#SwarmTube: Swarm emotes brought to YouTube comments section

Have you ever switched from Twitch stream to YouTube and thought the comments are kinda... empty?

I DID

So I made a browser extension that makes use of 7TV API and brings ALL SWARM EMOTES, displaying them in the YouTube comments. With this extension you will be able to see and type all your favourite emotes into the comments for everyone with the extension installed to see.

Now let's get to the facts.
What it DOES have:

  • Autocomplete
Full autocomplete triggered with colon (:) to prevent typos and speed up typing.

  • Emote picker
Makes use of already existing emoji picker YouTube provides and adds a category for Swarm emotes, making it easy to find forgotten emotes or search for specific ones.

  • Emotes excluder
At some point you might stumble upon emotes that are annoying to read outside of Swarm community, hence there's a system allowing you to add emotes you want to exclude from displaying in the YouTube comments.

  • Emote resize
Highly doubt the current emote size is going to annoy any of you, yet for the peace of mind there's an option to resize emote size to your liking (from 1-4x)

  • Swappable Emote Sets
In 7TV ecosystem, each streamer has their own emote set. If you don't want to use Neuro-sama emote set (for whatever reason), you are able to switch to a different streamer's emote set just by typing their Twitch username. ||NOTE: This function requires Twitch Authentication(read-only, optional)||. More info on the GitHub page.

What it DOES NOT have (yet):

  • Native Twitch Emotes (RESOLVED IN 1.24)
~~This extension focuses on the 7TV emotes since it's easier to use and doesn't require Twitch login. If enough of you will want the native Twitch emotes as well, I will try to work on it.
    ~~

  • YouTube shorts support
While the emotes are displaying correctly, YouTube shorts uses different structure which prevents Autocomplete or Emote picker to work correctly.

  • Non-Chromium browsers support (RESOLVED IN 1.13)
The extension currently supports only chromium based browsers. The support for Firefox and Safari is planned in the future and I will make sure to push it as soon as possible.

KNOWN BUGS:** (RESOLVED IN 1.13)**
I am already aware of Autocomplete and Emote picker not working in the replies (emotes are still displayed correctly), fixing this is my current goal and will update the extension as soon as possible.

Setup?
No setup needed. Simple plug-and-play, works on installation.

That's about it for the introduction, if you want more visual introduction you can check out the GitHub page for the extension at the bottom of this post.
For the installation you can click the link from Chrome Web Store and install it directly into your browser from there.

Now go and do what SWARM DOES BEST. CONFUSE THE NON-EXTENSION USERS WITH THE POWER OF EMOTES LETSGO

  • Major bugfix
The biggest bug so far was the autocomplete and emote picker not working in the replies. NOT ANYMORE. Autocomplete and emotepicker works for EVERY comment field (yes, every. Even Shorts caught strays). So now you can fully enjoy the experience!

GUYS guys I think I MIGHT be able to add native Twitch emotes into the mix buuuut that would most likely require Twitch login on install (or maybe I would do like a checkbox for Twitch emotes?).

Lack of our Hype Train emotes kinda annoys me so I might do that if you're ok with the login. I wanted to keep the login optional but I guess this MIGHT be the end for that

Yeah I would say that's the case. In some security updates from Twitch API they now not only want to know WHAT app but also WHO made the API call. Those two are not optional and we cannot even get the emotes without them. I don't think it's really stated whether they use it for verification if you have the emotes or just for their own telemetrics and logs

#

Still I will probably do like a switch for it in the popup to keep the login optional

#

most of the emotes is from 7TV either way

NEW UPDATE GUYZZ neuroDinkDonk

The new 1.24 version has arrived!

WHAT'S NEW?

  • Twitch Native emotes
Finally here, all working and cool as ever! We have 400 new emotes provided by Twitch.tv from both Global and Channel emotes we can now freely use. Of course the Twitch Hype Train emotes are also here! Time to FLEX.

The popup also changed a little with the option to turn on/off Twitch emotes at will. The Twitch native emotes are turned off by default so if you want to use them, you will have to go into the extension's popup and turn it on.

The Setup
Actually really easy. Just click the Twitch icon located at the bottom of the popup, click at "reload emotes" that will redirect you to Twitch Authorization page and after you login, simply reload emotes again and** BOOM!** New emotes should be ready for action.

Also the update is only available on Firefox at the moment. Chrome reviewers are slower than Tutel with developing V3 voice LULE
Give it a day or two and it should be up.

That's it for this update!
Have fun guys neuroHeart

Little message for all Chromium peeps in here:

After 3 light years Chrome accepted the update and extension on Chromium is finally up to date neuroHypers

Just realized the extension doesn't work for stream/premiere on YouTube SMH Might want to implement that in future in case something like Neuro Awards today happens again

So, I've been using GlobalTwitchEmotes extension for a while, but the 7tv emotes never worked and now this extension is abandoned.
I was honestly hoping to find a replacement for it, but not just for the Neuro emotes.
