#Feedback regarding the "chat spam issue"

I watch Neuro for maybe around one year, and I do enjoy the spam waves and participate if something hype is happening, however understand how saturating and disturbing it can be.
Like those numerous occasions when you ask a genuine question to get some opinions from chat, Neuro/Evil says something remotely funny and chat is getting overwhelmed, its even a bit frustrating to watch. For the same reason I personally don't comment much in the twitch chat.

To the point:

  • I think proposed solutions like slowmode defeat the purpose and fun of the fast going chat and I agree with the arguments that it is part of the brand.
  • The ranking system is also something that should be avoided, hopefully it was a joke. It doesn't help the issue of some genuine comments being missed, won't make me even start commenting to get some social credits.

I think the obvious solution would be to have some AI based filter to extract comments with any kind of information into a separate chat that would be available for you and for Neuro/Evil with different priority and use cases.
So you can have the spam part of chat that can be used to get the general mood/opinion, and the second chat if you need to ask for advice/opinion.

If anyone else has their own view - go ahead.

make a chat spam scraper. Jive programming explanation:
scrap each message if the same message is posted in a 5 second threshold it starts a timer once you reach a count of 10 without it timing out you enable combo mode.
That message gets filtered from chat on screen and added to the combo meter
the user who spams gets their username next to the combo meter

I’ve seen this idea or something similar implemented on other streams and I kinda like it but it doesn’t seem to fix wall spam whatsoever which is the biggest thing that people have a problem with. Might also incentivize just spamming emotes to get as high as a combo as possible. Pros and cons.

Anyhow, that combo counter should be way smaller and less intrusive. Usernames should appear underneath the counter one at a time as the counter goes up imo. Also, the counter shouldn’t go up if the same guy already contributed to the combo previously.

Tbh u should probably just make ur own discussion post with this suggestion lol

I mentioned this on Reddit but also want to add it here.

A possible solution is have a "no chat spam" times. These shouldn't be for every stream at specific times. It should be on special occasions only.

Vedal could give chat a five minute warning and display a message while he doesn't want chat spam. Those who break the rule only get a timeout as to not upset them too much.

I have only been part of the community for a short time, so I might be missing some critical information that makes this method pointless. Just wanted to add my idea as a potential solution.

The size of the combo counter is irrelevant because it's a concept it's something I threw together in Gimp in 2 minutes I wasn't looking for a final product so scaling and opacity and font and art elements are all place holders.
I have seen it implemented too just the combo. but i have seen not filter out the spam from the chat In a separate window or have the spammers name when they add to the combo.

In regards to the no chat spam times there could also chat spam times where people are told to spam a certain thing in the chat. People love raids so this could also get it out of their system.

#

Or if the exact same message is spammed over and over again people get an super tiny time out, like five seconds tops.

#

This auto-time out could also be only applied only during spam limited moments.

#

Ooohhhh I just realized by having spam limited moments it will encourage large spam at certain moments its rough. And sometimes people just want to lol to feel involved and express themselves.

#

Limited spam moments have to be rare or else people will spam as much as they can when they can.

Don't fix what aint broke

#

If you can reach record breaking highs with chat as it is I can't imagine its putting many new viewers off

#

Focusing moderation on curbing spam instead of toxic behaviour is more likely to do that, frankly fossabots "light" anti spam measures of late have been pretty detrimental and annoying to the chat experience already

it would be great if people listened to the twins when they ask them to stop spamming

As an AI the twins can read every single message(and if spam overload does cause problems Tutle can program them to ignore those) so chat spam only effects the experience of the human observers.

I agree.
