TL-DR: Semi Hard Cap (2-3 weeks max) Subathon Timer.

I made this a bit ago, testing ideas for a Subathon timer, this was designed with the idea of having the Subathon end at around 2 to 3 weeks, based on sub count. It is a decently hard soft cap.

The way the soft cap was done here, is by reducing the time per sub, based on the amount of subs that have been given. So the more subs given the less effect they have.

About the sheet:
The google sheets is protected, and has some cells that can be edited, but it will be easier to just make a copy, as I had the formatting set up. The only cells that would need to be changed are total subs, and Time per sub.

More info for the timer:
Initially I decreased time every 10k subs, then every 20k subs, once 100k was hit. My guess for total sub count was around 150k-200k subs, and 200k the Subathon would last almost 3 weeks (2.88).
For reference, the way I had it, from 200k to 300k subs, the total time would go from 2.88 weeks to 3.14 weeks.

i think 200k subs is hiiiiiiighly unlikely

#

this is interesting though Hmm

I mean you say that, but so was 100k last year, and we got that in ~1 hype train

Try to use more the first subathon as a metric than the second one

#

Cause the last one needed valorant, the lava lamps were used as an excuse to increase the timer

And the wheel frustration

nice spreadsheet, but it's kinda unreliable since we don't know how much sub people would give

#

my suggestion would be just do hard cap but uncap it at the final 5 minutes of the subathon with 0.1-0.5 seconds for each new sub

#

0.1 second each sub would result in ~3 hours with 100k subs

hard caps in general are boring bc they kill the main idea of a subathon, that the viewers decide the length of a stream by supporting the streamer. I like "hard" soft cap idea tho imo its a bit too hard maybe make 200k-250k subs be 4 weeks

Is there a way to adjust the math here to make it scalable (at least to some extent) with subscription volume? That way you don't have to set arbitrary hypothetical sub goals for the timer impact to adjust

Something like "If x subs over y time are received and z total subcriptions have been met, use this rate" and scale it back or forward based off the variable x/y values while keeping it within bounds defined by the z value

#

I like the idea as a whole, I think this is the correct line of thinking for this sort of thing
