Take the background picture first, its easier to edit in the figures later on than taking the same shots for the exact same or similar one.

I would also suggest to take full body of the figures. Its usually have higher quality and you are free to adjust however you want. Also tl ensure that when you need to enlarged some figures, they wont turn out to have lower quality. The lighting is a bit tricky but nothing an airbrush and some overlays cant fix
