This is a project to do well... Exactly what it says on the title.

The goal is to create a minecraft boss themed entirely after Neuro that the player will be able to fight and will also have custom loot associated with her. The ultimate goal is to integrate her seamlessly into the core progression of minecraft and best of all, do this all without any mods.

Wait... No mods? How?

Let me introduce you to Animated Java! A blockbench plugin that allows you to use a datapack along with a resourcepack to create "rigs" that you can animate and do all sorts of cool stuff! While yes, you do need the resourcepack, but considering there is no new entities or items it stays completely vanilla!

AJ(Animated Java) uses item displays with custom textures to animate and visualise the creators creations. The complexity level is very high and the project can go a long way before having a significant performance impact. I have made many projects and you'd be surprised with how efficient it is.

I originally started this project a few months ago where I infrequently posted upgrades on Reddit. This time however, I am planning on completely reworking the Boss AI system with a much more robust one. And now that I know that this place exists, and also with all the minecraft stuff happening this week, I decided that there is no better time to start.

Have a very barebones prototype of the new project. Instead of manually moving the rig I attached it to an invisible husk which does all the movement for me. This is kind of a proof of concept on how we can use the husk to go further.

And while I forgot I also made a system that scales the boss with difficulty but I forgor

Ok so just as a heads up I changed the version to 1.21.6 instead since I believe it has the widest coverage (1.21.6-1.21.8)

#

And also shaders work fine which is a bigger deal than it should be but here we are

I have exams for the next week or so and because of that I will be inactive for the time being. But trust me when I return it will be a banger. 💥

Can you add to her a hype train late stage move?

Like as an ultimate desperation attack?

#

Speaking of its possible that this project might derail from its original goal and actually become a mod

#

Since I have seen a lot of people still using 1.20 as a modded version and with me wanting to get into modding lately it would be pretty cool

Welp it has been a while in here but I guess it is about time that I spill the beans.

This project was all just a nasty reminder why doing stuff with datapacks is either the most fun thing in the world or the biggest pain in the rear. I know that I wanted to reviwe this project but it seems to have met the same fate.

As it turns out, implementing stuff into the vanilla progression is hard. Doing that with datapacks is even harder. So as unfortunate as it is, this project will most likely be on pause for the forseable future.

Now before you swear at me for being an incompetent person, sorry, I'm just someone doing stuff like this in his free time. It's just that I feel like even if I gave it my all a project like this would not meet the general standarts due to its datapack nature. Maybe if I learn to mod in the future I might come back.

Here is some good news: I wasn't all lazy!

I'm currently working on a new currently unrevealed project that would not only work much better with datapacks but also uses a newer minecraft version with less limitations.

Regardless, it's going good so far. I want to be excited but I don't want to jinx it again 😅 . So for good measure I ain't revealing it again until I made some amount of notable progression without everything breaking.
