#Billboards for Neurosama
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
but would the benefits outweight the negatives though?
i think billboards would gain vedal some followers and maybe media coverage but people that are into programming, ai, vtubers, anime or other related interests would've already heard of neuro online so most coming from billboards would probably either not stick for long or hatewatch
Fair point but you miss out on the basis of marketing. There are plenty of people that can get into anime, gaming, streamers, or etc. My 65 year old roommate doesn't own a computer or understand tech but loves AI reddit stories on YouTube and recently is getting into gaming, as an example.
People can spread into new interests and simply knowledge alone is enough. Not everyone watches Nicholas Cage but the fact he's a household name is important. We desire to get to the same point with Neuro. Even a parent or grandparent just going to their child and going "Ya hear about this "Neurosama" thing?" is a victory for us.
Fame spreads fame. The most important part of fame, is reaching those outside your community and drawing in people that would never have been a part of it without you.
As an example, as one man once said, the number one way new Vtubers seem to grow isn't by getting people that already watch Vtubers, but people that have never watched Vtubers.
We really do want to reach people that have 0 info on Neuro. That's the basis of marketing.
i kind of have some of the same concerns
-# (reply to warix)
i understand, that makes sense. i don't really know much about marketing
i guess if vedal is okay with that then we could try but wouldn't the expected cost of thousands make people not want to spend money on that?
also there's the past subscribe to pewdiepie campaign that led to him being associated with many things including a terrorist attack
i'm not saying something near that level would happen with neuro but wouldn't people think of the pewdiepie billboards when seeing yours?
I don't think they'd hatewatch but they'll probably stick for ~2m, leave and never think about it again
(old) New York billboard didn't have the pewdiepie problem
my concern is about having to moderate potential hate spam
Well fortunately the average person outside, by way of touching grass, are much more likely to act normally
there was a neuro billboard already?
Thats why the 10 billboards would be up for a month in ten different areas, with a throughout of 10k people, totaling in 100k people seeing the billboards.
yes, you can try and go find clips of it but there's a chance it may be mostly lost media by now
but that would just bump it by not much, not sure how this would rectify those problems?
i had no idea
is this it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyUQl6KDOxk

Really underestimating fame but I get the concerns. You're worried it won't do enough. But I think it'll have a drastic impact. Besides the people themselves that will look into it, they will also talk about it with peers and family and friends.
The reach will be more than the 100k, especially if any news articles are written about it.
Seeing an anime cat girl on a billboard is not normal for normal people. Especially for a month. That is "Holy shit did you see that thing?" Level of stuff for many people.
The AI aspect will bump it up all the more.
For people that aren't terminally online, gossip is very big.
A. No. I don't think that'd be a concern. It's been many many years since pewdiepie was relevant.
B. Money concerns: Well, we just spent enough for 300k Subs and we don't have a time limit. This is equivalent to 2k subs. Even 5$ can go a long way.
you are very convincing
I've just thought it through.
do you have a general area in mind? for gossip i would guess somewhere near a highschool or a college
Been thinking about this for a while as someone who grew up in a rural/urban large town and saw many, many billboards as my family traveled outside of the town.
No. The research is going to be irritating. We've got to balance cost and area. We need roads, specifically roads, that have 10k people going through within a month but also cost at max $1000.
Every billboard should be in a different state but more west states will be far more accepting of Neuro. California and Washington are easy grabs. Texas for sure. Washington D.C. (or nearby) would be good. New York (the state) wouldn't be bad.
i think a often used road to a major city could be an option as well for people commuting there
Rolls back into cost. Yes, that'd be great, but that might be pricy. Cheap enough for like, the I-9 to St Louis? Maybe. The 99 to Seattle? Too expensive.
i'm not from the states but yea, just giving ideas
All good. Right now in the early stages we need to nitpick to death. Killing easy low hanging fruit problems are currently our best bet.
"Will it do enough?" and "What if it causes hate?" were great first things to kill.
If I can't answer those questions, then what the fuck ya know?
i think we could do a test billboard and see how it did on twitchtracker
lower initial cost and if it succeeds more people will be willing to pitch in
just not during a major event since the birthday billboard happened near or during a subathon so it's hard to see if it had much impact
The problem is that quantity is quality here. We'd see some success but putting ten out at once will cause more, then if we just did 10 one by one for example, by pure fact that more people would be talking about it at once and it'd be a much more 'big deal' type of thing.
I'm not saying no, but a pilot billboard won't be able to show what 10 at once would do.
if you can get people to pitch in then of course
have you considered other types of ads? tv might be too much but maybe a youtube ad would be good
recently there's been this bunny bunny ad on youtube and i've seen a lot of people talk about it online and with online ads you can target interests
I've considered Radio.
We're aiming for the normies here in order to fully go mainstream. But that would be a different project.
Other forms of advertising doesn't really fall under the scope of this specific project.
okay last suggestion then
malls (at least here) have wall tvs with ads you see riding an escalator or walking around
those places usually have normies and because they don't need as much space they could give more eyes for a lower price + qr codes are easier to scan while walking around with a phone than when driving a car
It's not a bad idea, besides the fact that mall popularity has plummeted into the dirt in the U.S. (but I'm sure we could find popular ones), but other forms of advertising in general isn't really the focus. None of us here are the best advertisers ever made, especially with Neuro, and so while we could look into radio, YouTube ads, or mall ads at a later point in another project, this specific project is focused around billboards.
A swarm advertising team is a great idea actually but again, absolutely not the focus of this specific project, so I'll have to table that one for now.
We did billboards for both Neuro and Evil's birthday. One thing you have to mention is you don't have the rights to advertise for this project. They have to be fan celebrations ONLY.
This is one of the main guidelines from the moderation team we had to follow. Only Vedal and his team are allowed to do true advertisements.
Sure but what exactly does this mean? Instead of "*Approved by Vedal" we put "A completely unofficial fan advertisement" on the billboard?
What other effects does that have?
It's mostly the tone/context of your billboard. We made ours "Celebration of Neuro and Evil's respective birthdays" for our example.

Just kind of get an idea of how we toned it it may just be easier to watch all of them in full.
I would suggest you write up a mod mail and ask for the specifics guidelines just to make sure.
Thank you for this. Will do.
