Well, in Biblical terms Eden fell because of eating an apple from the Tree of Knowledge, so the sphere could represent the fruit of prideful overreach— kersplodey red power diamonds. Which makes the role of Forest Aunt interesting as a sort of Technomage Eve harvesting stuff from trees.
Also, if you look closely at the Eden mural, it looks like a kneeling figure with a serpentine krill rising up behind it....

@heady sinew there's speculation that it could be metaphorical for the Apple of Knowledge that the figure is eating. I think the last stage of Eden was also called Original Sin at one point?

@hoary sigil I also thought the same thing! Isle has almost nothing, Prairie has a few buildings, at the Forest everything gets a bit more complex, the Valley would be the peak of everything and then something happens and we get the Wasteland. Not sure when the Vault happens tho 👀

and maybe 2-4 seconds of stalling between moves

and randomly, they will charge straight forward. it seems theres a trigger for this, but i have no clue what that may be
but yes they always turn on an axis when theyre not charging and sometimes they will randomly change direction of the turn. but they will never move directly backwards if that makes any sense

the last thing ive observed about crabs is that they hide in their shell from time to time. usually if one crab does it, any other crab in the area will follow suit. idk if this is the result of timers for the hide or what

I was observing some tame crabs and they only had the four walking legs, no chelicerae/grabbers (so maybe that’s why they don’t attack? tho they don’t get angory and try to headbutt you either) When you flip them, little dark bits fall off; when there are no more dark spots, the flipped crab disappears and returns to the tame spawn room.
Wrt the old idea of creatures of light growing more wings as they evolve/age, that kinda suggests to me that crabs really are bitty baby krill and somewhere there are like giant centipede teen krill with an intermediate number of legs/segments.

No the answer was that real time shadows are resource intensive so they aren’t rendered (if you look closely your shadow is just a bunch of blobs connected to each other and not your actual sky kid)

I was watching them wrt how their legs move on their bodies rather than overall path, tho upside-down crab not nec’ly moving same way as rightside-up crab (esp when put on Wasteland fire lantern)

Ok, so I watching the crabs at the broken temple, and I let out a long call and knocked one over. A few other rushed over, almost as if to help it. Another thing I saw was that when they’re not on their backs, they walk similarly to a horse or a turtle (shh yes I’m bring the turtle thing back T^T) and when they’re on their backs, it’s more like a horse’s gallop, cus they’re trying to get up off of their backs.
