According to the intro the six elders, plus the king (eden’s elder) lived in the orbit and fell when darkness came (or darkness came because they fell, it is not clear which one is the correct cause-consequence). They started living in the clouds with the people that already existed there (Paintings in Isle show people worshiping the stars before their fall) until something went very wrong in Eden and everything collapsed.

Another theory:

Isle made the birds to transport the light, prairie shows how they learned to turn the light into butterflies to store and transport in jars, forest shows how they began creating the dark crystals that could be charged with light and used to power machinery, which brought about a golden age that's represented in valley, but overuse of the light brought darkness and a fall of their civilization and they were pushed into the golden wasteland where they created the vault of knowledge to pass on their story as a warning to future generations (us)

That's my headcanon for the basic story, there's plenty other details to dive into though

I think each area as we explore it time wise is current time, but the story each realm tells takes place in a linear progression of time telling a story of the rise and fall of the elders civilization, represented at the end of vault cutscene

So I was looking at all the new spirit names and I noticed something for the call spirits. All of them have _ Whisperer in their title. Like this one from Valley is the Manta Whisperer.

Anyways I was curious about Vault’s call spirit since those mantas are different than normal, and that one is called a Memory Whisperer!

So maybe the big starry mantas and the weird long creatures are memories of some sort?

theres three children (red capes), two young adults (black capes) and another elderly (white cape)
three children: dance from isle, confetti from prairie, head pat from forest
two adults: sparkler from valley, dont do from wasteland
the other elderly: wise stance in vault

the final cutscene of the season shows the sunny area at night. its dinner time, and all of the family are sitting around the dining table. you hand the bell back to the grandma, and she invites you to sit with the rest of the family, which is by far the GREATEST seasonal ending rn imo

• the dance spirit, imo, looked to be the youngest. dressed in warm clothing, looks like snowpants. he explores the hill at the end of the cloud tunnel; having the curiosity that babies/young children have
• confetti is a young child who was picking flowers in her memory, another thhing children do (for whatever reasons) (i dont remember her cutscene)
• head tousle’s memory shows him storming off after geting frustrated from learning the guitar. this matches forest’s overall mood of the emo teenager
• valley is a young adult who was going thru the maze in the temple. she also reminds me of the confetti spirit. idk why but i think she matches valley
• dont go spirit was hunting for crabs in graveyard. the crab ended up escaping. the struggle to gather food in a barren wasteland seems to match the realm in a way
• lastly the wise stance spirit was exploring the archives. i think we can connect that old = wise, which is basically what vault is

so it's always a given that if you lose all your light in any place other than the Garden of Eden (last place) your sent to the Death Room to regain a WL, allowing you to go back and just recollect?
but what if other skykids didn't go through that?
what if, here me out, the light or wax that forms skykids freezes and makes the flameless skykids into statues that withered and broke due to all the wind and stone?

this applies to the large area before the WL hallway

also those two symbols do seem to me like Organic vs Advancement, yes, but it could be more,
notice how the crabs and krill seem to have no light making them up, yet crabs straight up center on others, heat signaturing if you will, and krill using their light to find other light organisms, from the inside out in their case
in sky your light is similar to a flame, weak yet powerful is you know what I mean exactly, and comes from the outside in (taking and giving light in the game is a biggie for me)

i agree with this theory because eden is the most affected/darkness-infested place in the whole game with wasteland being a close second i'd say this goes with the eden diamond exploding that led to darkness spreading throughout the kingdom theory, which would explain why eden and everything in it would be affected the most

My theory is that krill and crabs attack manta and skykids because they see the light as a threat when they hit you they don’t really absorb light from you in a noticeable way they just want to eliminate the light before it kills them. The thing is that skykids and light creatures don’t know how to use their light to destroy the krill and crabs

I think krill and crabs are just designed as pure forces of destruction. Light creatures create light in others, while dark creatures destroy light in others

At the beginning of the game the glyphs show stars falling from the sky. And maybe they're not the elders. The people are shown praying,  then celebrate when the stars fall. They then collect lights and ship them to one of the temples. On the doors to the dawn temple, it shows them giving the light up. In the spirits memories one of them shows the dawn elder teaching(?) The people. The people are also praying in that glyph and light is coming down. There's a star in the sky that has the same halo as The Child of Light. (The same one often theorized to be the king.) The isle elder is teaching about the king, and possibly about the stars in general.

Another way I see the beginning glyphs, is the stars falling are the elders. The people were praying for them to come. Then the elders had them collect light from around sky. I have now idea what those balls of light are. (I keep calling them light, but they could definitely be somethin else.) Where are they taking this light? What are they doing with it? Did it fall out of the sky too?

In the other land of sky it also shows them collecting light. The butterflies in prairie, etc. There seems to be a focus in this culture around collecting, using, and storing light.

Also in the elder cut scenes our child is always giving light to the elders.

Those little lights they're giving is also the same symbol shown above the temples in this

@magic stream those are just normal candles, like white candles usually not gives light (wax) only some candles can. You can stacks those candles in your inventory so it means they just lights, not candles. Thats my opinion

The red candles are what always gives the light(wax). The candle we always take out to light lanterns, or burn plants

When you takes out candle to burn and do something, the spark on your chest disappear, it only get back once you put out your candle (for a closer look, use the emote that held the candle up on the head of 8 players puzzle fro Prairie)

In real life, when you put 2 candles (one has burned, one doesn't) next to each others, it will light the one didn't have the flame. Same like when 2 Sky kid can charging each others. Basically we born from star but we're more likely just a candle

I'm still not convinced we are a being of light. We may be a vessel for one though, constantly adding wax to ourselves and feeding on the light which feeds on our wax.

The end result: we're less a candle and more a lamp
