I’ve got a pretty shell for an isshin list. I’ve recently returned to magic after somewhat of a hiatus and have made some tweaks to my deck, but can’t seem to find the best cards to cut now that I’ve made my tweaks. I’m looking for feedback on what I should cut in the list and am open to any feedback or general criticisms about the deck itself or how it’s assembled. I’ve got the list here, and would greatly appreciate any feedback. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ELCtLAtfI0yVQnPkOh9kFA

Maybe add some token doublers since that seems to be a main theme.

IMO, I don’t like Boomer Scrapper that much, Craig Boone seems to be a little slow to create value, not sure if you need Enlightened Tutor, it’s good of course, Signal pest seems whatever to me tbh.

Another spot to consider cuts is maybe some of your artifacts. I know the talismans are good and help you get things out faster, but you do already have the signets too. Maybe Fellwar stone as a cut target too

#

Controversial, but maybe consider cutting Smothering Tithe, it’s great, but doesn’t really have anything to do with the deck imo

I’ll probably trim down on two of the rocks as I do see your point with being a bit ramp heavy

#

The doublers have been weighing on my mind I just admit. Would you recommend just Mondrak and procession, or do you think I should go for the new ojer as well? He seems kinda pricy at 6 mana in all honesty

#

If I may ask, what do you dislike about scrapper and Boone?

The way I saw them, scrapper was basically a Laelia without haste, and Boone deals 6 damage the first combat he’s triggered, and 14 the next, all the time gaining me that much life.

#

I do appreciate the suggestions as well very much

As for Scrapper, I’m just not personally a fan of things costing you life every time you attack, and with Isshin that’s 2 life per attack, 4 on turns if you trigger one of your extra combats. I just think it adds up after a while

Procession might be better because it’s likely people run less things that can target enchantments than creatures right?

Out of all of them I’d definitely lean towards procession, though I do like the indestructible from Mondrak at times.

That’s valid

I love how sticky enchantments can be

I mean, you could run both if you wanted

If I can find the space I might slot in Mondrak at the end

My only hesitance about cutting the scrapper is worry I’d be going too low on card draw. By my count I have about 12 pieces of it total in the deck (counting stuff like horn of the mark and such) and really do value being able to refill my hand in this deck, considering it does play heavy to the board

#

I do see the point of it costing the life as being a real detriment though

#

Do you think I’d still have enough draw even if I cut the scrapper?

I always appreciate opinions! It’ll definitely be one on my short list, worst case scenario I can trim some stuff and see if I’m really feeling I’m missing something. I managed to get the deck much closer to completion thanks to you as well, so thank you very much!
