This happens because you haven't relived the Forgetful Storyteller's memories for the first time yet. Once you do, the daily quest will be available. You can find the spirit's location here:

Claiming the Daily Quest Reward

After completing the quest, you can alternatively claim the reward directly from the daily spirit instead of in the Home Shrine.

💡Notes for the daily:

1. You can use the clouds to get to the mountains faster. ☁️
2. Switch your camera to "Selfie Mode."
3. Adjust your position or wait/observe for the bubble to appear/camera pulsates, indicating you’re in the correct angle/range for taking the photo.

Fair point. Each to their own, I'd say. On most days I enjoy being around other people. I do not need to know everyone or see everyone lit up but being not alone, running into the same people 3 times in the same zone because they run a different route, bumping heads over a very robust and persistent dark plant while trying to complete the zone in a good time...

I like to "race" versus other people and see if I can still optimise my 100% routes (I usually do not skip stuff) ... that's part of my enjoyment. Doing it alone feels empty and grindy to me

princess being lower to the ground than piggy = helps burn plants/light candles more
at the same time ^ = princess candle will go out more often in water like wasteland or forest
