@dim geyser No, that isn't it. I'm not new to the game, I'm good at Eden. I get them all in one go with about 25 stars left each time. It's the mechanical function of having the control removed from the player that's still a frustrating experience, regardless of how good I am at the level. The function of losing stars itself isn't the problem; it's the stun-locking and the fact it takes control from the player. It's a UX thing; not so much a problem with the level being intentionally challenging. Like, in my suggestion, I'd replace it with intermittent rain, instead.

I think people are misunderstanding what I'm saying. When I suggest rain as an alternative, I mean like the rain in Hidden Forest, but with an increased rate of charge draining, to a level that mechanically balances out to be as difficult as the current version of the level. Stun-lock isn't difficulty, it's wait time. It's partly the same reason people want an option to skip cutscenes. Taking control from the player isn't a positive mechanic.
@balmy hearth Stunlock is a mechanic in a game that repeatedly locks a character in a loop of getting stunned, usually because there are no i-frames, or because the cause for the stun happens immediately again, in rapid succession, preventing the character from being able to escape the cycle of stunlock. It happens in Eden, even though it isn't a permanent stun-lock. The way the mechanics are currently implemented, there is a stunlock problem.
Also, to say "Everything they added on the game is because they put it there because that’s the meaning and the functionality they wanted to put on" kind of ignores the fact that the game already does change, and not everything that's put in is definitely right, even in the devs' opinions, and the game is already being improved by feedback. And what's implemented, currently, doesn't mean that nothing could be improved upon in any way. My suggestion is to keep the themes of challenge, through use of an alternative mechanic that simply doesn't use stunlocking. In fact, arguably, using rain instead would fit those themes of lack of control even more, because the player couldn't simply dodge it, and it would be a constant factor. It's about alternate game-mechanic ways to create the same intended themes and intended results and challenge, without the one detriment of stunlock in the current mechanics. It's purely a UX thing. I'm not suggesting anything to make the level more boring, or necessarily easier. In fact, ideally, I'd suggest adding rain, and keeping the rocks, but simply taking out only the stun effect. It would still kick out winged light with whatever rate it could be programmed with, and be a genuine challenge. I'd argue it would be more interesting, and enhance the themes.
I mean, nobody's obliged to agree, of course. That's fine. But it is something I've put a fair amount of forethought into, which is why I suggested it.

I was going on my Eden run when someone friended me at the first door.
I accepted it since it looked like it was their first time.
Skip to the actual part of Eden then that’s where are the chaos happens.
The bridge that you have to cross with the krill/dark dragons can sometimes put me off guard and the weird camera angles too.
NOW ME AND THIS OTHER PERSON ARE FALLING INTO WHO KNOWS WHAT.
Luckily I managed to have enough flight power to get us back on the bridge and do a quite successful run.
Definitely one of my most scariest experiences in Eden

I'm still frustrated at Eden tbh. Even after tens of times there it's always a kick in the backpack when the mechanics of the last stage is so against you. It would be very different if the storm was for example, strong wind and rain with lightining strikes instead.
It just feels like you're unable to fight back.
Very poor design. It's like a poorly designed fighting game character, where one is overpowered and when you fight it you can't do anything and it just sucks.
If you were able to call out pings 
to stop the rain, or simply change the rain to something like blue rain for a period that would allow you to re-kindle in the storm perhaps
Then again, emotion is what they want with it and it symbolizes the end
When you figure out that it's just lighting the star children and then dying just to reborn it's not so scary, but the knockdown is fundamentally frustrating
That's the only thing I wish they would redesign

@near forum personally I actually really like the brutality of the rock rain? Like you said it heightens the emotion.
Persevering though that struggle pushes all players to be heroic. I feel like it is really meaningful and gutsy game design. It doesn't coddle players or give a power fantasy like in other mainstream games.

I also like the way stormlock is now. It does give you a feeling of helplessness, but I think that’s part of the story. The whole time in the game, you’re pretty much fully in control. You can run and hide relatively easily everywhere else. Stormlock is different because it takes that and subjects you to the whims of the storm (which are still somewhat predictable). You’re pushed to the edges of your ability and are rewarded well

True, but it becomes a more of a been there done that situation. The first time is when it's more impactful, and the idea of not getting knocked down while doing eden just seems like it would take away a level of panic, in turn making the juxtaposition of orbit less impactful. It's the first run that eden is designed for, that's not going to change for the people who are grinding all the impact out of it

the last part of eden is scary at first and then it just gets really annoying since i do want to get a move on but i keep falling backwards from getting hit and when i get up it just happens again and sometimes i just get caught in a loosing-star-falling loop
in the non-stop rock storm especially but the other areas are unpredictable for me so sometimes i'll wait and be like "yeah! the rocks stopped for sure now they haven't appeared for a good minute" and then go outside my hidey-hole and get pummeled and then hide again and then i'll have the same train of thought haha

Continuing the eden talk, with the "poor design" that is intended to be the end and be a very intense experience, is fair game.
However, the problem is that the game does a very poor job explaining beforehand that this is a mechanic that can and will happen.
Somewhat, the issue with eden feeling terrible to play would be solved if they added a section that knocks you down as a sort of preperation to it. Introducing the player to the concept that the storm exists and you can get knocked down in such an environment.
Because rain, wind and the occasional krill is the only thing you have as "enemies" of the same magnitude you are clueless when presented with this seemingly unsurmountable obstacle that defies all your previous experiences.
And to be perfectly honest, the best I've played through eden was when the bug to stop the storm was still possible to do. You were able to outsmart the game, stop the storm and collect all the statues and choose for yourself to end the stage by submitting yourself to the storm.
In my opinion that was the more powerful emotion for me and it didn't involve being as frustrated because the start already has intermittent storm that is hard to navigate.
Imagine if the storm was intermittent all the way to the sand dunes, and because you're so close to the diamond you have to choose to fly into the storm instead.
The inevitability of death and the concept of "the end" can still fully be present and changes it to a power to the player who must still die, without the frustration of the game mechanics.
I feel they've definitely talked about this a lot and Jenova Chen likely has very strong feelings for how he wants this presented.
This is something we're free to disagree with as no one is perfect and as players/customers we can discuss the product. A live service game vs a finished product is another interesting topics too tbh.

The first stage is just climbing a steep path. Strong winds are timed to increase and decrease their intensity here. This is also the first place you see falling rocks. It’s only for a small bit, and the rocks are also timed. If they hit you they take your light. After the falling rocks bit, you’ll come to a large crack. You can only jump over it during a lapse in the wind. If you try while the wind is blowing strongly, you’ll be pushed back

Depends on when Sunday PST is in your time zone. If you went Sunday PST then yup you’ll have to wait for next Sunday for the statues to be reset, but if your Sunday is before 12AM Sunday pst then you can go again this week and still get candles

nah you only get more from buying them from spirits
each one you buy from a spirit gives you another wingbuff when you're reborn

I was just strolling thru eden for fun and I saw someone do a shortcut of the first area, you dont even have to struggle with rocks or wind

Just had to say that I’ve always planned my Eden runs.. too scary, etc. Last night I went from Vault to Eden with a few kids I’d met and what a great run! Sooo much fun and such teamwork. And I’d never been so comforted before having friends to fly with after it was over... sigh! Love this game!
