#Something needs to change with the split audio channels. Parts of VODs get completely ruined.

I keep noticing this and it's honestly ruining the VOD experience. I understand the purpose is so copyrighted music can be played on stream and not the VOD, but the issue is that certain moments on stream get played on the other audio channel, so it doesn't appear on the VOD.

For example, the recent dev stream, I can only assume Vedal was showcasing more of the Neuro v2 voice, but it's completely muted in the VOD, so all there is to go off of is the chat's reaction.

Another example is the truck driving stream. The entirety of the game audio as far as I'm aware is completely muted in the vod, replaced with copyright-free music. This took away moments like the in-game radio giving a shoutout to Vedal. The only reason I knew this happened is because unofficial clip channels caught it live. But a ton of moments like these get lost to time because nobody clipped it live.

I'm not sure what the solution would be, but I'm just a bit tired of watching streams and being excited to watch the entire vod later to see parts I missed, just to come back and have a considerably hindered experience. I'm just not entirely sure if it's a fair compromise, especially when certain streams are being done at 4 AM in EST.

No hate, just a bit of criticism + suggestions Tutel 👍 catEat

not even hard to do, multiple audio channels for a recording... just set the audio output correctly

As I imagine, it's just an issue of channel assignment. The output has to go to the channel that's both in the VOD and live, instead of the "music channel". He probably just forgot to set it up in that moment. But I agree it's sad that the bits he played are not in the VOD - I would have liked to hear those since I also missed the stream.

I've no idea what's up with the voice clip, but for the truck driving stream, it was entirely intentional and I've already suggested a solution (play TruckersFM through their website and mute that in vod instead of the game). It wouldnt help with the shoutout, but would keep the modded in neuro sounds and game audio.

You can't reasonably expect a streamer that's already driving, chatting, and dealing with neuro, all while imbibing, to manually micromanage audio at every song break just in case there's a "moment" that might be good for the vod. So nothing is really going to help with the TruckersFM situation, not until we can autodetect copyrighted music in real time and selectively mute that source, or perhaps TruckersFM supplies multitrack streams (which is not part of the Shoutcast tech these stations are based on, AFAIK). Without those solutions, the only alternative is to mute all of their station, or none of it.

And in the latter case - if vedal doesnt mute those songs for the vod - then either Twitch itself does, automatically turning long random stretches of the vod into a totally silent film (which is a lot less fun than what you got), or else he risks copyright strikes ... potentially not even strikes right away, but lying in wait to happen later.

Yeah you can set things up a bit better but with TFM there's not much to do, in the moment Vedal didn't know it was an actual online radio either, you'd get back the mod sounds as you mentioned but TFM has to be filtered out one way or another

I agree this is better than a muted stream. For the radio I don't see that going into the VOD either.

It's just the tech demos he did in yesterday's stream that would have been possible to reassign so they also go into the VOD (and the game ETS game audio minus the radio).

Another solution is for Vedal to catch up with vods because he does local recordings and watch it on YouTube but for that he gotta catch up and keep up with it

vedal can get around twitch auto mute by posting the full local recording he made to youtube (when he doesnt run out of drive space mid stream), but um... youtube copyright system is a lot more broken
