I'm not entirely sure why, but I'm working on a module for Neuro integration with 3D Slicer, an open-source medical imaging, analysis, and control application.
This is an example of a simulated neurosurgical procedure (ventriculostomy) being performed by Jippity in 3D Slicer (MRI/CT images are real and obtained with personal and very informed consent): https://youtu.be/8bjNxxzklfM
My ultimate goal at the moment is to integrate this with a physical robot and have it perform a procedure on a physical medical model. I don't think any medical device company I work with would be happy about this usage, so my current plan is to try to replicate some medical robotics using an open-source robot arm instead.
Procedures are currently pretty hardcoded and I don't have any current plans to generalize it given how specialized each procedure would have to be.
