Why did the 7TV emote "sadV" (
) get removed from the emote set? It was an emote beloved by the community and has seen many use cases. It was used a lot (I can't get the number since it was removed). There is no alternative for the emote currently. The absence of the emote can lead to decreased chat interaction because chatters are missing their go to emote for a reaction. The removal kind of removed a part of the channel. Please add it back.
#(Off-topic) 7TV emote "sadV" removal

What emote am I supposed to use now for sad situations ;(
Mods just took 6 month to realize its not appropriate for the channel after they nuked uuh for the 50th time
so you're saying uuh should also get removed?
There is nothing inappropriate depicted in the emote.
idrc I have HUH
ok you know that if uuh gets removed, HUH will be next
I don't think that far ahead
when the 7TV emote "sadV" (
) got removed I felt very sad. to express it I wanted to send in Twitch chat my favorite emote "sadV", but as is was removed I was unable to do so and exploded
Catch-22
I will pass this thread to other moderators to talk about it, thanks for the input
hey! just offering some off-the-record thoughts, this is not representative of the mod team's opinions. feel free to comment about this
there are a few reasons for its removal that i can list, but the largest concerns has gotta be what the emote is intended to be used for, and how the emote is used to respond to things on the stream. i don't think it's fair to us if the argument is that sadV has no connotations, since it's based on sadE, and that is created to mean something not very good
part of the reason why it took so long to actually remove it is because we did trust that chat would use it appropriately. if we had the capacity, we'd do something about individual users performing the "i'm coming" -> sadV interaction, but that's not realistic. furthermore, it sometimes seems like the more we push back against something, the more people want to do it. so, from my pov, it's getting a little difficult to believe chat can use this appropriately. having said this, i acknowledge that there are valid uses of the emote that are innocent.
any thoughts about this? maybe we can reach some sort of compromise
it's something to figure out. like, add back the emote, but have conditions to remove it, idk
the reason why i'm participating in the discussion is to see if you guys have better ideas
I love how mods are unironically responding to a sarcastic thread
, lest u complain we don't care about u guys at all
"i'm coming" -> sadV interaction
gotta be honest i didn't even know this was a thing until this message, i never paid attention to it, only knew the emote for the "RARE" and "so sad" spam
So it doesn't look like a big deal for the uninformed and only matters for the people in on the joke? idgi
This is not sarcastic at all tho
I suggest adding sadN emote as a fair compromise
Literally everytime the word "coming" is mentioned some people spam sadV I have no idea how you missed it
The emote has become kind of a replacement for "uuh"
in a sense that the chatters just spam it if neuro/evil/vedal/anyone else says something yabai. It's a reaction like "om". I don't think anyone has any negetive intentions while pressing enter
is someone actually offended by the emote
honestly don't really care for chat's jokes, especially during streams
and even more so on a stream that Neuro can't read
uuh is not getting nuked anymore so I don't really care if the emote stays
@fallen coral could you please remove yourself from this thread if you have nothing of matter to say here? ❤️
it's fine to bring it back, if specific people act way too weird with it we just take actions against them, we gotta let chat have fun
That's rude
Thankies ❤️
I never said yes but ok
Also remember some people are clueless like me and participate in spam just because spam is happening, without knowing the first intent behind it
i see. in that case, the next time we do something against sadV, the timeout will be much more severe, is that ok?
while some people are clueless, it doesn't change what it means to reply with sadV under the scenarios I've outlined
doesn't intent matter tho or are ye just gonna start blanket nuking
the sadV situation is so sad
like nam said if individuals act way too weird with it u can take actions towards them
yeah, i'm more worried that we'll miss these chatters entirely and cause people to think it's ok to do it
Well knowing the intent now, i just still don't think it's a big deal as long as it's kept as an emote. The people that know, know, the others won't care and will just move on
is the emote that offensive?
that's rephrasing it, it's minimally weird
just feels like you want to blanket ban anyone that uses it in a mildy weird way
well, not being too weird is part of the rules
too weird and slightly weird are not the same but ok
🤔 whats "too wierd"
Where are these scanarios you outlined?
You only mentioned 1 iirc
people specifically typing "not milk sadV" "not glue sadV" etc will get the deserved timeouts, but reacting with it to what's said on stream is in offensive specially for like 80% of the viewers that doesn't even know what 7TV is
sorry, you are right, i have only mentioned 1. right from the top of my head, there's "so big" with sadV and what nam has said, yes
pretty sure more people use BillyApprove for that
bro is trying to snitch out other emotes for the prude mods to remove
I added it back, misbehave and you'll get it removed again and forever
Idk where you got that from
im just joking mostly
I don't really see people spamming sadV when big is mentioned is all I wanted to share kek
thank god it's global
that's fair, but there have been uses for it like this. regardless, it has been added back, and if we catch individuals we'll crack down harder on them. if it's a mass of individuals, then we'll do what nam said
It's really hard to follow the rule to not be "too weird" because of how vague it is. It's been a pet peeve of mine ever since i started chatting
what i think is a silly reaction is weird to others
just dont be too weird :duh:
tell that to neuro
chat isnt neuro and neuro isnt beholden to chat rules tho
ngl, that's stupid to me
the audience reflects the streamer, this is nothing unusual
anyways i hope u guys understand where we come, but i've also noted what u guys are concerned about
we are handling a chat of an AI streamer, so sometimes the enforcement can seem desynced to the chat. we have rules while she's unbounded
I understand it's not easy
i'm glad we're able to talk about it
and what about all the collab partners that obviously provoke the same sorts of topics? they are above these rules too
All I'm saying is don't act surprised when the audience behaves like the streamer, again that's just how humans audiences work
(Off-topic) 7TV emote "sadV" removal
sorggy this normally isn't an allowed thread, but i also didn't wanna 1984 this
"do it fart" -filian just now
hmm? i don't get it. r u saying we shouldn't be applying rules to chat when a collab partner says something?
Imo, the chat will reflect what the streamer or anyone on streams says, how they behave and act. When the streamer says something, of course people will think it is okay to parrot that.
But this topic is a whole other can of worms I didn't even want to open, it is way to convoluted. I am just happy that
is back.
it's another topic altogether, and i also understand that the audience is human. however, we operate like this because the streamer is an AI; this paradigm has its own pros and cons, so i understand it's quite frustrating if you're not used to it from other streamers
anyways, hope this is all for the emote
From my side, yes
ok! in the future please consider opening a #contact-mods modmail for these kinda things, it's more appropriate. #1095948590947500113 is typically for feedback to vedal and neuro
i feel like this is more appropriate for discussion though because it is community centered?
I prefer it being public
I am sorry, but this concerned way more people than just myself. I am just the messenger here (with his own opinion). We needed more input.
otherwise you've gotta relay everything from your modmail back to a group of everyone who's interested and vice-versa, and it feels like a hassle to coordinate a dialogue
yeah unfortunately #1095948590947500113 is used as a feedback forum for vedal and neuro, not for community feedback to mods like this. i think it's possible to have a modmail with multiple people, so i'll investigate how to make that possible
