the way i've usually gone is by doing a flying OOB up and around the clouds up high before coming back down near the pipe

What will happen if you will stuck while bring reborn?
I once stuck at the building, and fell into the hole, wasted all my flights trying to get out, and was saved only by the recharging spell. If I would tried to teleport home, would I be teleported from home to Eden, or to the reborned place?

I think it is usually luck.
Though I think dying near your friend and both of you dying at the nearly the same time will improve your chances of ascending together.

If you unlock warp with your friend, you can warp to them as you ascend. You will be holding their hand so you won't get split up. This works after you have hugged shiny boi.
