After digging a bit in this server I found some interesting things, these things to me at least suggest that the king of Eden became corrupted. We see sky kids who appear to be sacrificed, in addition to the whole zone itself showing signs of a war. This would indicate that something did happen.
In Wasteland we can see there are two different types of shields, ones who have a sun and ones who have something that looks very similar to the Eye of Eden itself. This suggests that the war was between the elders and the king himself. But looking at all the zones and the construction of some items and the elders themselves wear, it is very obvious that at some point they worked together and were united.
The Devs also said that there was an apocalypse.
So, based on all of this, this is the theory I came up with
What's if the king became corrupted, consumed by greed and power he wanted to take all the light for himself, so he decided to take it. Going from land to land, he took the light for himself from each elder, and since only one of these elders is a warrior, the others had no choice but to give it to him. From the looks of it, only the Wasteland elder chose to fight, but again, we can see that he failed and that his light was also taken from him. There is a high possibility that he died during this battle.
What he didn't know tho is that by doing all of this he was corrupting the Eye, the biggest source of light in this world.
When we look at Wasteland and the starter zone, we can see that they are the only two zones that are surrounded by water, which would suggest these two zones aren't in the sky, and the only two zones that are devastated, no growth no nothing, they are barren wastelands.
So, what if while the king was waging war, stealing light, the world began to die because of the corruption. The elders noticing this, made one final act, using what was left of the light they could find, used it to send pieces of their lands up into the sky, away from the corruption that Eden was spreading, so that they could save their people.
We can see this in action in the starter zone itself, the land that is on the ground and not floating is a barren wasteland, while the land that is floating is flourishing.
And since the Wasteland elder was defeated there was no one to bring some of the Wasteland up to the sky.
This was the apocalypse for this world, the whole world being plunged into darkness and killed off all life.
And we the sky kids were tasked to try to restore it to its former glory, only non made it, so instead we were given a new task, to save those who have fallen and bring them back home, so that they may help us in our new quest, to shepherd the spirits to the light.
Or maybe the sky kids tried to stop the Eye from becoming corrupted, but were too late, and when the explosion happened they all lost their light in one go.
Alternatively, the Wasteland elder could have been holding off the king, while the other Elders were supposed to escape.
that’s an amazing theory owo
Thank you
I like to cover all bases, as I don't like major plot holes
So I haven't perfect everything before I tell it
This are the two theories that make sense to me, from what we are given
But, the king was definitely corrupted since we can see the sky kids being sacrificed, for what we can assume is harvesting their light
im just wondering, so in this theory the eden diamond is already there and working fine ?
also skykids are new, i don’t think we co-existed with the king era
And it behaves as an opposite of darkstone.
And yes, skykids didnt exist in the king era.
If the sky kids are new, then that small part of the theory is off
We were sent down by the megabird to restore eden or something.
i need to make a timeline of canon events, or events that aren’t canon but everyone accepts that they happened
And the mysterious child of light.
the prince
Since we fall like stars
The sacred texts
no, that would make us the same species as the elders wouldn’t it ?
No, we're hybrid while the elders are halfway into being indifferent
Well, the elders are spirits
That is concept art that's not officially canon
Which would mean when they died they became stars
At least I thought they are like the spirits
Well, they behave sort of the same way
species of sky:
skykids
elders
ancestors/spirits
and creatures
and of course, light and dark creatures
krebb
too lazy to list them all since they all look the same to me
So in that case we are some kind of species
all of the light creatures look the same
Mantas are just big butterflies
My guess is stars, since we fall like them
And in the beginning cutscene we are shown like stars
Maybe, but i think we aren't stars.
But, there is a chance I am wrong
Yeah, we aren't stars, we're called "Descendants"
the stars are probably the spirits and the elders are the constellations.
That makes sense
but the elders are called stars in the beginning cutscene
Descendants of the megabird
we are DESCENDANTS OF BIRB
No, we're hybrid.
We are like candles
A mix between darkness and light
Yeah
Somewhere between krills and whales
the darkness and light bender 😎
Sorry, I keep forgetting that we have to halves in the end scene
wait yeah
fully light: connected
half n half: descendant
fully dark: indifferent
brb gonna find the tomcept
This should also help in categorizing things.
So we were created to be both light and dark, and our purpose is to bring the spirits back, while also giving the elders back the light they lost
Maybe.
The elders did get corrupted alongside with the king
At some point in the past
I say this, as so far we have no other objective
and one could argue they were almost as bad as him
The king/prince handed the elders special darkstones which made them godly. And then slowly corrupted them.
Well, in the past we tried to save the eye
i mean, why would they fall from heaven if they were good people ?
That's true
It would make sense we were sent to restore their light, because darkstones absorb fire.
the original demons
All it took was one of them to become greedy and corrupt them all
yeah, since the other 6 were already on that path
Or at the very least suspectable to corruption
In the end they lost everything
Which is why I am assuming that they used what was left of their powers to save some of their lands
As sort of a counter measure
And to possibly give the few they could save a home until they died
You should check Tom Zhao's website if you havent, it has a lot of lore in it.
From concept arts, ofcourse.
LINK PLSSSS
It's pinned.
I'm definitely going to do that
how do i see the pins
I'm really interested in the lore of this game
I'm not so sure the elders were that bad. In fact, if the problem is that they lost the metaphysical connection to the megabird, they'd be trying to take care of things all on their own without the decision making assistance they're used to
Showing someone, which may be the prince being handed light/fire by the megabird
@kind bobcat ngl that looks like it would be a neat pin
y e s
when you use STAR with it, you wear the prince mask
Sorry, anyway... As part of an overall whole, they likely had better tools for keeping track of the needs of others. Falling would mean figuring out communication of needs from scratch
hey wait a sec
if thats supposed to be the light, why is it blue ?
blue = darkness usually

I think they messed up and were unprepared, and that it caused a lot of problems, but I don't think they're bad
Maybe they chose to fall on their own or playing devils advocate they thought that they deserved more
I don't think they were all bad, just the one, the king
He spread his corruption
@lethal stump it's maybe just the design-
There's another variant with it in white-ish yellow
- clutches my seven deadly sins headcanon * y’all are so forgiving

And here, enjoy a picture of the corrupted king
That's pretty cool
It's possible that the king needed more - when you are in a collective, individual needs can get overlooked.
@lethal stump we are all sinners in the end, non of us are completely pure
yeah, but I think all of the elders were impure to the point of being bad people, respective of their « sin »
He likely needed more guidance, at the minimum, and perhaps safer oportunities to learn natural consequences of failure.
I guess we will have to wait to find out, I for one am neutral, believing they could have been sinful or innocent
Judging by the architecture, it could be that the king ordered or allowed the construction of wasteland
Since it has tons of statues of him
look at it
Definitely, I think that's why Wasteland was the only area with warriors
But in the end Wasteland turned on him, since we see Wasteland carrying a shield with a sun
To be fair, that's how a kingdom works
woah getting closer to the kings castle means more references to the king
Who said eden was the king's castle
The agricultural areas tend to be more independent since there is so much space there, and they tend to be farther away ald less protected
maybe hes the crystal
maybe the elders were victim to his evil plan
MAYBE SMOLL ANT WAS RIGHT
THE KING IS EVIL

hasnt
hasnt he always been evil, in other theories ?
Have I started a new conspiracy? (‘◉⌓◉’)
I see him as just this kid with insecurity, giving the elders darkstones because it makes them godly.
Just like how emperors thought mercury heals you
The middle class/aristocracy areas tend to be independant exertions of the kingdom's needs and wishes. Not a lot of outright propoganda is needed to keep it under control bc most people want their licence and ability to buy stuff
There is a chance he wasn't evil in the beginning, but like everything else, the more power you have the more you crave
We are all suspectable to this
We are not immume to power corruption
So even if he had good intentions, they possibly turned bad at some point
And this led to a apocalypse
Maybe they made the eden crystal to harness every bit of light there is.
The factory workers likely had the most trouble "staying in line" because being a factory worker can really suck. You are not paid enough, not given the connection or satisfaction from the end product, and your day is highly regulated. Oh and there's a good chance you are "expendable"
And ended up destroying the world
That could also be a thing
Since darkstones absorb light
And the eden crystal is basically a big red flaming darkstone crystal
What if in his greed to take all the light he created the very thing that would end everything
Maybe he made the crystal to help his civilization grow
Well, Forest isn't actually barren, it does have trees and light mushrooms and so on
And the water there is due to the rain
everything is abandoned, boop
@kind bobcat that could also be a reason for its creation, and then he turned it on his people
If eden was actually a big power plant, it would make sense he made wasteland.
Wasteland has non of that
Vault is in wasteland and is the entry point to eden
The starter zone does, but it seems to be due to the floating islands on top
The birds and mantas seem to be migrating to the crystal
With the goal of creating sort of a light path
I suspect we are not the first part of the plan to get everyone home
He made wasteland as a barrier to protect vault an eden, two important places that is prone to dark creature attacks
The wasteland concept art also featured turrets
But like not from darkness or anything, but to keep it to himself
The entrance to vault is mentioned as an opening that appeared after being degraded by time.
So maybe he made vault in case something happens, and wanted to protect it as much as possible
And the vault elder, which seems to be the elder in charge of knowledge, is put in charge of the vault
I just remembered something
I'm baaack
The Devs I believe, if I remember correctly, said that the Vault residents built a ship to sail off into the sky to run away from the apocalypse
What if Vault was where they hid?
What if Vault was their fall shelter?
No, ark fell with the traveling spirits
TS doesnt have anything to do with lore, maybe.
Oh
Examine the tomcepts
Feels like Vault is full of technologies composed from Dark materials
No, that's wasteland and forest
Vault is full of memory lanterns
Although darkstones may be used for the elevator
@kind bobcat I swear I read somewhere that they answered a question and said that
Also, the ark got destroyed.
The elders destroyed them.
Maybe because it's all darkstone.
Hmmm
This supports the theory that the elders were corrupted
But at the same time
Maybe they weren't
And the ark had something on it that needed to be destroyed
So much reading and understanding....
This lore is fairly deep! Even if it is old concept, maybe a fair amount of it holds up.
Maybe it's when they became corrupted. If the king took the brunt of it (being king and huge, he may have took the majority if the corruption because he felt that was his job) then he would have seen the most effects.
Well, the king really looked corrupted.
Very corrupted.
Compared to the other elders in the concept arts
i wonder if he was around the diamond when it exploded, so he got the worst of the storm beginning
- ba-dum-tssssss *
I like to see the darkstones as a container for light or energy, if the king did create the eden crystal to harness the light of everything, it may have overloaded and exploded, destroying everything, while at the same time taking all his light and corrupting him.
that’s what i’ve been thinking
i think at first it only stored the « holy light » from orbit but he wanted it to be more s t r o n k
Thats why we see a ray of light coming out on top of the crystal
Vault was likely doing something reasearch related, and may have already dawned protective gear. Prarie had tons if experience with light creatures and darkness weeds, so he may have had the easiest recovery. Forest had deep technological experience and was able to counter a lot of the effects on their physical body, but not their Self. Valley faced heavy corruption, but was able to stabalize by turning it inward, splitting themself in two
The explosion is merely a release of the energy within the diamond.
And then just formed into a beam
Shooting upwards
...i guess
yeah, and that explosion caused the storm
Bingo.
I do wonder what that one part implies about making the elders “godly”
I get literally they become ultra cool advanced people, but maybe it gave them a form of a god complex too. Considering the king makes wicked amazing decisions.
ah yes, lets make a big dark crystal that outweighs even myself and put it on the centre of our culture
king makes wicked amazing decisions
- glances at literally everything * i don’t feel that’s entirely accurate
great plan m ma build my castle near a potentially civilisation killing weapoen
How does it still spews out beams and causing storm? Wouldn't it be extinguished by the time we came? Skykids came way waaaaaaayyyy long after eden explosion
@hushed steeple the existence of mantas and various light sources indicate that there is still light, and the eden crystal will still absorb it.
And it would still be collecting energy from the environment.
And the red rock rain might be fragments of the crystal.
This kinda reminds me of tower of Babel
wait a sec
now that i think of it, sky is just the tower of babel story but with a worse ending
The eden crystal will only be turned off after it is completely destroyed or it runs out of light to absorb.
If it really is a container for energy
It may be possible to turn it off... But I doubt it would be untrained kids that manage it
Our goal in eden is to rescue the lost children, not to destroy eden.
Maybe it will be something to do with the ultimate gift for reuniting the elders?
that’s for pART TWO—
SKY 2
so what is our job in sky we seem to have no other purpose in our life other than saving our peeps
RAZE EDEN
“We kinda did a oopsie! Mind just uh.. bringing back the ones we kinda.. Y’know.. made not alive? Thanks- the elders.”
HONK AND FLIP
@ocean ivy that's why we use our baby light on a baby candle stick
im thinking the king’s motivation went from
« let’s get ourselves back to orbit »
and eventually became
« i will dethrone god »
And megabird went :
" Haha light go disconnect "
@hushed steeple I like your theory better
It would also explain why everything is up in the sky
I can't sleep at night so I make up theories and stories xD
I like the eden power plant theory
Every king would want their civilization to grow.
Unless the king didnt even make eden or the crystal.
Which just destroys the theory.
do we know if the devs will ever explicitly reveal anything about the lore?
I doubt the king did make it, but he probably did have it made
Kings are usually more the coordinator type than the trade worker tuoe
*type
Forest may have helped make it though
" hey, build this "
" ok, what does it do? "
" Just build it bruh stop asking questions "
" lmao k "
Well, forest is where they mine darkstone
They discovered darkstone there.
If anything from all the tomcepts vault elder was the superb smart one
Alright, i need sneep, and here's a reminder of how the king looks like the opposite of the megabirb
ye, thats dark stone
i don’t think so
it’s certainly bigger than he is
megabird IS hair
i mean, we don’t even know how big the lad is
going by the « king is a mech » theory, he’s about the size of the wasteland statues (minus the pedestal), although when comparing a skykid to the diamond to his head, the kings head is still smaller
he’s probably taller than the diamond though
what does that even mean aksjsjsggdf
what was the theory, i’m interested
oki

well king was definitely
the sky world in the past was wack indeed
mindblown if that was the case
you are a king propagandist but u swear to megabirb
o no
am a traitor
who knows man, king could have been the size of burj khalifa in-game or something since we can't see him anymore
prairie uncle luv butterfly but doesnt he send them to forest mom to c r o m c h
who knows man, king could have been the size of burj khalifa in-game or something since we can't see him anymore
@gray bridge he thikc
king is thikc
well we have a general idea of how tall he was, relative to the height of the eden doors in ascension
i wish i had the environment drawing abilities of reika and zhao, then i could draw what i thought eden looked like before
i can draw ppl and some plants, but a landscape/environment is t o u g h
i think eden was probably was a pretty grand place with that floating castle above it and all
how to time travel in sky bc i wanna see past eden,,
funny enough landscape/environment is more of my thing but i can only draw in pencil
i don’t think the castle was always floating, i think it was blown into the air by the diamond exploding
possible
the only time i could draw backgrounds was 2 months ago after that i lost my entire ability to draw
also i imagine eden starting as like...an inactive volcano which was overgrown by plants and a host to many creatures (like the actual Eden in ze bible)
and then the prince and elders move in and clear out some of it to make the castle
and as time progresses it’s just turned into a bare cliff of pipes and machinery, with the castle looming at its peak
ZA BIBLE
ze bible
they be floatt doe
chunk of eden is a funny phrase
misread it as chonk of eden
prairie elder is the chonk
awwww chonk
i wonder what it was used for
maybe it was alef’s personal rooms (bedroom n stuff, if these guys sleep)
the arched part with the pillar below are like valley's bridges and the towers are similar as well, so i guess the bridge connected all of them
yeah all the names are hebrew letters
also would we ever be able to put the names in the pins ? they’re kinda fannon names, half fan half canon, i think it’d be useful
i’ll check
19th then
i love they have one that’s just
‘He’
if we list the elders in order of their letters it’s
Prince/Non-corrupt king: Alef
Isle: Dalet
Forest: Tet
Vault: Lamed
Valley: Samech (Samekh ? idk how to spell these anymore)
Prairie: Ayin
Wasteland: Tsadi/Tsadeh
Corrupt King: Resh
right to left is how you read hebrew, yes
I saw something interesting
yes oops my mistake
Its about Vault
go on

IF YOU PUT THE ELDER NAMES IN ORDER IT TRANSLATES TO DEATH SENTENCE * SCREAMS*
it’s probably actually jibberish
b u t s t i l l
WHAT
going through all realms eventually is a death sentence
i cant find samekh on my keyboard
going through all realms eventually is a death sentence
@kind pagoda I mean yeah
it's the circle
ס ?
Yup
yes that's the one
it ends up as 'deathslatter' which is mildly less intimidating
is this better or worse
jUST THE SAME
F E A R
in conclusion sky is just brrrr dead dead whooooosh
Sky players: nooo you can't just kill children!
Sky: haha death go brr
that's resh
ר
Sky players: nooo you can't just kill children!
Sky: haha death go brr
@vague adder child abuse game
ok yeah now it’s just « Deathslatter »
which means nothing
aside from d e a t h
all the elder names in order of realm
i put them in order alphabetically and it was just nonsense
in yiddish it’s just « detstslar » which...is what it spells
death negligent ?
wasteful deaths ?
my my my this sure is something
f e a r
I mean not rlly for me
i bet the devs are lurking and are as surprised as us about this
hebrew speaker can u confirm
this aint my first rodeo with creepy stuff hidden in games
omg
not afraid of death, then ?
lel I don't speak hebrew, I just double checked the letters on the keyboard
I made sure that the sounds matched up with the diagram
potentially I did make a mistake somewhere but I double checked them all
m'grampa speaks hebrew

this is some creepypasta level stuff
"hey grampa, does this say D E A T H S E N T A N C E ?"
I think the key here is that regardless of what letters we add to the end, the beginning stays as death
that's pretty indicative that there's meant to be something to these letters
isle to valley is « deaths » in yiddish and hebrew, according to google translate
where can i find the names?
wasteland, vault, and both king names are just
« tslar »
tslar doesn't mean anything i think
I'm just saying i think you need all the names together for a coherent translation
yeah
« d e a t h s l a t t e r »
i wonder what will happen if i add random spaces
i thought that was generally accepted as fact?
here’s the only ones that made any sense
tbh i kinda hope not, just because it would be interesting to have a mysterious long forgotten character that no one has even seen concept art of
but most likely they are the king yeah
looks like "deathsell r"
that’s why i included it, was a lot like « deathseller »
tbh i think IF this ins't just coincidence they are meant to be put together, it just makes the most sense
but @lethal stump , try separating the king's names with a space
for thé ‘deathsell r’ ?
« Detstsl A r »
something i find interesting is if you put Tet and Samekh together you get Tsadi
teenage dépression + adulthood carelessness = midlife crisis
דעטסצ ל א ר
Deaths for r
s c a r e d
what about reversing all the letters?
ooo i didn’t try that
keysmash
Only when it doesn't translate to an actual word
when i typed the letters into a hebrew keyboard they typed out as reverse so maybe thats how they are meant to be
one way means d e a t h
the other means random keysmash
Something that should be noted is that in all the concept art, the letters are spelled differently to what everywhere else on the web says
daleth in the concept art is dalet everywhere else
teth is tet
samekh is samech
oop yes
maybe they’re using a dialect ?
"Raltssted" hfjlawvvdsl
It could be a dialect
It could also just be because they didn't want to directly be using hebrew
maybe it was just a transliteration error or something
oh dude there are so many ways to spell these letters
either way it means we should take the exact translations with a grain of salt
so how did we go from deathslatter to death sentence earlier?
i spelt it wrong
i did the wrong character for resh, i did ך not ר
oooh
tbh this is hard, it could very well be just a coincidence
cause i think they would choose something that makes a bit more sense than "deathslatter"
unless we are doing this wrong that is
if i were to use one of these letters to name the skykid, i think ‘Nun’ would be the most...possibly accurate one
« to sprout, offspring, descendant, life, hier to the throne, faithfulness »
"the skykid" as a whole species you mean?
well, canonically we’re alone i think, so naming the canonical kid
can someone kindly point me to the lore file that has their names please
the elders’ names are scattered around concept art
ah
i found most of them in Mr Zhao’s work
id like to do some research on them
well, canonically we’re alone i think, so naming the canonical kid
@lethal stump wait rlly?
i think
i heard it a while back that we’re technically alone, the multiplayer is just a game mech
also ‘Resh’ (reysh in the thing i’m reading) means
a head, a person, what is the most highest, most important, chief
imma just type all the meanings here since the pic i sent is hard to read
Dalet(h): a door, a path, a way of life, movement (into or out of)
Ayin: the eye, look, appearance, to see, understand, experience, to be seen, a fountain
Tet(h): a snake, to surround, to twist, a twisting or a coiling
Samech/Samekh: a prop, to support, prop, aid, assist, a slow twisting or turning aside (like a propped up plant)
Tsadhe/Tsadeh/Tsadi: a fish hook, to pull toward, something inescapable, desire, trouble, a harvest, righteous, to hunt
Lamed(h): a staff, cattle goad, rod, to control, prod, urge forward, go toward or forward, teach, learn, tongue
Alef/Aleph: ox, bull, gentle, tame, the leader, strength, what is first, Adonai, thousand, teach
Resh/Reysh: a head, a person, what is the most highest, most important, chief
imma copy this to my notes so i can pull it up whenever
iirc from the English font used for some of the other concept art, there was some doubling of letter equivalents; what if it’s the reverse this time and there’s artificial splitting to avoid duplication, so “deathslatter” is actually “death’s ladder” i.e. climbing up Eden?
I think that only works if they were trying to translate manually without the assistance of a hebrew speaker
i think TGC is smorter than that
Do we know enough about their dev team if any of them would know Hebrew?
they’re a diverse bunch, maybe one of them is jewish/israeli and knew a fluent speaker
here's the thing though...
I was just doing some reading on wikipedia, and it appears there's a chance we have the wrong language
These letters all come from something called the 'semitic abjads', which were used in a load of languages
the bad news is that most of these languages are no longer in use
Stuff like aramic and phoenician
oh yeah i knew that
list off all the languages we can use and lets start translating
But since it was so long ago, they aren't used anywhere and we can't get translations
However, since they are an important part of history, there's people that study them
i think it makes the most sense to start with hebrew though, since Sky is heavily influenced by judaism, christianity, and islam
And that means that there's a possibility TGC outsourced their translations with a historian and we have no way of figuring out which language it was
i doubt they would do that, especially if these are meant to be hints for their 7+ player base to find
I'm just not sure it's feasible for us to figure out the exact translation, but if we do have a hebrew speaker then it's still obviously a no-brainer to check with them
yeah lmao I was thinking it's an extremely small chance that they went with that, but stranger things have happened
Did we also check gematria values at some point?
greek?
my main point is that we have pretty much confirmed that the elder's names have something to do with death
Numerical values for Hebrew letters
that's the main thing for the lore
oh the numerical letters are, in order of realm:
4
70
9
60
90
30
1
200
Or they could be an acronym from a phrase/sentence
Thánatos is the greek personification of death
he’s also their version of the « reaper »
Wait where’d you get the N
i feel like we’re actually figuring something out
that's also the translation you get when you plug in 'deathslatter' though
im just saying at least we actually HAVE something now
wait
remember one of the meanings for Alef was « Adonai » ?
well, i looked it up and
Adonai ( אֲדֹנָי, lit. "My Lords") is the plural form of adon ("Lord") along with the first-person singular pronoun enclitic. As with Elohim, Adonai's grammatical form is usually explained as a plural of majesty. In the Hebrew Bible, it is nearly always used to refer to God (approximately 450 occurrences).
it means god
im still skeptical if this was all just a coincidence though, cause y'know the 7+ player base
I feel unsure that they would add something so complex to a game that IS aimed at a younger audience
but it's l o r e
actually i feel this is a good way to hide it from the youngins
kids can enjoy it, teens and adults can stress over the meanings of names
yeah its possible that they added this for the older part of their audience
realistically the younger player base in general won't dig into any of the lore
ANy ways back to the lore
also, related to Adonai...
According to jewish law, jews are forbidden to say the name of God (YAHWEH). Instead of saying it as it is written, jews are commanded to replace it with the word adonai which means "Lord". To indicate this, the hebrew text shows the letters of Yahweh, but with the vowel pointing of Adonai.
so the letter Alef is directly related to the name Adonai, which can mean Yahweh aka god
hey guys my friend is jewish and knows hebrew, are there any things i should ask him?
gimme gimme
maybe clarification on the translations would be a good place to start
ill dm you the translations so i don’t clog the chat, @junior grotto
yessss
yeye oki!!
I think all we need is the translations and whether those letters can be put together to spell something
besides 'deathslatter'
@junior grotto also unrelated but i love the soul eater pfp
@normal berry 😳😳😳😳 thank u i love maka
im doing big thinky rn
Im also big braining as well
Perhaps the first 4 names are intended to spell out 'death', and the last 4 names are simply based on the meaning of the letters?
The first 4 spell 'death', but the meanings don't fit as snugly as we might like
and the last 4 names fit very well, but don't translate to anything

what if Alef was a god appointed by Megabird ? Megabird is a lot more powerful than him, so it’s like a CEO appointing a general manager
he was the god of the Sky Kingdom, heaven part one (orbit is heaven part 2) and the other elders were like co-gods, angels maybe
but then darkness, sin, corrupted them and destroyed heaven
and now us, the descendants, have to help clean up
maybe megabird was sort of like a titan and the elders were like the pantheon greek gods and seized power from him/her/them
and eden is olympus
a destroyed Olympus
and if they’re greek-esque that means there’s plenty of space for them to be just as flawed as humans
megabird i imagine is like the abrahamic god, benevolent and all-seeing
cause you DO see all the elder shrines together, so eden could very well have been a place for them all to meet
so the letter Alef is directly related to the name Adonai, which can mean Yahweh aka god
@lethal stump FYI "To indicate this, the hebrew text shows the letters of Yahweh, but with the vowel pointing of Adonai." doesn't mean Alef is directly related to the name Adonai
Crack theory: The reason the elders "fell" was because there was an argument about MegaBird throwing light creatures at the ground without consideration for the fact that hitting the ground hurts?
Alef is a consonant
wh
it’s a vowel though
No look up IPA for alef
megabird: yeet the manta, yeet the bird
elders: maybe you should stop yeeting creatures ?
megabird:
megabird:
megabird: y e e t t h e e l d e r s
Hebrew vowels are small dots and dashes added above/below the characters
So "the hebrew text shows the letters of Yahweh, but with the vowel pointing of Adonai" means, when there's YHWH in the text, they add a-o-a-i vowels
Ngl researching the Hebrew text stuff felt like I was doing an ARG, and now I’m realising how much I want a sky ARG to uncover some lore
ikr
Imagine the ciphers with all those glyphs
i might try and figure out if the glyphs look anything like hebrew
Sorry, what is ARG?
"augmented reality game"
the glyphs of bells resemble hebrew letters actually
tho they are not exactly the same
basically a kind of puzzle/easter egg hunting game where the clues lead you all over the place in the real world or the internet
Augmented Reality Game
online games that are orchestrated by the game master to require hacking sites, searching up word meanings, translations, codes, etc
like Cicada 3301

since the hebrew-letter elder names are confirmed to be scrapped I think it just indicates devs were interested in the old testament
aw, they were scrapped fr ? i just thought they didn’t use them much anymore
Ooooh so what's the latest writtings found in sky?
Cause if we can find it's origin maybe there's something on that place that can relate to sky
99% sure, 1% chance it's not scrapped, but I doubt they gonna use such a direct irl reference
it’s what we have though, until we get something else it’s just calling them by their realms or by their old names
and the thanatos thing is cool
In any case it still might be worth speculating about, since it gives some indication of what direction the devs were taking with the elders initially
yeah that was cool lol
certainly fits with the « old sky was PG-13 » if their names culminated to « God of Death »
sounds like the old elders were most certainly not good
that is interesting
old elders were absolutely metal
current teth: hehe i grab the fire real mean-like >:)
old teth: i purposely confuse and lure away children to be lost in my forest forever and never move on
forest "i steal children" elder
old eden elder: * exists *
current eden elder: not around to be saved anymore
forest « stranger danger » elder
me @ tgc: 🤲 give me the eden elder
current eden elder became saviors
really?
eden elder isn’t around to be saved anymore because he’s us
inb4 we are the eden elder
haha late
shh
crack theory: if all the sky players get on each other's shoulders we will fuse and form the eden elder
or just dbz it
imagine a server with all 2 million players
that's why we can only have up to 8 skykids in a instance
maybe 8 skykids = 1 king
devs are preventing us from fusing together
Somebody said before that we are technically playing alone and multiplayer is just a mechanic. Was there a source on that? I think that’s probably quite pertinent to the current discussion haha
no comrade. all skykids
i don’t remember who said it, but it was a while back. might’ve been jay ?
Somebody said before that we are technically playing alone and multiplayer is just a mechanic. Was there a source on that? I think that’s probably quite pertinent to the current discussion haha
@delicate coral nonono i reject that i donot accept it
cries in multiple sky characters
aksjsfdsff
cause if we are the only skykid then who are the eden statues we save?
- SCREAMS *
T H E P O E M
Why is it 8 tho?
multiple timelines...?
probably cpu strength tbh, Silent
8 is just a game mechanic I guess
Well if we are collectively the eden elder then TECHNICALLY there is only one of us
we’re a hive mind
devs made a mobile game so a family can play together
Does anybody have a link to a full write-up on the “sky kids are the king/Eden elder” theory?
most of the time 8 slots can contain a whole family
oo i should drag my parents through eden
yes
I’ve seen the theory tossed around but I haven’t seen it in full
its my favorite theory tbh
same
and it makes the one player thing make sense if we are all part of the same entity
Is it in the pinned theories document?
I don't think so unless Jiisama updated his
@delicate coral I have a short one https://discordapp.com/channels/575762611111592007/632004389137154048/721029474765766678
tho I didn't include evidences
Thanks

Hm that’s very interesting
maybe because he swallowed multiple souls
he WHAT
oo the circle thingie is the same as the constellation symbol in home
that pic king sent,,,, i almost cried
- screams *
family friendly gUys
my dark headcanon says the king wanted light so much he ended up killing people and devoured their soul flames (the mural shows him devouring something which could be interpreted as the light)

so he technically had multiple souls inside him
- screams *
family friendly gUys
@lethal stump the lore isnt family friendly >:)) //ok JK JK FORGIVE ME
but I think that theory doesn't work well
so he technically had multiple souls inside him
@humble barn i-inside h-him
y’all have dirty minds
I just like how dark it is lol
tbh i dont see any of the elders as inherently evil, i just think the elders got caught up in their hubris and strove too far, leading to the eden event
but it also explains the civil war: People would rebel against the king if he was killing people
they’d also rebel if he wanted to endlessly industrialize with no regard for the realm’s people—
but it also explains the civil war: People would rebel against the king if he was killing people
@humble barn VIVE LA R E V O L U T I O N
I mean maybe they were just traditionalist and/or didnt agree with using light in manufacturing and technology
yeah and I think the people's souls consumed by the king won't turn to skykids
also mochi, if the king is a mech that means that tiny little prince is eating whole people
so now I think the king's soul just shattered into pieces somehow
@thorn spade please stop with the inappropriate comments
maybe the king's soul is the child we hug at the end of eden and wl are just the imprints of it-
sjajdjadj sorry
so now I think the king's soul just shattered into pieces somehow
@humble barn and yeah i agree w this
hEy idea on how he shattered !
maybe the king's soul is the child we hug at the end of eden and wl are just the imprints of it-
@gray bridge or maybe the other half of us ???:0
imma edit my theory; I still think the king could be that bad but I believe the souls of people were unrelated to how the king clones were formed
hEy idea on how he shattered !
@lethal stump ah yes give me your theory and king propaganda
so, on our ascent to stormlock, we reach bodies of past skykids covered in dark crystal. as we go by them, they crumble into dust
maybe the same thing happened to the prince’s body and soul. he got coated in dark crystal and stone, and crumbled into pieces, his soul shattering
mmmmm good theory
also i think it would be cool if a la prometheus, Alef stole the light rather than was given it, which fits with my « fallen angel » theory
owo ?
My theory is that the winged light we collect is the souls of fallen skykids, they grant us flight to assist us in returning their souls to their bodies. that way they can finally escape eden and move on. the statues we see before stormlock were too late to be saved, and their souls were destroyed only leaving behind a stone husk that disintegrates in the wind
kinda off the topic but i wanted to throw that out there^
Oh, is ti dark sad theory time?!
heck yeah it is
it always is !

calcified plant, maybe?
TGC: Sky is suposed to bee heartwarming and cute
Lore channel: So, anyway, the kids are dead...
So this is the darkplant (or darkbud?) u can't burn. It really grey, no other color.
@hushed steeple maybe this is good plant
perhaps its a carving of a plant bud, like as a model
@normal berry if you stand on it it makes the plant texture noise
like the petrified fungi in the forest
i was gonna say thet maybe upon discovering the darkplants they wanted to study them further, so they commissioned a stoneworker to carve a recreation of it
but idk
lots of things in sky turn to stone, including the prince
Wait I'll look him up
@hushed steeple dock worker
I was actually thinking that eden turns things into stone
i just dont know the conditions
the caves are, aparently a dock for loadig pots into boats destined to forest/wasteland
now that i think about it don't crabs look pretty stoney
but we see non living things that shouldn't be stone, that are stone
So does this connected to the fact that some living things in Sky world turn to stone?
@hushed steeple ok, this is new to me
not crabs
robots
mushrooms
I believe it was confirmed that they are not crabs but.. something else
Like crabs.... what are they
@hushed steeple cuties :>
their design was meant to mimic something, and when we figure out what it is that was supposed to help us figure what crabs are and where they come from
why did they make sanctuary crabs the scariest
maybe because there's no krill
they scary.... but still cute
they didn't want make the quests too easy
also is it just me or are they bigger than normal crabs
i feel like we should question why crabs are there in the first place
and why there are peaceful crabs
Krills = War machines
Crabs = automatons
me @ the little crabs in office:
🤲
pspspspspsp
me @ the little crabs in office:
🤲
pspspspspsp
@normal berry same theyre just so adorable especially with the smol hats🥺
crabs can see dead people
ah yes office lore
Although, they don't really ram at u? While i was doing the spirit memory there, during the going down part, the crabs will charge at me, but will not hit me
@hushed steeple lucky you. they charged at me with all thy got
office crabs dont charge they just look timid its so cute
Hey small thing, I know I am late to the party, but I don't think hebrew orriginally used spaces. That may cause translation to be even harder
I love languages that make my life harder
Krills = War machines
Crabs = automatons
@mortal viper I believe it was confirmed somewhere that all sky creatures were natural
@normal berry A girl can dream about robotic apocalipse
I want light krill that have sea bunny antennas instead of spikey ones
what if: natural machine
Btw uphread to the YHWH consonants + “adonai” vowels, that’s where the name/word “Jehovah” comes from (non-Hebrew translators didn’t understand context), which was indirectly the source of the name “Jenova” for FF7 devs and thence the founder of TGC
@mortal viper fair
I like where you going @humble barn
thats basically just a biological organism tho?
Final Fantasy VII
Like technically we are natural androids (like us as in the actual person)
robots: intelligent design
organisms: natural selection
still, even if krill/crabs were made by intelligent design that isn't natural thats artificial
@hushed steeple Neither did I, but I am still in love with it
please, watch the remake
since everything in sky is made with intelligent design, they are all artificial to a degree
Jenova said in an interview that his name was from FF7
Jenova = Jehovah (god) + nova (new) = “new god(dess)” tho Mr. Chen didn’r nec’ly know this when he adopted a name from the game
it's pretty much a giveaway, that name's far too distinct to come from anywhere else
wait he renamed himself ?
A reminder to throw everyone off: someine is telling us the story. Lies and non-omnipitent narrators are valid for serious consideration

Ya, cuz when he came to the US his prof couldn’t remember his real Chinese name
megabird demonizing the king
"nova" in the context of "jenova" didn't mean "new" from memory -- it referred to "stars"
s t a r g o d
@thorn spade do not circumvent the language filter here
Nova stella = new star, shortened to nova most of the time
Jenova named himself Jenova back in middle school or high school iirc, for a English class
I am here for the lore and the science side of the chat
actually no, i'm wrong on the "nova" part -- it does mean "new"
Jenova is the lore
i was mixing up the name with its epithet, but that's veering off Sky territory
Jenova is above megabirb
There was an interview where he said his friend named himself “Cloud” but Chen wanted a name even more powerful and “above”
yeah
The narrator may have told us the stars fell when the reality is they left of their own accord or explicitly to cary out tasks on the planet. The narrator may have thought their light was infinate while they were really just too close to the middle to know otherwise.
unreliable narrator makes this feel like we’re legit historians
But “Sephiroth Chen” would’ve meant really cool intro music at conventions
That last one happens a lot - you don't know how endangered something is if you are one of the people who can get it for money.
the most unreliable narrator I ever met
if the narrator is megabirb, wouldn’t they know ? they are omnipotent afterall
unless the narrator is someone else...
omnipotent does not mean they are omniscient or omnipresent
Maybe the narrator is a final message from the king, like a memory

oh hell, tht would be cool
opening lines are king propaganda
you are not immune to propaganda
Also the megabirb may not be bound to truth.
what are these omni- words i do not know?
@hushed steeple omni = all (in latin if I am not mistaken)
i love that image sm
thank you
... Horror idea: megabirb can do mind control
... Horror idea: megabirb can do mind control
@short owl i love that
Omnipotent: All powerfull
i love stories of corrupt gods ngl
Omniscient: All knowing
Trying to remember a work where you realize the protags think they’re heroes but the readers/audience suddenly realize they’re depraved villains, tho actually that may have happened to some works over time from historical perspective
Okay but think about it, what if he knew he was gonna die, so in his final moments he made sure that his reincarnate(s) were brought into the world knowing something
Omnipresent: Present in all places
I kinda like the idea that the skykid reincarnates were his last ditch effort to right his wrongs
I think megabird is omniscient and omnipresent but not omnipotent
Elders broke free of the mind control. When we "bring the stars home" we put them back under Megabirb's influence, which is why they seem happy... And why the spirits are happy to create tools that allow them to return with us.
the king is the good guy all along

Brick, we can't trust what you say
I prefer that he wasn't evil, just made some huge stupid mistakes
We're the king
u can trust me ;>
So instead of “The oroblem of Evil”, Skyworld has “The problem of... kreb”?.
like a eden-sized mistake
Eden was intended to sap out Megabirb's influence and make life easier for everyone, but it turns out Megabirb is kinda important for beings of light to live
I love that theory
We’re redshirts
@hushed steeple, your time to explain what Deuteragonist means
Each player may be their own protagonist, but to everyone else they’re background or at best support
I wanna stay here but candle run is calling me
this feels very...lucifer-y
Megabird can control every being, they have no free will
alef pulls a lucifer and goes against this, and thus is cast down, and eventually the other elders follow
they work to free the people of sky from mega bird’s control
do you mean redshirts like blackshirts and reds
Elder Futhark!!!
From a global perspective, nothing we do effects permanent change in Skyworld for anyone else; even Ark restoration isn’t mirrored for other players unless they do it themselves
Prarie was happy to transform the energy into something useful and harmless. Isle was already gone (and told us to save them bc megabirb made them). Forest panicked when they saw it and quickly used their materials to make it go away. Valley thought it was dangerous in our hands, so they prioritized getting it. We gave it to Wasteland in a way easy to get rid of it. Then Vault tries to teach us to reject it.
aLso this works if alef steals the light from orbit to bring to the people so they have the same amount of power as megabird with the light
But it seems still not related
@short owl ‘it’ ?
It being the light specifically given to us to "return" to the elders
ahh
Skyrunes usually have right angles tho sometimes tipped 45 degrees; futhark has a lot more acute angles
theres a real world parallel here i could make but it’s extremely political
Look!!!
Meh, but diamond/almond shape is pretty universal; cf mandorla/amygdala
But we enjoy asking wuestions haha
so here is my two cents: the megabird is like god, just kinda there and lets things take their natural corse. they first made the elders (insert reason for why they left or fell here) the elders land on a planet with people who basically think they are gods, so, they decided to play gods (with the king being the big boss of them) and tend to their little kingdoms in the sky, they discover they can use light as an energy source. industry and manufacturing happens but they want more. so what do they do? instead of making your average diamond, they decide to make a giant power diamond that utilizes the light from the cosmos itself, and what better place to put it than in the epicenter of their society? so, turns out using an ancient source of power as your very own battery may have not been a good idea after all. It was too much for the eden diamond to handle so it overloads, fractures and BOOM here we are now. the megabird decides "aight, your timeout is over" and creates and sends its latest species, the skykid, to retrieve the elders and return them to... space?
Sadly, by the time we see the elders, we have spread the light to their people. The elders couldn't bear to lose those they had left. So... the elders feel they have no choice but to return.
so we’re just locking them up again ?
Wait so King is the Yazidi peacock angel?
the w h a t
h u h ?
MANDORLA!!!
@celest spoke ... The rest of us may need... Context
@lethal stump under the mind control theory... Yes.
Peacock angel = an archangel who came down to earth to rule men; other religions identify him w/ Lucifer/Satan tho Yazidis say it’s not like that
ok then under the mind control theory, megabirb has to be the narrator, it can’t be the king or he’d warn us
Tho idk this is based on looking up why the Yazidis are so persecuted so I may misunderstand
Hey! i got a theory of why the isle elder isn't on the eden door (yes i know it is because he was used as a tutorial in the old version of sky so technically wasn't a legit elder) but i have a lore reason as to why
Is there concept/fanart of what King looked like?
@lethal stump or any one under forced influence of Megabirb yes
@ornate quiver
Thanks guys💜
All those turrets/towers in Wasteland are King statues
wait a sec...if the king is just trying to distance himself from megabird does that make ‘corruption’ good ? or is it still a bad ?
I'm just now getting into lore after a couple months playing
ok then under the mind control theory, megabirb has to be the narrator, it can’t be the king or he’d warn us
@lethal stump imo the megabirb is chill and if it is the king it is basically a pre-recorded message for us
imo megabirb is chill
@normal berry so no mind control ?
imo, no mind control
- throws phone at ground and breaks skateboard in half *
Actually all this analysis is kinda making me reassess gameplay in the sense of ultimate futility other than selfish aggrandizement except to the extent that you help others
Omg it is real life
Haha
the elders were just big dumb - dumb so megabirds like "ok? you wanna be like that huh? time out on that planet!"
i like the mind control theory ngl, it just rlly butters my toast
Is that a human figure?
the prince
a figure of a kid
the king is really just a mech suit for the prince huh?
(splits realms apart) “Am I gonna have to separate you? Don’t make me come over there!”
Are this server chatlog and the pinned messages the only lore sources available to read?
so yeah my theory is megabird is not an evil dictator but a REALLY tired parent
Still fond of crack theory that shipwreck was mecha suit for krill
dskhlfdhf what
well lore sources are scattered throughout the internet
There are all the dev images TGC has been tweeting this week
I would like to make it clear that mind control was a crack theory that spawned from unreliable narrator and got out of control
it’s a cool theory though
So make and follow TGC Twitter?
Also that will not stop me from making more. Runaway theories are fun
I think you can read twitter posts without making a Twitter account for yourself
Don’t need a twitter acct to read tweets— check links in news channel
Ok so back to my "isle elder isn't on the eden door for a lore reason" theory: basically he is this older and wiser dude that said "hey maybe the eden diamond is a bad idea" the rest of the elder got big mad so decided to build the door without him to rub it in his face
daleth: hey...what if this isn’t a good idea ?
everyone else: >:/
alef: now u aren’t invited to the cool door club.
Isn’t Isle elder kinda the shape of... the whole door
Maybe no; it’s been a while since I’ve gone dying
... Oh... What if the daily mission of "relive the spirit" is actually re-collecting the mind of a spirit that slipped free?
i mean the isle door and eden door do look similar but that's a whole other can of worms
Why is it always one of the same 2 spirits per realm tho— and that dang forest manta
Actually Valley is always the same ONE
i think that’s more game mech than anything, Kat
Its easier to program i guess
Sadface when lore succumbs to logistics
nah, thats one less lore for me to decipher
Cry has heartbreak that's difficult to ignore. that would pull them free. Wave misses their friends and that can remind them of who they are. The feeling of climbing that mountain with a friend left them with a longing that pulls them away. Brave spirit knows how to push back against mental pressure. Vault spirits have a honed mind, and may be able to force themselves out due to training.
Tho can lead to new pseudolore like capes being made of light (no shadows)
they are
That reminds me WHERE WAS CRY SPIRIT’S TUNNEL GOING cuz I checked if it lines up with tree and iirc it’s just regular wall from outside
Yeah that was odd
imo the cape is the light kiddos way of saying "here you can fly now also can you maybe free us from eden while you're at it please? that would be nice thanks"
Hmm maybe should be regarded as bug, like wacky sun parallax flying above Forest entrance clouds
@celest spoke it was a choice to spare people's phones
tfw you remember the cape's old deigns
Ya, I know about the programming reason for no cape shadows but point was logistical constraints can spawn lore anyway
do you know our shadows are a bunch of circles
Like my lore on why you can hear bells at old quest sites
you can what
If you sit, you can activate them but not complete them :(
really
Yeah you hear the ting sound like when you sit at Valley races
imma go do that rn
the easiest one to find is the circular platform in front of the dead bird in citadel,
if you sit on the stone circle thing you can hear meditation bells
its prolly just something that was never removed/ a reference to old beta
but my made up lore for it is that certain places can trigger old memories... like from a previous incarnation
maybe they were things the king did ? like...spirit memories but not connected to a person but rather a place
Yeah, like that!
Is it known why there's a dead birb
We will probably never see him again but i hope they continue to give us more bits and pieces of information about him.
do y’all think the prince could fly ? since he looks like basically a skykid ?
@ornate quiver that quest was originally for the manta voice, before it was later replaced by a spirit quest, that "bird" is probably a manta(so i should probably start calling it that) that marks the manta voice quest!
@lethal stump considering how we have never seen the elders fly, i doubt it
Ahh okay so it's more of a memorial/leftover asset for an old quest
yeah but the prince is a funky elder, he looks nothing like them
I think the prince could fly
@ornate quiver Yes, i just made up my own lore for it
yeah but the prince is a funky elder, he looks nothing like them
@lethal stump fair
his unique flying ability in his times should have made him really special
One of these days ima make a redesign for the prince and king
So prince is king?
and maybe that’s why the elders respected him
yeah
