my weakness is that I canā€™t tackle two notes at a time yet - not because I canā€™t tap two notes at the same time, but because doing this often confuses me

I find it easier to tap once at a time, and this makes learning a song faster

Also, did you take into account diatonic trills? There seem to be places where a single note is repeated instead of two notes played alternatively very fast.

  1. Playing notes based on videos of the song, and how high or low the next notes were
  2. Finding the chords that match the chords from the actual song (in Sky)
  3. Rearranging the clips to play the full song
    After that, I played the basic song in Sky and experimented with different notes. That is what lead to the final version of the song.
    I hope some of this information is useful for those who want to make songs!

@modern jewel Iā€™d say thereā€™s a good number of people who use each system. Itā€™s both confusing and cool that people have been able to make several notation systems that work for different peopleā€”lots more than whatā€™s available in most of the western world for music anyway.

Itā€™s not too difficult to transcribe CDEFGAB notation to ABC1-5 if thatā€™s what you use. If you use the visual system, the pinned messages have a link to program that allows you to use a desktop keyboard to create instrument keyboard images, itā€™s pretty cool.

@modern jewel I use CDEFGAB because I find it easier. You look up the letter notes of a song you want to learn and can play it quickly on your Sky instrument instead of converting it to ABC 1-5 which will take a lot of time imo

@cobalt lagoon The audio/video lag is because iOS devices record in peak frame rate. You can use a program like Handbrake to change the video to "constant frame rate" and it will resync the audio. It drove me crazy as well until I found a fix.

It involves going past the first stage of Storm, and telling notes by ear. Try using a metronome to help keep the beat. It works for me. Soundcorset is the one I use but I think anyone will do. Just remember to use the in-game recorder.

I often donā€™t bother with a lot of the chords out of convenience, but they sound nice. They are also probably not even close to what the actual chords are. Also, I donā€™t bother with the A5 (B3 B5), A3 (B3 B5), A4 (B3 B5) thing that could go in the background, because Iā€™m not talented
