what exactly are you confused on? the buttons on sky in relation to actual notes (like A-G) or the notation we share songs here in? (A1, B3, C4 etc)
the notes in sky in relation to actual (for example) piano notes can change based on where you are in sky. that's why we share in the A-C 1-5 notation. but typically you'll be playing somewhere where the key is C major
check the music guide in the wiki, its very helpful!

If you mean the straight buttons, it's based horizontally, starting from the top left to the top right, before going to the middle left and then middle right, so on and so forth, getting higher as you go

@hot urchin Do you mean, like, if a song we like has a large range of notes, how do we fit it into two octaves? I try to start at a lower pitch than the original song, if the original stays in two octaves. For example, if the starting note matches perfectly with B3, I start the song on A1 and go from there. Otherwise, I’ll jump up or down an octave at certain sections (which can be hard to make sound good 
)

The wiki basically states:
- what song sheets you can buy and from where
- the instrument notes in specific areas
So when you buy an instrument from the spirit, you can “wear” it, like how you can change costumes at the stones area.
After buying an instrument, you can take it out to play by tapping on the wing icon in the top middle of your screen.
Now, the instrument will be in a different key (sound different basically) depending on where you are at, as stated in the wiki. This makes it easy to find the place to play/record in if you have a particular song in mind and know the key of it (or after googling). At home area and most (if not all) spawn areas are in C Major. Details see wiki for key changes
You can tap on notes to play your instrument, or play the music sheets you got from blue spirits.
The wiki also states what squares represent what notes. This is useful for ppl wanting to transpose songs, with ABC being the row and 12345 being columns. Some ppl just prefer to trial and error and road learn their songs tho. Up to personal preference.

that really dissont chord after the first riff . u might have to get creative
but i transposed it to C so u can practice in home, but i think its in B major, so u probably wanna find a place with that chord if u are working by ear.

All of the first 6 music sheets were available during the soft launch winter season, and people who played during soft launch will still have the sheets they collected. (my friend Fiqo, who played during soft launch, has them all.)
Sometime after the season i think, there was a reshuffle of cosmetics shops in the spirits, and music sheets 3,4&5 were sold by regular spirits rather than seasonal. It seems music sheet 6 hasn't been allotted a space yet, so new players after global can't buy it. (for a while, people couldn't buy chibi mask/pink, purple, black and white capes either)

Here are my awful scribbled notes if anyone wants to start giving it a try. The two notes at the very beginning “we” and the very end of each verse are optional. The first note in each line does the job but I do like the depth and emphasize the extra notes add.

So basically on the end of every last note on the line if you add it with the A-5 it just kinda emphasizes it

Does anyone understand what causes instruments to jump octaves? I only own the small bell and harp, but both are jumping wildly between 3 octaves*. Sometimes I can only get in 2 notes between jumps. 😶
*I’m not sure it’s truly moving by whole octaves musically, but they take drastic jumps in pitch so it’s being really tough for musically-untrained me to figure out..

Bah, my only theory at this moment is that the BG music somehow affects it, but I’ve got no idea how that would work. Octaves seem stable in quiet areas, like isle of dawn, but in the lobby of valley of triumph, after the BG music plays itself out, that’s when and where I get the most octave jumps. If anyone has more theories / actual explanation I’d be glad to know / be pinged. 🤔

Im not a fan of the horn at all. It has nice resonance, but when its so low i find the melodies kind of get muddy.. I feel same about the bass drum which is also out of tune for added bonus.

But I get what you mean, certain songs sadly just sound not too good on it
I might get a harp cuz I wanna be able to play certain songs that just don’t sound right

I agree - I wish there was a lower instrument that's not too low but of different timbre - for example a cello.
@atomic bloom you can check the 'Sky Music Scale Guide' on the wiki - it tells you the different key signatures of different areas. Usually you have to wait for the background music to stop playing to stabilize the key, but I've found that that doesn't work sometimes as well (especially if the music is neverending, like in the forest). I've mentioned in 'suggestions' that we should have the option to turn of background music but I'm not sure if it'll be considered.
