Like I said earlier, the ascent of vault isn’t much of a physical thing. It’s more of deep meaning and representation, devs even hinted that. And what we see simply supposed to give us knowledge and the whole vault ascent is jus a symbolic journey

ahem.
When the Ark was trying to leave the Golden Wastleland, possibly as it was falling to corruption and ruin, something struck the Ark's oars. This damage threw it off course and into the mountains, the Ark basically being pin-balled through the mountain range until it slammed into its current spot. The people who were fleeing the area on the Ark resorted to using their supplies, and possibly the pool of water you go to to talk to the spirit guy. However the corruption and darkness spread to that area as well, dark plants forming in their fields, lush ground wilting away, etc. However with the last of their power they sealed some life into the various lights, the ones you collect now, to various parts through some magic so that they won't fade away as they would be in the biome that can sustain that light. And slowly, everything eroded and died.

Supposedly, the thing that struck the Ark before it slammed into the mountains and into the area it is located in is that Dark Dragon you see in the mountains. That Dark Dragon now looms over its territory like a Lion.

Maybe it was a conjunction of storm and krill.

The storm made the crew of the Ark lost, and move into the mountains. The Krill took the advantage of their vulnerable area and basically beat up the ark to a point it crashed there.

Like, using brute force to "throw" the ark into the mountains and damage its oars.

#

Without the oars it can't function, and so it crash lands.

#

Oh and also you know the guy that sends you to get the lights?
I have a theory that guy was actually the captain of the Ark's crew.

I kind of assumed that the ark and company were fleeing the wasteland and got hit by a storm. Its not uncommon for ships to fall off course in them. This could have directed the ships to the krill, which ended in them being attacked. Between the storm and krill damage, it could have caused the ships to ultimatwly crash in the desert and leave the crew/passengers stranded.

One my my theories is that bc all the elements were together in one boat, it caused an unstable power and this attracted the deadly storm that caused them to crash. There are no storms in wasteland and isn’t it strange that the storm isn’t there anymore. In my opinion, I think the Orbs all being in one place caused the storm and it’s not natural

Here's how I see it.
Our crew is piloting through the storm, dodging the mountains and what not, when suddenly a Krill basically flies at them.

I believe that darkness can corrupt land, water, etc, but not animals. The animal’s opposite can kill or hurt it, but not change it. Light and dark animals are formed from light and darkness, rather than that animal changing sides through corruption
