#Discord Alternative

Discord seems to be a problem for a bunch of feature and interaction with neuro and the community like:

-The long loading time/crashes of community art when neuro try to react to the are.
-Vedal having to juggle audio channels to be able to speak with neuro/Discord audio jankiness
-Discord crashing during events like Evil's birthday
-Concern of the security/privacy of the user/ the long history of discord private user data
-Current decision of discord owners (id age verification)
-etc...

As there been consideration to using other app to try and find a discord alternative like:
-valour.gg (open source, so better possibility for integration?)
-team speak
-others?...

Due to the nature of Discord and issue it causes neuro and vedal for integrations and audio jank, as there been any plan or consideration to move to another website? while it may not be the case i think its an important question to ask, is there a better alternative to discord for Vedal's use case?

The alternatives will most likely need a functional and actually viable API so the twins can continue doing what they do

the UK already integrated age verification last year so if vedal had an issue with that they would have switched then. that points prob not valid atleast.

I see where your coming from but how do you get everyone to migrate to a new platform. How do you get collab partners to switch.

technically vedal could make that choise because this community is so big that it would push others to also make the switch, while it is for shure a somewhat difficult choice, if you want the community art integration to work well and others future integration to work you need to change from discord

There are work arounds for the discord issues that isnt migrating everything to a new platform. For rn I dont see anything changing with discord unless something major actually changes that does break neuros integration

the answer is no until all of these are met:

  1. either good or discord-compatible api for fetching art, joining voice calls, and all the stuff that is needed
  2. all of neuro's collab partners agree to move to this new platform (aka the facebook problem)
  3. easy to use for everyone involved (not necessarily about how easy it is to do things, more like how familiar is it)
  4. their servers can handle all of that (should be a given for a chatting platform)
  5. downtime doesn't exist/is very rare (discord is already doing this, check their status page's downtime history if you don't believe me)
  6. everyone else decides to move to that platform (battle testing it basically)

its probably a good idea to have at least a working backup system for voice calls via Teamspeak or something similar when discord has problems again

I feel like its best to set up a backup for a browser based VC. Just so partners dont have to download anything

actually he could try to get a backup that works with twitch's knock feature as that has the ability to do audio

I think the "everyone has to migrate to this platform" is the biggest hurdle, are collab partners like camila, cerber, etc. really gonna move to a completely different platform JUST so they can talk to neuro and/or evil, and those two are frequent collab partners, imagine trying to convince a new collab partner they need to download a platform they may have never heard of or used
