#Are shorts hurting long-form content?

There isn’t much crossover between shorts watchers and long form viewers, and YouTube likes pushing shorts more which lowers the viewership of long form content from what I’ve noticed
i see, so the neurosama channel gets (effectively/de facto) allocated, say, 10 recommendation spots
and by having shorts, neurosama uses up all those spots on shorts, not its long-form videos
Yeah that’s why some YouTubers have separate channels to post shorts so it doesn’t interfere with long form content performance
That wont hurt long form content
What deos tho is clip farming
And attention span shortening
Like look at a lot of vtubers, theyll do stuff thats obviously just farming clip nbecause thats by far the best way for discoverability
Or a mr beast video, there arent anh calm quiet moments anymore its just constant adhd content
(Adhd content is what id call something likea filian stream or mr beast video where theres a lot of stuff haooening and its all quite fast)
Yeah that’s why shorts works better for them cuz they make their content super hyper, which reflects their actual content, Neuro’s content is slower paced
Forgot to mention most of the content has vedal in it when he only shows up like twice a week
if you look at the slay the princess video and the videos posted after the shorts did decently in the algorithm you can see a sizeable difference
I would like to point out if it werent for the short I dont think the channel would still have some life in it, if one the approaches is to be chosen it will be the shorts since they are most likely to bring people into the stream
there is a reason why we didnt get the part 2 of the StP
I feel like shorts aren’t really reflective of most of the content, that being neuro on her own, most of the shorts are with vedal and he shows up like twice a week so it’s kind of misleading and I think people who check out the stream will be disappointed
next the person that vedal might be getting inspiration from is filian
I’ve seen a lot of “where’s vedal” in the twitch chat
and her content is a mix of highlights and shorts and they still keep coexisting
I guess I can see where this is coming from.
Personally, looking back on the way I've use YouTube, I have channels that I've subscribe to purely for the shorts while others I subscribe purely for their videos. Rarely or never have I subscribed to a channel for both forms of content.
As for a solution, I don't know. I'd be fine if it was focused more on shorts, but iirc shorts don't produce any money.
shorts are truly a advertising tool
it is more common to read the "shorts brought me here" in this new chatters wave
they don’t but ultimately vedal isn’t earning money from either
In hindsight he could’ve posted shorts on a separate channel I think some ccs do this but it is what it is
if the point of his youtube channel was to make money (directly) it would be better to just dual stream on it
If they bring separate audiences doesn't seem like an issue tbh, i agree that the shorts are a bit too vedal centered though but i think that has more to do with the fact that chill streams haven't been really clip worthy recently
Shorts viewers have shorter attention spans and Neuro’s regular streams are more slower paced which conflicts with the nature of each other it worked for filian cuz her content is super hyper all the time as for the second point it’s mostly cuz the only thing clippable in chill streams were the rants which I think she doesn’t do as much anymore
Maybe it's just my experience but i consume all three forms of content (videos, shorts and streams) and usually it helps if the shorts are related to the long form content, in fact there is a feature in yt shorts that allows you to link a long video related to the short
