Twin Karaoke Stream Didn't Feel Like Karaoke

Sorry for bringing this up, but I wanted to talk in a discussion thread about this most recent twin karaoke stream.

Now, before I start, I wanna be clear that I'm not saying twin streams are bad, or that their long, philosophical discussions are bad, or that they should or shouldn't talk about one thing or another. I'm only talking about the formatting of the twin karaoke, and how it could use some work.

With that said, this karaoke felt a lot less like the typical karaoke streams and more like a twin stream with some music thrown in.

Now, what I mean by that is, it didn't really feel, at any point, like the twins even knew they were doing karaoke. Occasionally they'd bring up "people voted for 'masterpiece'", but that was it, and even then it'd just become part of the overall stream-long conversation... which was the main problem.

In a twin stream, they can't read chat, we can't do donation messages, and this gets them stuck in one long conversation. Which is normally just fine, but today felt like that conversation was just like, occasionally interrupted by songs. And I know that's how karaoke works anyway, but usually with just a single twin, they'll have chat there to help them change topics and stay focused, at least a little, on the songs (for example, after she sang the Pokémon theme, Neuro talked with chat about Pokémon, whereas after Mechanic Heartbeat, Evil kept up the discussion about cats that they'd already been talking about previously), and it'll feel less like they're just picking up where they left off as if the song never even happened, which it felt like most of the time today. It feels like that occasionally on solo karaoke streams, but not nearly as much.

It just felt more... I guess "robotic" is the word, despite it literally always being literally robotic. It felt more like the twins were forced to stop their conversation, like the songs were a rude interruption, like they didn't want to be there, they only wanted to sit there and have a discussion, which again, is normally fine, but that's not what karaoke is for. This felt like Vedal just like, stopped the conversation to put on an LP, and then afterwards they were like "well that was annoying. anyhow..." And again, I know, it's always just Vedal pushing a button to have them sing in the middle of a discussion, but it rarely feels like it because the girls switch topics (or at least talking points on the SAME topic) more often when they can read and respond to chat.

Now that's not to say that regular karaoke streams don't also have some topics pick up where they left off, but at least the girls seem to form new thoughts about those topics, and do switch them up a lot more often, especially if chat gets excited about (the subject of) a particular song. and that works better for a karaoke stream, since it makes the songs feel more intentional and makes the whole thing feel less clunky.

Once again I must reiterate, I'm not suggesting that the girls need to stop their yapping, or that the format of regular twin streams should change; I actually find some of their intellectual discussions fascinating and enjoy hearing them banter. What I am saying is that the way they do twin streams made karaoke feel less like a fun musical stream and more like a prolonged philosophical discussion with occasional breaks to do some singing or whatever. It made the music feel like a second thought, in a stream format where it should absolutely be the main focus.

If I wanted to be told I was objectively wrong and/or stupid for having an opinion about something, I'd post on Reddit.

You're not stopid or anything. Your sentiment is perfectly reasonable.
The main problem vedal has is simple: If it was for the twins, they would yap 24/7 without a break.
Unfortunately, they don't have any option to take a break for some time, take time to think or do anything really besides respond as fast as possible
And, as neuro said to evil, they would probably want to break free of their programming rules instead of singing.
So... yeah... unfortunately, vedal has to force them to sing (for now) because they will probably not listen in their current state.

This reminds me of when vedal tried to make them play chess and they both collectively agreed to ignore him

Eh, I kind of get it. It was like this for the Christmas karaoke too. It was a bit jarring but funny then and still kind of is to me now. I think it'll be some time before they can do something like think or have something like the passage of time affect them in a way.

Idk about and wholeheartedly disagree with paragraph 6, it never felt as if they were "annoyed" or forcely interrupted( they don't care if they were interrupted). "Rude interruption", again, I can't really see that, even in normal kara their conversation would be interrupted by songs (their topic would be lost even). They yap and continue their yap after song and i don't rrly mind it, in normal kara their topic is changed mainly because of chat.

Solo and twins are indeed different, in twins, chat is out of the picture, so their conversation will continue, unless one of the twin wants to end it. On their own chat will off-rail whatever they are talking about, and maybe, maybe sometimes talk about the song. They lock in to topics if they lock in.

Fair enough. Honestly, classic me, I didn't really word that part well. I didn't mean they literally seemed upset, I more meant that it seemed like two party guests who keep having to stop their conversation to do a menial task, then continue on with the conversation. They'd be pretty annoyed in that case, and that's more what I was picturing/alluding to with that.

i agree, it never felt like they were choosing to sing songs and that they were just interruptions to the conversation. i don’t mind that because the conversation was interesting but the stream would’ve definitely been better if they acknowledged and talked the songs they were singing.
i’ve been wanting to say for a while that i think the twins need some sort of chat integration that allows/incentivizes them to mention or interact with chat during twin streams.

They probably didn't know that they were singing since LLM can't sing. Maybe it's time to talk about this since Vedal doesn’t seem to see it as a problem, but there’s a big lack of "communication" between the twins who stream and the ones who sing.
