I made a scuffed Neuro-themed wordle clone! Currently it has you guess a random themed word from a list of like 25, but I'm hoping to extend the list in the future.

Yeah, it's an edited version of a different wordle clone that I rewrote in TypeScript, it still has some quirks that I have to sort out

You should try to implement a word check, otherwise it's easy to get the allowed letters by inputing random letters like said earlier.

I believe the original Wordle had 2 dictionaries, one with the words you could guess and could be selected, and another one with words that could be guessed but not selected as a word for the day.

so you would only choose words from the first list, but use both to check if the word can be typed

It's randomly picked from a list when the game starts, it's not the same word for everyone and can be played as many times as you want, so I wouldn't think it's spoiling anything?

This is working for the generation of the words, although there are probably many issues with this, such as some words possibly being far more common than others

There is now a button on the side of the screen that lets you switch between the random and daily modes. I also made it so when the daily one is completed it doesn't tell you the answer in the copy section

If you spam "enter" during the animation of the letters when you submit your line, and then start typing, it somehow submit the line even when you haven't filled the line

Yeah, your handleKey function continues registering the "enter" keystroke and allows to call the commitRow infinitely during the animation since the commitRow function is non-blocking when the input is valid (setTimeout will call the function to update the state object asynchronously, so in the mean time, you can still spam "enter" and thus cumulate the commitRow calls). I guess you can use the state object to synchronize and disable temporarily the handleKey execution until the animation finishes (or if the input is invalid).

Yeah, I'll have to try and figure it out because as I said further up, this is just a modified typescript rewrite of someone else's wordle clone, so I still need to figure out the finer details of how it works, as I am by no means an expert.

Just checked my shitty Amazon Fire 7 and it looks fine on Android. So I assume that the styling issues are Webkit-specific, and I don't have a Mac. So, to try and push off the painful process of re-deploying the site every time I make a change to see if the change fixed it, for now just don't use Safari 👍

I'll probably bite the bullet and get it done at some point, but today is not that day.

I got it running on webkit using playwright, and it seems that really the only problems are the size of the icons, and the font not working

One fucking line fixed it. I just need to fix the fonts now

I feel the daily Neurdle is stuck on the same word everyday.

Also a minor issue, when the word is too long, the result doesn't fit the popup (it should be on the same line for the squares)
