I'm taking a swing at one of the new Lorwyn commanders, and have landed on Tam, Mindful First-Year.

Basically, I'm trying to make it a 'color matters' deck, in that I gain advantages and have the potential to make creative plays by manipulating the colors of permanents (and possibly spells, but probably not so much). I don't want my commander to be a lynch pin, just an effective enhancement to my game plan.

I'm sitting at 79 cards, and wanting to keep it under $100 total. Decently Bracket 2 with room to evolve.

I think it's going to be pretty janky, so I'd like to have a decent top end of potentially game-winning creatures, but it would be cool to have some cohesive sub-theme living in there too, if at all possible.

Once I know what the curve/color balance is then I'll figure out the basic ramp package/mana base.

What am I missing? What jank can you suggest?

So, you picked a very weird commander.. I commend you! In my mind it’s a colors matters deck that has these weird jank cards that interact with colored permanents only. I don’t have a link but there’s a video with Crim. The Asian avenger playing an I hate the color green deck could be good to watch.

I'll go look for that.

protection for commander would be good since she doesnt have hexproof

#

and the cooliest piece is probably the all colour but

[[fallaji wayfarer]]

Creature — Human Scout
Fallaji Wayfarer is all colors. This ability doesn't affect its color identity. (It can be in any deck whose commander's color identity includes green.)
Multicolored spells you cast have convoke. (Your creatures can help cast those spells. Each creature you tap while casting a multicolored spell pays for mana1 or one mana of a color that creature is.)

i brought one just before lorywn came out

#

and i think multi colour spell (assume hybird mana is still illegal and you dont want the rule 0 conversation) still gives lot of fun options in simic

#

with sunbird standard it give wubrg but is very janky synergy in that case

#

you can try aura or whatever crazy niche thing you are more interesting in

#

since hexproof means your creatures got the extra counter against spot removal but they are all small creatures with base stats

#

half of what you are playing is basically [[slippy boger]]

No card found for “slippy boger”

one version is cheap

#

for some of the janks i think it is worth using [[solve the equation]]

[[archmage of runes]] to make the big spells more playable

emeritus to keep up the card advantage and not have to top deck

#

with all the tap abilities in the deck, can also add untapper to reuse more of them and flexibility

#

some sarecrow has interesting abilities that care about having specify coloured permanents

#

but scarecrow are the worst tribal in the game

#

island walk for damage etc

#

or more basic equipment unblockable but i dont recommend more colourless

my personal favourite simic is clone/ mutate or both combine
