Hi! New guy here. Just got into Commander about 2 months ago and I’m kind kf struggling on how to pump my deck’s power level. This was originally a Syr Armont the Redeemer deck but I changed it to a Sythis. I’m trying to make it at least a Bracket 4 deck but I’m not really sure what kind of adjustments to do. What do you think I should do? Here’s the decklist: https://archidekt.com/decks/13261663/sythis_harvests_hand

Every opinion is welcome!

Sythis, Harvest's Hand - Commander deck

How does this win? 🤨 I see Siona by Faith, but I don't see anything else.

What I have in mind is pumping every creature I have like Nyxborn Behemoth with Helm of the Gods and All That Glitters and putting me in a position where every swing has trample. I’m also considering outting Heliod + Walking Balista but I don’t know what to cut!

I don't know, it just seems sub-par. And I see some confusing bits here and there. Like the deck seems like it wants to play as many cards as possible as quickly as possible - but you play Rule of Law?

#

I would expect something like Heliod Ballista combo.

#

I mean no offense - but this deck is in a strange place. I think it'd be good if you can find some other bracket 4 lists with Sythis and draw some inspiration from them.

Totally and no offense taken! I’m here to take criticism about my deck building. I guess Rule of Law is like a switch for me to try and catch up to when I’m falling behind? (Blame it on my trauma of being mana fucked lol!)

And yeah, Heliod Balista combo is something I’m looking at too. Would it be safe to assume that having 2 different win cons is a good idea?

You probably want a tiny handful. 2-3 different ways of winning and preferrably a couple of ways to get to those. Definitely get 3 ways to close the game, if your deck isn't particularly good at beatdown.

Oh and I currently have zero clue as to why there is a Crop Rotation in your deck, since you play neither Gaea's Cradle of Serra's Sanctum. Maybe there's a plan to add those? They're quite expensive.

I thought it was a good way to get extra land as seeing its cheap but I am now made aware that its not as good of I’m not running either of those two. Learning things along the way!

Oh! Crop Rotation doesn't give you an extra land. It trades one land for another. If you don't have a land that's better than the last, you're paying 1 mana to put two cards into your graveyard and shuffle your library. That's not very good.

I did a small update to the decklist. Do you mind taking a look if this is a step to the right direction?

I cut out Crop Rotation and Graceful Takedown and some other things and included Heliod Ballista as well as Gauntlet’s of Light for a combo with Sanctum Weaver for an infinite mana loop.

Psst! You added the wrong Heliod 😅 You want the Sun-Crowned one.

Oh! My bad! Let me change that out! That said, the rest of the switches are good for now?

#

You think that would make this at least a high bracket 3? 😅

You're working towards something. I'd recommend seeing if you can swap some of your sorcery ramp for enchantment ramp like [[Overgrowth]] and [[Utopia Sprawl]] and maybe throw [[Arbor Elf]] into the mix (seeing that it can untap the enchanted lands for big gains)

I am considering Utopia but let me take a look at what I can do for the other two.

If you take out the Seedborn Muse you're down to 3 game changers and you'll have a solid deck for Bracket 3 if you ask me. If you're playing in 3s, I'd let people know about Siona by Faith in the rule zero conversation, just so they don't get upset if you go infinite earlier than most B3 decks are used to. It is a 2-card combo after all.

How about a low to mid 4? If I stay with this and try to add in Birds of Paradise?

#

Also, what do you think about my land/mana situation here? I feel like I’m not running enough but also running too much, if that makes sense?

I’m also looking at dual lands if that will improve my deck’s power.

#

By the way, thank you so much for the insight and help. This means a lot for a newbie like me.

I think that a newbie starting in bracket 4 instead of 2 or 3 is ambitious. Give it a whirl, see if it fits your expectations. I generally like lower power better myself and I've played for 12 years. But to each their own.
