As we have just seen, discord is the backbone of the entire project, literally nothing works without it.
Can I suggest that Sonobus is used as a backup. It is p2p so it can’t break, and (iirc) it doesn’t need port forwards, so collab partners can just use the phone app .etc in a password locked session.
It is however missing encryption and echo cancellation, which may be a dealbreaker for this big of a project.
Just a suggestion.

But actually, not to be that guy but a project of this size shouldn’t be relying on other companies with software that can go down even if they have gone 30 days without downtime

Yeah pretty much, sonobus is easy to use
If these vtubers are willing to install vtube studio and figure out how to use toggles and join rooms together etc etc then installing sonobus, setting an input and output and joining the room and talking is not rocket science, they’ve got iOS and android apps + the thing will list rooms AND allow you to join via IP if the room server is down. I’m suggesting it as a backup system so it’s not like everyone needs to have it installed, it’s just be an “emergency” system
