Recently, neurotic-neurons discovered a video where someone created an AI to play pokemon, and they made the code available to the public, can Vedal check out the code and, hopefully, modify it to make Neuro play Pokémon? It's one of the games that I was really hoping Neuro would play.

Gen 1 2 and 3 control the same way so other than some prompts to learn the clock and phone it should work, this code is mostly just random inputs

understandable, we are talking about nintendo after all, but as long as you own the game, emulators and roms are allowed on twitch. Otherwise there would be a lot of games that wouldn't be streamable at all

Im not worried about game itself but AI. Nintendo will take any excuse even if they're ones in the wrong. Just like when new zelda released, they forgot that timezones exist and started striking people left and right for streaming early.

i don't think nintendo cares about an AI that plays pokemon as long it's not in a official competitive tournament or online pvp, but i dont know i didn't read their user agreements, but i doubt they care

What I mean is It uses visual input so technically its okay. But nintendo can just take a gamble and strike it as being a cracked game or a mod.

An emulator would be interesting since neuro would have to use somewhat of a game controller, idk how twitch plays Pokémon worked, there was also that one guy who made his fish play Pokémon with an emulator

Also showdown supports Pokémon’s competitive scene since you can test teams before building them in game, getting rid of showdown would hurt them too since it’s pretty tedious to build teams in mainline Pokémon

He could always get permission from the Pokémon company, like how riot was asked if neuro can play valorant

The issue isnt permission to play it, with Valorant its an online game which has to be fair to other human players, the issue is that for Neuro to play it, the rom has to be extracted from a game cart onto a PC and emulated there
And Bintendo hates the idea of losing 3 dollars because a 25 year old game was pirated in 2023
For it to be legal Vedal would have to record the process of dumping the rom from a physical cartridge

From what i understand Nintendo thinks that doing these things that hurt the community is to protect the brand image, something traditionally and recognizably Nintendo
So people changing or altering the original game is harshly frowned upon as changing the essence of the Nintendo formula
The piracy thing isnt enforced as much, its more the modding and hacking they hate
