#Deck Brewing General

And land tax isn't just for "ramp" per say, It guarantees I never miss a land drop. It also removes 3 cards from my deck that I can no longer draw. IE, deck thinning.
Upgraded my rats list and need to make 5 cuts, the only thing I wont cut are my rat colony's, everything else is fair game, the goal of this is the same as any other [[ashcoat of the shadowswarm]] deck which is to get a bunch of [[rat colony]] and swing at face for exubrent amounts of damage
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/bm_wqEj6ikC8CxIKYMBAdA
Legendary Creature — Rat Warlock
Whenever Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm attacks or blocks, other Rats you control get +X/+X until end of turn, where X is the number of Rats you control.
At the beginning of your end step, you may mill four cards. If you do, return up to two Rat creature cards from your graveyard to your hand. (To mill a card, put the top card of your library into your graveyard.)
3/4
Do u guys think [[minds dilation]] is worth it in an [[imoti]] deck?
Legendary Creature — Naga Druid
Cascade (When you cast this spell, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card that costs less. You may cast it without paying its mana cost. Put the exiled cards on the bottom of your library in a random order.)
Spells you cast with mana value 6 or greater have cascade.
3/1
It just occurred to me if in a pinch my board is expendable and wilhelt will atleast give me other zombies for my non token zombies dying which starts the mass saccing and untap blasting station to do again
Oh scratch that just anything zombie without decayed text
Even better
🤣
What should I change? Add more counterspells? More mana rocks? Lemme know pls 🙏
That all depends on how strong you want this to be. He is CEDH viable
I'd recommend cutting some of the non-artifact spells for artifacts that can sacrifice themselves for value. Even something as simple as a commander's sphere can be fantastic as +1 card per turn if you've got nothing else going on and is generally useful on its own anyways.
Which of my non-artifact spells were you thinking I should remove? I definitely get what you’re saying. It would synergize better with her ability.
I'm happy to help, but can you make a unique post for this and tag me in it? I'm always worried about losing track of a convo in this massive thread.
So trying to goldfish a precon upgrade. The problem I'm running into is the commander is [[Abbadon the Despoiler]]. Anyone got suggestions for simulating what X would be? Since it's total life between my last turn and this turn, I'm not sure what the best way to simulate life loss would be since there'd be 3 more people swinging
Or wait is it strictly checking just on life lost between Main Phase 1 and main phase 2? Cause even then any suggestions? Like assume they never block?
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/fOCVNqUickebUnPON6WM8g any thoughts?
Anyone wanna take a look at my upgraded caesar deck?
I'd be taking heavy inspiration from Rakdos lord of riots if I where you
They want to do basically the same thing
also Rakdos should defo be in the 99
If I'm doing Belakor then I put all 3 Rakdos in the 99
Use pingers,
[[Spear Spewer]]
[[Creeping Bloodsucker]]
[[ Thermo-Alchemist]]
[[Storm Fist Crusader]]
[[Unruly Catapult]]
Yo can anybody finish my Lands Matter with +1/+1 counters deck?
I have no idea how to progress further so if somebody would finish/improve it i would be glad. Thanks.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/x50VsanDXE-PGBNu2krFzQ
@wraith onyx have you considered playing the legendary removing clones and spells to make heck loads of beau's? big cow tribal?
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/7SM96EtJOEatTWVtCe847g just want people’s opinions on my card choices
fun idea honestly, ill think about it :D. thanks for the reccomendation :).
Has anyone broken [[rakdos joins up]] yet
Legendary Enchantment
When Rakdos Joins Up enters the battlefield, return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield with two additional +1/+1 counters on it.
Whenever a legendary creature you control dies, Rakdos Joins Up deals damage equal to that creature's power to target opponent.
what deck you think will be better? [[Pantlaza, sun favored]] or [[Huatli, Poet of Unity]] ?
Legendary Creature — Dinosaur
Whenever Pantlaza, Sun-Favored or another Dinosaur enters the battlefield under your control, you may discover X, where X is that creature's toughness. Do this only once each turn. (Exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card with that mana value or less. Cast it without paying its mana cost or put it into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom in a random order.)
4/4
Legendary Creature — Human Warrior Bard
When Huatli, Poet of Unity enters the battlefield, search your library for a basic land card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle.

: Exile Huatli, then return her to the battlefield transformed under her owner's control. Activate only as a sorcery.
2/3
Roar of the Fifth People
Enchantment — Saga
(As this Saga enters and after your draw step, add a lore counter. Sacrifice after IV.)
I — Create two 3/3 green Dinosaur creature tokens.
II — Roar of the Fifth People gains "Creatures you control have '
: Add
,
, or
.'"
III — Search your library for a Dinosaur card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle.
IV — Dinosaurs you control gain double strike and trample until end of turn.
Both are good, played against huatli yesterday. Got crushed. They interchangeable for the most part so try both
Would someone mind taking a peek at my upgraded caesar deck?
Sure
Im looking for cards that return stuff to the top of my opponents decks for my eveyln deck any suggestions? I have memory lapse anchor to the aether and ether well and teferis timeless voyager but i want to hit things other then creatures
Looking to do some heavy duty trimming on some cacti today with some very spicy upgrades.
Upgraded the desert bloom precon and it is a doozy of self mill, mass land sacrifice and my favourite, hermit druid to get a plethora of lands into the graveyard really quickly and then swing out with run down effects like [[Rumbleweed]] [[Full Steam Ahead]] and [[Return of the Wildspeaker]]
Any recommendations for cuts are more than welcome https://www.moxfield.com/decks/UzU9I5AlaUecVRDf2pAeAQ
I’m going for a treasure theme with an equipment/voltron subtheme to power up my creatures. Do I need more artifacts?
I need a somewhat powerful/useful cat for my rat deck for the memes
Mono black rat deck, gimmick is just pull out rats, make em big
Meme cat is the murders at karlov manner that is the morph creature
[[Forum Familar]]
For the memes you can play it as a disguised creature but if no mana fixing you cant flip it up
feel free everyone to try and make my day and help me with my Clav build, i rly cant get it to work smoothly...
Here's my caesar upgrade. I'd love to hear some C&C, there also gonna be a breath of fury in there eventually
The only thing that hasn't been upgraded is the mana base for the most part.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/CuZW83Cj-km-eiZhYiZkYg need help with cuts
what do you think i have to cut
Do I need more equipment in here? Main plan is to suit Roxanne up, as well as my other creatures, and swing out for meteorites and treasures.
My version of the new gitrog. Deck is degenerate.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/L1MM0Xu2r02wXRX34TZ3Cg need help tuning my deck
If you want some truly huge creatures include ones that have power toughness equal to the number of lands you control
And landfall: put a +1+1 counter on something is quite powerful as well
Overall i love your choices of cards [[Nissa, of shadowed boughs]] is my favorite planeswalker
Legendary Planeswalker — Nissa
Landfall — Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, put a loyalty counter on Nissa of Shadowed Boughs.
+1: Untap target land you control. You may have it become a 3/3 Elemental creature with haste and menace until end of turn. It's still a land.
−5: You may put a creature card with mana value less than or equal to the number of lands you control onto the battlefield from your hand or graveyard with two +1/+1 counters on it.
Loyalty: 4
Yes but the cost of those is much higher than the average 2-4. You need to get gitrog out and saddled as fast as possible while everyone is ramping and spending all their mana. Once they are online gitrog is killed on sight or he doesn't connect saddled
That is very true but they can be really good for late game or could power down your deck if needed
Just an idea
I agree, I have play tested with some already. I found more often than not, I drew them early game and I really needed a 2-3 cost to still be able to save for something to protect them while swinging
That’s reasonable
And I just now saw you have things like [[Greensleeves, marrow sorcerer]] and [[ulvenwald hydra]]
So you already have some
Yep, can't omit these crazy cards in a landfall deck 😀
Let me take a peek. I never built/played henzie so I may not be too helpful.
You just cheat out creatures and sack em
Hiii
Can y’all help me build a deck ???
I’m trying to build a kraken, leviathan, octopus and serpent deck, green blue and I need card recommendations
Any recommendations for a green blue kraken deck
What should I remove to add more equipment? Maybe I have too many creatures, but a lot of them make treasures or benefit from it.
[[Brinelin, the moon kraken]] [[gilanra, caller of wirewood]]
Legendary Creature — Merfolk Noble
Vigilance, ward
Whenever you cast a Kraken, Leviathan, Octopus, or Serpent spell from your hand, look at the top X cards of your library, where X is that spell's mana value. You may cast a spell with mana value less than X from among them without paying its mana cost. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
4/5
Legendary Creature — Merfolk Cleric
If you would scry a number of cards, scry that many cards plus one instead.

: Look at the top card of your library. If it's a Kraken, Leviathan, Octopus, or Serpent creature card, you may put it onto the battlefield. If you don't put the card onto the battlefield, you may put it on the bottom of your library.
1/3
@grim bramble any of these three would be great options
If you want recommendations go on edhrec search sea creature and click simic after that you can click a commander and it shows you all the best synergy cards
Anyone have a deck list for [[the ancient one]]
I need to replace 8 cards from this precon with 8 cards under $5, any suggestions?
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/wpucJrNlHUSL8zosshILkQ
I purposely played a slow hand in my sovereign okinec ahau deck against this. It obliterated the table. Can't imagine what a tuned one would do.
But [[return the favor]] for something
This is my upgraded caesar deck, it's only missing breath of fury. I'd love some c&c
There is a card that replaced wear+tear
From new set it's mono white and combined basri solidarity into it as a spree card
should i build [[breeches the blastmaker]], [[vihaan gold]], [[loot, the key]], or [[felix five boots]]
Legendary Creature — Goblin Pirate
Menace
Whenever you cast your second spell each turn, you may sacrifice an artifact. If you do, flip a coin. When you win the flip, copy that spell. You may choose new targets for the copy. When you lose the flip, Breeches, the Blastmaker deals damage equal to that spell's mana value to any target.
3/3
Legendary Creature — Dwarf Warlock
Other outlaws you control have vigilance and haste. (Assassins, Mercenaries, Pirates, Rogues, and Warlocks are outlaws.)
At the beginning of combat on your turn, you may have Treasures you control become 3/3 Construct Assassin artifact creatures in addition to their other types until end of turn.
3/3
Felix is going to be used as an assassin commander when assassins creed drops
Is my guess
True
I hope we get some great mardu assassin stuff because I'd love to put it in my [[vihaan]] deck
3/3
I'd love to get some c&c on this deck. All he's missing is breath of fury and probably a better manabase.
Is there a land in red that could combo with survey the wreckage? Any suggestions?
Any good ideas to run [[flamewar]] ? I been sitting on him, the 1 transformer I wanted to pull but never figured out what to build
Legendary Artifact Creature — Robot
More Than Meets the Eye
(You may cast this card converted for
.)
Sacrifice another artifact: Put a +1/+1 counter on Flamewar and convert it. Activate only as a sorcery.
, Discard your hand: Put all exiled cards you own with intel counters on them into your hand.
3/2
Flamewar, Streetwise Operative
Legendary Artifact — Vehicle
Living metal (As long as it's your turn, this Vehicle is also a creature.)
Menace, deathtouch
Whenever Flamewar deals combat damage to a player, exile that many cards from the top of your library face down. Put an intel counter on each of them. Convert Flamewar.
2/1
Any suggestions for my kiora sovereign of the deep deck ?
Just finished upgradeing my old gnawbone deck with stuff from the outlaws prerelease and need to make a few cuts, any ideas? https://www.moxfield.com/decks/c1xa2e6ekEO99no9RJ9AAA
This.. is a different build than I’m used to. More control and pillowfort-y rather than aggro. Let me know what I should change. I’m using a lot of cards from Deep Clue Sea to make this more synergistic.
Somebody please make me a mana base for this pauper deck i beg i cant even make mana bases
And if needed, make the list function better (4C Phyrexians)
What can I take out from my deck (https://archidekt.com/decks/6046942/upgraded_paradox_power) to make room for these cards from OTJ and other sets? suggestions are welcome: [[bonehoard dracosaur]], [[doc aurlock]], [[fblthp, lost on the range]], [[rashmi, eternities crafter]], [[make your own luck]], [[wild wasteland]]
Sorcery
Look at the top three cards of your library. You may exile a nonland card from among them. If you do, it becomes plotted. Put the rest into your hand. (You may cast it as a sorcery on a later turn without paying its mana cost.)
"Aim alone won't win you a duel if you can't keep your nerve." —Annie Flash
Sooo i'm missing a lot of the y'know ping and do damage to enemy or a few ETB creatures, but i think this deck is okay so far, ive had a few wins in it and really enjoying it!
But that being sad i'm looking for some help o nchanges to land base and maybe swapping some enchantments, anyone wanna take a look? 😄
It's an upgrade Caesar precon
I'd love to hear some c&c
Still looking for suggestions!
I'd definitely add breath of fury, it goes infinite with caesar. And even if you don't decide to go infinite with it it is super good for the deck. I've got one on the way for my caesar deck rn. I'd remove voters dilemma for it.
I'd definitely replace middle school with stolen strategy aswell. The potential card advantage of stolen strategy is fantastic
Sick! I will absolutely do that, thank you so much. I didn't realize how good stolen strategy could be
this deck just runs so many enchantments, least mine does, and its nuts
Of course! I wish I had more suggestions. But personally I like thalisse more than bitterblossom, and I focused super hard on creatures in my build of caesar.
I'm kind of a mix on it, I run so many enchantments in this current build to like playtest them and see how they feel, then remove / add / swap after a few games
I just built a uh Phyrexian Orzhov deck with Brimaz as the commander and i'm excited to try it out
It's like just an upgraded precon like Caesar, but it seems like it'll be real fun
Of course! I wish I had more suggestions. But personally I like thalisse more than bitterblossom, and I focused super hard on creatures in my build of caesar.
ok so a couple things about this deck
i would cut green, 4c doesnt really work that well
not enough card draw to add lotus petal
i would try the jumpstart lands and maybe even the pay lands [[archway commons]] if you insist on 4c
Hey, I'd love to hear some c&c about this upgrade. I put a lot of time(and money lol) into it (I haven't deckbuilt in a long while, haven't played since before covid so it might be a bit jank, but caesar is quickly becoming a pet deck for me)
what are Jumpstart lands?
the ones like [[thriving bluff]] that tap for a color or a different color that you chose upon etb
ah, gotcha. Which color combo should I go for then? if 4C wont cut it
Naya? or Mardu?
personally i like golgari toxic
but
pauper doenst have the uncommons so golgari toxic isnt good
red has like no toxic
so maybe bant
give me a bit
im going to some charity thing with my family
ill try to put together a list
Dont hurry man, im not forcing you into anything
i like brewing
me too, but as visible i aint good at it
are you looking to play this in paper?
Any commanders that make too many tokens?
Thinking of doing a token deck next, gotta get ideas
kind of yeah
Rhys the Redeemed
I played him/Played against him
He can get out of hand VERY fast
Can I post here asking for help with cuts in a Nekusar deck, instead of making a whole thread? Thanks!
I’m at 100, but the 6 cards in my sideboard where in the 99, and I really like them.
I would dump laboratory maniac
It seems your goal is to mill/deal damage at the same time
And not mill yourself
So that's an easy trade out
Id put dockside in instead
Def want more acceleration. Dockside over dark ritual?
Depends on what you want to do
Do you want your commander early? Dark ritual
Later game huge mana boost
Dockside
My thoughts on that is
You don't have to swing with your commander
He just needs to be out
So you can ignore summoning sickness
Peer into the abyss
For sure
In that deck
With dockside late game
Draw half your deck if sheoldred is out gain a ton of life and qin
Win
Or
Ah ya u would just win with that combo
Assuming you have enough in your deck
[[peer into the abys]]
Dump waste not for it
Imo
All your wheels are red and or soccery
So the black mana does nothing most of the time
And fizzles after the turn passes
I guess you get 2/2s as chump blockers
Midnight clock can be good but it can also cause you to loose
As you don't have much control over it
Oil has 0 place in that deck
It's purely a like card
Ah I figured with all the wheels oil could end the game in 1-2 turns. Probably win more.
As far as Waste Not, the card draw is the main goal of that, with the 2/2’s being a nice bonus.
Heey. Could someone sanity check this build? I think it would work pretty well (not high power, but for a "mid-power casual" pod).
But I might be completely off, and it's just a steaming trash pile.
[[Yargle and Multani]] voltron, with some backup burn combos.
https://discord.com/channels/574711449566445603/1231254735219200041
Maybe the oil is worth it, 3 card combo win the game
Maybe minds a glow in there
heyyyyy
does anybody wanna look at my Jirina aristocrats deck and tell me what needs cutting
i'm very attached to all of my cards
Anybody know good cars to add and what cards to take out of commodore guff precon
What do yall think of [[forge boss]] in edh?
Personally I thinks it’s a nice aristocratic but I wouldnt have it as my commander because of the once per turn limitation
Plenty of other good blood artist effects that have fewer limitations, even if they have lower damage
I think if it didn't cost 4 mana, it'd be aight, if rather limiting
it's still 8 damage per turn rotation, which isn't bad, and it interacts with damage doublers, which most other aristocrat effects do not.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/sE5r-a333UKj1nDF_mANXg
Just done a thing, Looking to make a few cuts, it's the new [[gitrog, ravenous]], the gameplan is get one of the sac fodder out like [[Daemogoth Titan]] or [[Hunted Horror]] and then gitrog, draw a bunch and accelerate with the amount of lands they put in.
Any recommendations for cuts would be greatly appreciated
Legendary Creature — Frog Horror Mount
Trample, haste
Whenever The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride deals combat damage to a player, you may sacrifice a creature that saddled it this turn. If you do, draw X cards, then put up to X land cards from your hand onto the battlefield tapped, where X is the sacrificed creature's power.
Saddle 1
6/5
Has anyone here made sea creatures tribal?
Yeah you've got [[runo stormkirk]] or [[kiora Sovereign of the deeps]]
No card found for “runo stormkirk”
Legendary Creature — Merfolk Noble
Vigilance, ward
Whenever you cast a Kraken, Leviathan, Octopus, or Serpent spell from your hand, look at the top X cards of your library, where X is that spell's mana value. You may cast a spell with mana value less than X from among them without paying its mana cost. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
4/5
[[Runo stromkirk]]
Legendary Creature — Vampire Cleric
Flying
When Runo Stromkirk enters the battlefield, put up to one target creature card from your graveyard on top of your library.
At the beginning of your upkeep, look at the top card of your library. You may reveal that card. If a creature card with mana value 6 or greater is revealed this way, transform Runo Stromkirk.
1/4
Krothuss, Lord of the Deep
Legendary Creature — Kraken Horror
Flying
Whenever Krothuss, Lord of the Deep attacks, create a tapped and attacking token that's a copy of another target attacking creature. If that creature is a Kraken, Leviathan, Octopus, or Serpent, create two of those tokens instead.
3/5
They're the creature type commanders for sea monsters generally
There isn't like, a fish or crab commander that cares about the lil guys
There's also kenessos which seems kinda fun and was mostly wondering if people tried him or Kiora and how it was to play the deck
Ah I've only seen kiora played, but she's a monster that pumps out even bigger monsters
is there a card that lets you put all creatures from your hand onto the battlefield
Legendary Creature — Phyrexian Praetor
Ward
Whenever you cast a noncreature spell with mana value 3 or greater, draw a card.

: Exile Jin-Gitaxias, then return it to the battlefield transformed under its owner's control. Activate only as a sorcery and only if you have seven or more cards in hand.
5/5
The Great Synthesis
Enchantment — Saga
(As this Saga enters and after your draw step, add a lore counter.)
I — Draw cards equal to the number of cards in your hand. You have no maximum hand size for as long as you control The Great Synthesis.
II — Return all non-Phyrexian creatures to their owners' hands.
III — You may cast any number of spells from your hand without paying their mana costs. Exile The Great Synthesis, then return it to the battlefield (front face up).
It takes setup, but still
Currently unsure what to do with the Blame Game precon. Reassembled it back to its out of the box state, unsure if I want to keep the goad mechanic (use baeloth/noble heritage) or change it to some other commander
putting gitaxias in dragon tribal seems odd lmao, id probably just run omniscience at that point
Looking for some advice regarding this commander. Anything I should take out? Add?
Needing major help on cuts on my cat tribal/selesnya equipment deck - https://www.moxfield.com/decks/8T3e28Vby02Y4jfbc74C-w
Oh, that was for Dragon tribal? lol
I use him in my Tom Bombadil deck
New ghalta does exactly that
It's 8 mana tho
Yes
I need that Ghalta for my dino deck
Ive had someone cyclonic rift before when I had him in hand and a good size board. The rift won me the game
lol
I have that one card where you pay 1G and X to pull a green creature from your library and summon it
Pretty late in the game so I wasnt surprised to see it cast
I play that then and dump my hand? ouch
Savage order is better
I don;t have that
[[savage order]]
So I could sac one of my weaker dinos, then dump my hand
Yup
and trigger Pantlaza off of it
Many times
Pantlaza is once per turn
And pantlaza sets up savage order really well
[[Pantlaza]]
Legendary Creature — Dinosaur
Whenever Pantlaza, Sun-Favored or another Dinosaur enters the battlefield under your control, you may discover X, where X is that creature's toughness. Do this only once each turn. (Exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card with that mana value or less. Cast it without paying its mana cost or put it into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom in a random order.)
4/4
Savage order isn't too expensive
cuz people don;t target it immediately
The ramp is unmatched
I need Savage Order, Vaultborn Tyrant and Ghalta
I need pantlaza lol
I got it from the dino precon
Ya I should have bought that precon, mine is completely from pulls
Friends gave me a few pieces
I wonder if you LGS has a copy of Pantlaza
oh dope, thx. ive got some single target creature cheat and reanimation that can trigger ghalta, so ill see how they work
Takes me 4.5 hrs
That's about where I'm at
Anyone have a [[general Kudro]] list I can look at
What fo you think of this deck? What thing to cut do you see?https://www.moxfield.com/decks/RjQRc6R_70OjzAdO8rfR0g
looks like a fairly standard henzie list.
One card I can recommend is [[evolutionary leap]]. just sac your blitzed creatures into it after swinging and replace them with more gas for next turn while also drawing.
Building mono red hard
Help pls
What's the deck's goal? Ramp and burn?
I think you lack any sort of draw
Ah nvm there's a little
Pure violence hopefully. Ramp into big dragons and keep swinging
The reaver cleaver?
Get 1 decent dragon out, invest some treasures into it and then you just pop and they die
[[the reaver cleaver]]
[[great train heist]]
Instant
Spree (Choose one or more additional costs.)

— Untap all creatures you control. If it's your combat phase, there is an additional combat phase after this phase.
— Creatures you control get +1/+0 and gain first strike until end of turn.
— Choose target opponent. Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to that player this turn, create a tapped Treasure token.
Ancient copper dragon too
Hi everyone 🤗
I have just created my ever first CommanderDeck🤭 I would love for you all to go in and check it out! It is in the forum section aswell ❤️ I have no idea of what power level it is 🙈 would love it to be able to match up against both higher and lower decks 🤷🏼🤗
Just finished my final list for obeka, any thoughts on it?
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/0Ubx3EXaiEm2HRkfBofKHg
Any thoughts on running both Skrelv's Hive and Bitterblossom in an Orzhov aristocrats deck? Is it too much redundancy, and would one or the other be sufficient?
Any thoughts on what is the best super friends pairing to wren in super friends deck
Really depends on how many touting/ sac outlets you run but generally having a residency in you sac resources is great in aristocrats and let's you really accelerate your gameplan
I would even look for a 3rd or 4th copy of this effect just to have a consistency of it of for a 100 cards deck if it's commander for 60 cards formats 8 copies of the effect is enough
Makes sense. I feel like I have a decent balance, but need more testing.
Hey I'm building my first commander deck, alot of it is just cards from my collection. Would anyone be able to take a look at the deck list and let me know what they think?
Ngl this is to all over the place let's begin with tiny bones he is a great card In the 99 but for a mono color black commander there are way better options depending on what you are trying to make this deck has a lot of mechanics like discard forced sac mill and self mill but nothing to tie it all up together and no rely good outlet or payoff to any of those and no reall game ender I would try for a first commander deck stick to one theme like discard and then look at the Internet what are the best colors for discard what cards I want to build around and search the right commander or the other way around find a commander that has such a unique and broken ability you can build around it
When building commander there are 2 ways find a theme and a good 99/98 foe it and find the best commander for the theme / colors or just good value commander or commanders that have such wild abilities you build the 99 around them or something in the middle where the commander is a great outlet payoff but the deck can exist even with him having high commander tax and not playing him
anyone able to enhance this deck but keep it on topic? Its defender beatdown :D. (the deck is for modern. yes i know its bad, but its funny)
Ngl go bant with the new thick booty crock that makes defenders draw like hell
Pride of Hull Clade?
Also green has a bunch of make defenders be able to attack and assign combat dmg defense
Yea
doesnt sound like a bad idea honestly, but i cant build 3C decks yet
they just end up like a mash... :').
Gotcha it's just that defenders theme really want assault formation and has another way to let defenders attack
It really boosts consistency to have 8 of this effect instead of just 4
Also don't forget it gives you access to arcades Wich is the most insane defenders card
It gives you draw when playing defenders let you assign combat dmg from thougness and let all defenders block
oh arcades is modern legal?
super intresting
yeah uh, im gonna have REAL trouble unless you hand hold me through this (if you want to lol)
Yea its modern legal
Well just grab prid hulk arcades high alert and assault formation and fill the rest with defenders with very high thoughness 0 attack that are in bant and are cheap / good etb and that's basically all maybe splash in a counter spell or 2 If you feel cheeky
And just start testing see if you need maybe toughness pump spells draw counters removal ramp this 3 colors have it all just get a basic list and start Improving
gotcha, ill see what i can come up with
ill share the list in a moment
so how should the landbase look like?
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/9Y95_rppuUKJ0CGYs0nFmA
Looking to make a midrangy pl7-8 friends forever sans green list anybody fimilliar with this kind of decks could give his inputs on my list
Sorry not the most fimilliar with the ratios of shock basics fetch lands triomes you want in this kind of modern decks
im not familiar with mana bases in general ;-;
does the rest of the deck look alr tho?
actually let me add some ramp
Instead of snakeskin veil I would take the untap spell form lotr it has split second so it cannot be responded to
And for the mana base since your curve is topped at around 4 mana I would go for 18 lands with 5 fetch lands 8 shock lands of this colors 1 troime and 4 basics should be a good enough base you can always add or cut lands
Maybe even 20 lands add 1 more shock and 1 more fetch lands fetches are good to have in 3 color decks to help fix your mana easily
Also this guide can help you
alright i think this looks good
what do you think?
I would had 2 more lands since 16 is to low for you to have a consistent curve to play a 4 drop on 4
And instead of the ramp spells I would go wall of roots since it firs your theme and can be used both has a dork and has a part of the gameplan
And it's not a tapped ability so it can be used the turn it is summoned and it's stats are really really good for you gameplan
Oooo yeah not a bad idea!
Also would think about maybe Sylvan carytid since it's a defender that can mana fix for you
And since its modern I would go with preordain instead of consider since how it works is that it gives you bigger selection of cards to draw from since you look at 2 then decide if scry or not so really you look at 3 cards
I mean 3 different draw options that you know 2 off and can order them
Just don't forget that fetch lands make it so you will shuffle so don't fetch before you draw something you scried to draw next turn
Looks nice I would just side board some counter and removal speels and anti combo cards like pithing middle and this seems working againsf some very very casual modern decks
Tbh modern atm is kind of bonkers
Isnt modern always bonkers?
Yea but now it is even more beacause outlaws just made temur prowess and mono affinity blue Into this extremely bonkers decks
Like Gaak Summer, 'Razi Winter and right now it would seem that the best deck is a tie between Domain and Rakdos Scam
But high mono blue affinity is a top meta deck in modern for only 400 dollars that's cool
That's pre otj
Oh for gods sake
Whats the best right now???
Zoo mono blue affinity temur prowess and the regulars of yagmawth and amulet
The hell is Zoo??
Domain people call it also zoo
It's a term for a decks running mainly good stats creatures
But mono blue affinity is kind of nuts when it goes off simulacrum synthisiser is a nuts card
Almost made legacy affinity make a comeback
Has anyone made an [[aeve ooze]] storm slime against humanity deck?
Wait why would you even need slime againsr humanity when the commander himself is the outlet also slime against humanity doesn't really has a lot of synergy with the commander
But if you want I made a slime against humanity ripple deck
Ripple with slime let's you cast like 20 slimes against humanity in a turn
Ok so I have 2 builds for my Mothman deck the first build is https://archidekt.com/decks/7390570/wingatron and playing it I really didn’t do much both times I tried to pull out Mothman I was shut down by Counterspell and Chupacabra, the second build is https://archidekt.com/decks/7460160/wingatron_5000 I really just don’t know what I’m doing with this guy it seemed like 1/1 Counters was the way to go but I sat there with my hands in my pocket all Friday Night, tomorrow is Commander night again and I’d really love to play this deck but don’t know what to do… I should note the people at my LGs are probably playing at higher power decks anywhere from 8-9 power levels
The Wise Mothman - Commander / EDH deck
(1) Commander • (7) Creature • (3) Drain • (7) Draw • (1) Evasion • (1) Finisher • (2) Instant • (36) Land • (10) Mill • (1) Proliferate • (1) Protection • (11) Ramp • (4) Recursion • (12) Removal • (1) Sorcery • (1) Stax • (1) Theft
Can you help me understand what the pl of my etali list is I tried to keep it around 7 because I think full blown cedh etali lists are not fun to play around and it's a cool deck to play In casual level I wanted to know if I pump in some worldly tutors and clounstone curio/food chain combos will it stay at 7 or keep it as Is to make it a 7
Anyone have good suggestions for a fun mono green commander?
[[bristly bill]]
Eh kinda don't want to do another +1 counters
Eh, maybe. My current mono green deck is the melding Titania which does have land theme but maybe something not that lol
He is a op dude in my current one
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/RPuoqyT9T0etvR7BG-UCrw
Okay this deck was actually really fun to build once I went in on artifacts rather than creatures.
I swear the number of "sacrifice to do X" has tripled since Brother's war somehow, or at least interesting cards.
Now that I've built my grixis deck, my last step is to look at lands.
I have 39 black pips, and 37 black producers.
I have 15 basic land swamps, I have 0 basic lands mountains or islands.
All my red and blue producers comes from dual lands (check lands, slow lands, shock lands, bond lands, etc).
Should I cut down on Izzit dual lands and introduce more basic swamp lands? 39 consumers vs 37 producers aren't that bad, or is it? Anyway, the distribution is quite skewed for red and blue 😄
I have 5 izzit dual lands
It's really hard to answer this conceptually. The most complete answer would need to account for which color pips occur at which mana values and which of your nonbasics enter tapped vs untapped etc. There's just too many variables. Instead, I'd recommend playtesting the list for the first 5-6 turns a dozen or so times and see how often the list stumbles on mana.
Yeah, I'll do that, thanks 😄
So my friend wants to build their first commander, and I'm looking for suggestions?
They're into the weird creepy horror stuff. Defiler of Flesh is smth they pointed out they liked as an art piece.
They don't like getting milled so they want smth they can utilise their graveyard with just in case it happens.
Maybe at most a two color deck if that helps. Thanks!
[[captain n’gathrod]]
Legendary Creature — Horror Pirate
Horrors you control have menace.
Whenever a Horror you control deals combat damage to a player, that player mills that many cards.
At the beginning of your end step, choose target artifact or creature card in an opponent's graveyard that was put there from their library this turn. Put it onto the battlefield under your control.
3/6
oh it only reanimates other people stuff
maybe [[anjie falkenrath]] with a reanimator package
[[wilhelt, the rotcleaver]]
Legendary Creature — Zombie Warrior
Whenever another Zombie you control dies, if it didn't have decayed, create a 2/2 black Zombie creature token with decayed. (It can't block. When it attacks, sacrifice it at end of combat.)
At the beginning of your end step, you may sacrifice a Zombie. If you do, draw a card.
3/3
oooh maybe [[muldrotha the gravetide]]
Legendary Creature — Human Shaman
Whenever another creature you control dies, you get an experience counter.
At the beginning of your end step, choose target creature card in your graveyard. If that card's mana value is less than or equal to the number of experience counters you have, return it to the battlefield. Otherwise, put it into your hand.

@proud smelt
Thanks!! I think Meren would be fun
Feels like i lack in removals, and a bit "punching power", I do win games tho...but it goes slow and it's pretty much with 1-2 dmg when something dies... but I can withstand alot and recover both in health and cards, both in hand and on the board.
Any suggestions that could improve my overall state? ❤️🤗
Does anyone have any [[Juri, Master of the Revue]] decks to share? I'm brewing on one and would like some inspiration 🙂
I cobbled this together real quick if anyone wants to take a look. Thought combining treasure tokens with a sub theme of +1 counters would work well together. Any advice appreciated
Here's mine. Fairly treasure focused, https://archidekt.com/decks/2079931/juri
trying to build an Izzet Synthesizer deck for modern, just because. But im a bit at a loss for payoffs/game enders. Any reccomendations?

I kinda wanna build a [[kemba, kha regent]] deck with the theme of Kemba building up an army over time while making deals to keep enemies off her borders. Would [[Orzhov advokist]] [[nils discipline]] and [[noble heritage]] be a good start to that theme?
Legendary Creature — Human Cleric
At the beginning of your end step, for each player, put a +1/+1 counter on up to one target creature that player controls.
Each creature with one or more counters on it can't attack you or planeswalkers you control unless its controller pays
, where X is the number of counters on that creature.
2/2
Legendary Enchantment — Background
Commander creatures you own have "When this creature enters the battlefield and at the beginning of your upkeep, each player may put two +1/+1 counters on a creature they control. For each opponent who does, you gain protection from that player until your next turn." (You can't be targeted, dealt damage, or enchanted by anything controlled by that player.)
Why is making decks so hard
I wanna make a mono green deck. But like I want a lot of creatures but there are so many good non creature spells. :(
Maybe make two decks?
That's so trueeeee
Make a deck with omnath in the lead 😍
As my commander
So, which cards should I put in my Dogmeat Voltron deck?
I'm modifying the precon
[[Sigardas aid]]
[[Colossus hammer]]
Only do the hammer if you can make the equip cost 0
Or like 1
There are a few ways to
[[Sram, Senior Edificer]] and [[danitha capasben, paragon]]
Can anyone remake this deck?
The goal is to cast creatures with prototype for their alternate cost, and then flicket them so they have their larger stats but for cheaper
[[forge anew]]
Enchantment
When Forge Anew enters the battlefield, return target Equipment card from your graveyard to the battlefield.
As long as it's your turn, you may activate equip abilities any time you could cast an instant.
You may pay
rather than pay the equip cost of the first equip ability you activate during each of your turns.
Hello, i need help with upgrading this deck https://www.moxfield.com/decks/24-g_KZaIkqy88TZ_jidzw
I'm brewing up a Temur deck that Polymorphs tokens. What giant creatures in Temur that would be create to cheat into play (no cast triggers)
I’m struggling to make a balanced deck to play with my pod. Pls let me know if this seems alright
I have a lot of high mana cards in here and it has me worried, but I think my mana situation is set.
id think removing two creatures for lands is probably worth it
combat calligrapher kinda jumps out as a bit off theme and i feel like victory's envoy is just too slow
Removed Victory’s Envoy for [[unbounded potential]] and Combat Calligrapher for a Plains. I think this seems more balanced.
Thank you for the rec
Hey guys, just threw this list together super quickly, would love some thoughts or suggestions
A deck created using the deck building website, Moxfield.
How many cards that allow you to draw cards are a good rule of thumb?
Like should I have 5 cards that allow me to draw cards or is that too low?
I'm running a mono green deck and there are quite a bit of ways to draw cards with mono green but I wasn't sure how many to run
Yes.
It's impossible to answer that question generally as different decks can afford more or less card draw. You can build your deck to have zero card draw and instead ensure every single card is powerful enough on its own that you only need to play one card per turn to feel relevant. Or you can build your deck to be chock full of small spells so you can chain together 3,4,5+ spells a turn and thus need a massive draw engine to support that.
Mono-G has draw support in a variety of ways. You could build an enchantress list to take advantage of those powerful engines but this requires a hefty portion of the deck be enchantments. You could utilize the "draw based on large power" cards but these are vulnerable to interaction and there aren't that many of them. You could use tribal draw effects. The list goes on and on.
The better thing to do is to playtest the deck. You can theory craft all day long but it becomes rapidly apparent what does and doesn't work about a list the moment you try playing it. I always recommend folks use the playtest feature of whatever deck building app they prefer to solo play the first ~6 turns a dozen times to get a sense of how often they're running out of cards early or how often they're getting mana screwed.
Playtesting is the best educator.
Tank u
Idk if you use archidekt or moxfield, but I'd recommend moxfield's playtest tool as the better option as it has hotkeys which allow you to do your playtesting really quickly. I usually playtest 6 turns in about 60sec
Yea I'll for sure try that out. Thank you
[[similacrum synthesizer]]
What on earth is sun titan doing in there
Also terror is cute but not good i think 5 mana is too much for this deck
what could i play as a commander based around politics?
Does this seem like it’ll perform well?
Critique my dihada
Maybe trade out disenchant for [[requisition raid]]
This card replaced wear and tear and disenchant unless you want to run both
Or you prefer instant removal
I have [[Charismatic Conqueror]] in my aristocrats deck (as a leftover from the Blood Rites precon). Mainly for the token production. I'm wondering, since I'm not going for a combat strategy, how useful is it to tap your opponents creatures that way?
I mean, I'm not really going to capitalize on them not being able to block for a turn, since I'm probably not attacking very often.
Creature — Vampire Soldier
Vigilance
Whenever an artifact or creature enters the battlefield untapped and under an opponent's control, they may tap that permanent. If they don't, you create a 1/1 white Vampire creature token with lifelink.
"There's a whole world under the surface, waiting for the light of our salvation."
2/2
Maybe useful to slow down mana rocks though.
Did I put enough crimes and/or criminals in here
Honestly it’s good to limit peoples options if they do decide to tap their stuff in response to his trigger. If they tap one of their creatures, that’s one less blocker they can use.
Most casual pods imo will just let you have your token unless they know what your deck is capable of.
I'm just giving them the 1/1 in most circumstances
If you have a sac outlet already then probably not. I'll just make it a table problem rather than just mine
I kinda want to make a memey [[Brion Stoutarm]] deck
But I also want to make a [[Bonny Pall]] deck
Legendary Creature — Giant Scout
Reach
When Bonny Pall, Clearcutter enters the battlefield, create Beau, a legendary blue Ox creature token with "This creature's power and toughness are each equal to the number of lands you control."
Whenever you attack, draw a card, then you may put a land card from your hand or graveyard onto the battlefield.
6/5
I'm putting final touches on an [[orvar, the all-form]] deck. should i add some more instants and sorceries that target? also need 5 cuts and possibly more cuts if adding more stuff: https://archidekt.com/decks/7577089/another_one
Legendary Creature — Shapeshifter
Changeling
Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, if it targets one or more other permanents you control, create a token that's a copy of one of those permanents.
When a spell or ability an opponent controls causes you to discard this card, create a token that's a copy of target permanent.
3/3
Used to have an [[ivy gleeful spellthief]] deck which was mostly draft chaff that I ended up decontructing a while ago and just found [[The Howling Abomination]] and immediately built a loose build around him with bunch of cantrips that target and fling type effects, now I need to cut ten cards and potentially add a few. Any and all help would be appreciated.

So is [[the raven man]] cool or what
Any decklists y’all have?
Any and all suggestions are welcome. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/SB4bgd8x80e4DgZFcZHkCw
I pulled [[Vraska, the Silencer]]. It looks like it could be a fun commander, but what the heck is the game plan? Has anyone had any luck with it as a commander?
Legendary Creature — Gorgon Assassin
Deathtouch
Whenever a nontoken creature an opponent controls dies, you may pay
. If you do, return that card to the battlefield tapped under your control. It's a Treasure artifact with "
, Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color," and it loses all other card types.
3/3
He's cool but I prefer him in tinybones as a member of the 99 tbh
Play removal
like, you can more or less make the gameplan whatever you want, but you will likely be wanting to play some kind of golgari control shell, maing sure you keep your opponent's board clear while you turn their stuff into treasures fro you. You could lean into artifact synergies and play things like [[Marionette master]] etc. or you could just use the treasures as ramp for your own threats.
Creature — Human Artificer
Fabricate 3 (When this creature enters the battlefield, put three +1/+1 counters on it or create three 1/1 colorless Servo artifact creature tokens.)
Whenever an artifact you control is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, target opponent loses life equal to Marionette Master's power.
1/3
"Golgari control shell"? Removal and card draw/discard from black, combat tricks and ramp from green? Ish. I know there's more, but just the broad strokes?
(edh) Trying to make cuts to some newer decks then find in univers art to fit the themes
Would love some advice if anyone's willing
This one needs about 30 out to fit more land
https://www.archidekt.com/decks/7718195/radiation_king_
This one's 12 over but also needs some basics still
Hhh • (Commander / EDH deck) • Archidekt
Commander / EDH deck
(8) Counters • (1) Drain • (6) Draw • (29) Land • (25) Mill • (12) Proliferate • (2) Protection • (10) Ramp • (16) Recursion • (11) Removal • (1) Theft • (1) Tokens
Anyone know of good viking themed cards I can slap into here? https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Z5CEFSnNgUyd7n1Omnz4Mw
Alright
Celestine 2.0 but over human kindred
My plan is to get Celestine out asap and swing with her every turn I can, making sure she at least connects to keep my graveyard from filling up.
[[!selfless savior]] and/or [[!selfless spirit]] might be neat for some indestructible recursion
Oh good looking out 🙏
I also need to add [[bastion protector]] just to protect Celestine more
great add
and of course can never go wrong with the sad robot [[!solemn simulacrum]] if you can recur him too
though you do already have similar stuff like knight of the white orchid and loyal warhound
Yeah those are great potential additions. I hate how mana hungry mono white can be!
I need to make 5 cuts but also open to suggestions for the deck. I am taking the Desert Bloom precon and making a Rule 0 commander. I am keeping the self mill aspect while adding Black and having a side focus on tokens as the main deck did. I tried to cut cards that have better versions of them with the extra color.
(All cards in the side board are cards I still need to pick up for the deck)

How does one build a Lantern Control deck?
Rhystic Studies got me wanting to play another wacky deck
..again
Wife picked out Pheldagrif from the card store this weekend because it "looked funny". Now I want to make a commander deck for it. What direction should I go, combo with suture priest or mill? Which do people find more fun
Any recommendations or suggested edits would be great! Trying to find tune before purchasing the cards
https://archidekt.com/decks/7694821/choo_choo_chulane
Ehh....
As far as squirrel commanders go, theer's really only [[chatterfang]], but more often than not, he's played as just a token/aristocrat commander and not a straight up "squirrel" commander.
As far as tribal synergies go, they're mediocre. There just aren't enough straight up "squirrel tribal" pieces for edh imo, just stuff that happens to make squirrel tokens.
That being said, Bloomburrow looks like it will bring in more squrirel support, so maybe this will change soon.
Legendary Creature — Squirrel Warrior
Forestwalk (This creature can't be blocked as long as defending player controls a Forest.)
If one or more tokens would be created under your control, those tokens plus that many 1/1 green Squirrel creature tokens are created instead.
, Sacrifice X Squirrels: Target creature gets +X/-X until end of turn.
3/3
I'm already planning to buy the squirrel deck
I wonder if Chatterfang will get a reprint or retool in the set
depends on how you aim to do mill. Phelddagrif's draw ability is a may, so you can't force people to draw out off of it, where as the hippo tokens are mandatory.
If you play with the same people you can do acornelia, shes not legal technically but maro made the un-commanders with casual edh in mind. there's really only golgari squirrels and the options are limited
[[Pheldagrif]]
Does anyone have advice regarding [[Feather, the redeemed]]? first deck that I am building that isn't super obvious to me how it works (like krenko or marrow gnawer
So every set there's a few cards that just pump one creature and provide card advantage while they're at it, like [[expedite]] and [[defiant strike]], miku feather brings those back to hand so you get to potentially draw up to 4 per turn cycle just off these cantrips that normally wouldn't be played in edh
Ah, pump spells
You draw enough pump spells to kill someone with feathers Stat line on its own usually but there's things like monastery mentor that make you bodies
Extreme budget Voltron
I was in betweeen blink and pump
Haven't seen a blink deck
Might give that a shot
Since everyone and their mom does pump
Myself included
Although I've been playing this feather deck for all of 2 weeks
My playgroup has lots of blink decks but no pumps
Ah well give it a shot it's the cheapest deck you'll make not in pauper
I also can’t wait to make the dead miku deck
Pump spells r so cheap on god
[[Miku lost but singing]]
Dead miku?
Her kimono is backwards
Oh interesting
Signifying that she’s deceased lmao
Azusa is absurdly strong, miku might be dead but your game plan never will be
Idk who else spotted it
what commanders in izzet (or any color combo including izzet colors) can fetch enchantments? I want to build a deck that combos [[hive mind]] with [[pact of the titan]]
Not a commander but [[ethereal usher]] tutors hive mind
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/77b-t-QYaU-NRALMnmcO8g
I'm pretty happy with how this goes, are there any cards like sanguine bond or Vito that allow me to really dig in for damage upon lifegain? Those are the only two I can think of.
I keep on changing deck and I can't seem to choose just one deck, I want to but even after one game I change the deck. Is this normal or do I need to be more patient.
It's a shalai and hallar deck

Going back to my typal roots with [[kylar, sigardian emissary]], not much to say about it, play humans, win.
Need to make quite a few cuts though and am stuck in analysis paralysis, any and all help would be appreciated, the only card that I do want to keep in though is [[the wandering emperor]]
Legendary Planeswalker
Flash
As long as The Wandering Emperor entered the battlefield this turn, you may activate her loyalty abilities any time you could cast an instant.
+1: Put a +1/+1 counter on up to one target creature. It gains first strike until end of turn.
−1: Create a 2/2 white Samurai creature token with vigilance.
−2: Exile target tapped creature. You gain 2 life.
Loyalty: 3
Hey folks. Wondering if anyone has any other suggestions to add to the list I’m building. Trying to document different archetypes linked to my favorite style: CHAOS! I’m not just talking about what I could say is True Chaos (Warpworld, etc) - but things like group hug I would consider to be Chaos cause it injects a chaotic element to games. Same with mechanics like voting, theft decks (cause it depends on your opponents decks not your own)…
True Chaos
Coin Flip
Group Slug
Group Hug
Theft
Cascade
Voting
Dice Roll
Polymorph
At Random (Zurzoth, Ruhan, etc)
Donations
Any others?
This isn’t unusual. Sometimes patience is good, let’s you really experience a deck. But sometimes the changes are what is fun!
Think it be a good idea to buy the new energy mh3 precon deck and smash it together with the science! Fallout commander deck? The commander be Liberty Prime
If you play an eldrazi deck in commander and you do not run [[diamond city]] you're throwing
Land
Diamond City enters the battlefield with a shield counter on it. (If it would be dealt damage or destroyed, remove a shield counter from it instead.)
: Add
.
: Move a shield counter from Diamond City onto target creature. Activate only if two or more creatures entered the battlefield under your control this turn.
In casual edh, would yall agree that its generally better to use rampant growth effects for extra land drops than it is to have mana dorks that can tap for more varied kinds of colored mana?
depends on the card imo
i prefer llanowar elves in edh over rampant groves because you can play it one turn earlier
but if you have a 2 mana dork, then rampant growth is better
Anyone know a good way to win with [[Omarthis]] ? Wanting that to be my colorless deck but not sure how to win with it/the end goal of the deck
Legendary Creature — Spirit Naga
Omarthis, Ghostfire Initiate enters the battlefield with X +1/+1 counters on it.
Whenever you put one or more +1/+1 counters on another colorless creature, you may put a +1/+1 counter on Omarthis.
When Omarthis dies, manifest a number of cards from the top of your library equal to the number of counters on it.

I've never seen anyone do anything with this thing it feels so weird and off kilter for a commander
I guess it works with new ulamog
I really want to make a [[Jin-Gitaxias]] deck
Legendary Creature — Phyrexian Praetor
Ward
Whenever you cast a noncreature spell with mana value 3 or greater, draw a card.

: Exile Jin-Gitaxias, then return it to the battlefield transformed under its owner's control. Activate only as a sorcery and only if you have seven or more cards in hand.

After playing Minsc and Boo "Bite" deck on brawl I saw that it works reeeally well, but would it work in commander aswell? Im afraid it might be slow 4v4 , the themes of the deck are Bite+Riot and +1+1 counters incidently...thoughts ?
idk, hard to say without a deck list. it sounds doable for regular commander though, fight decks aren't out of this world
but fight is one thing bite is another, fight has payoffs like brash taunter and that green legendary with a gruul ability that draws you a card when you fight, but bite...not so much, and that means ill either have to play with mostly beefy creatures (increase ramp etc) or deathtouch
I was looking for payoffs like pandemonium or cards that deal damage to player when you deal damage to creatures that player controlls, stuff like that
the riot and +1+1counters is easier to build but since now there are enough playable bite cards I thought maybe I could use that as a subtheme, fight is a bigger subtheme because it has more payoffs i think
The payoff for bite is that you remove someone else's creature. i don't think you need specific payoffs for removal to be good
if you really want to play into that specific type of removal, maybe you could look into things thatsynergize with noncombat damage
yes for 1v1 thats great, in oathbreaker and brawl Minsc and Boo with a bitee theme is brutal, but against 3 more oponents is harder, lose 1 card per creature (some give 2 for 1 but still) and one opponent loses 1 creature but then Im out 1 card opponent A is out 1 creature and B and C get ahead
I'm trying to find a good deck list for this guy that won't break the bank
what kinds of strategies do you guys employ when you need to cut cards from a list? im making a [[Nadu, Winged Wisdom]] pseudo landfall list and need to cut like 7 cards and it's killing me.
Legendary Creature — Bird Wizard
Flying
Creatures you control have "Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability, reveal the top card of your library. If it's a land card, put it onto the battlefield. Otherwise, put it into your hand. This ability triggers only twice each turn."
3/4
[[Leyline of Anticipation]]
This would be great in Jin
I just posted my deck list
I usually go "it needs s set up" like, a card that is good but only under the right cirscunstances otherwise is ok, how good it is to draw it early mid and late game, and lastly cards that are good but more win-more, example if you are in black green creatures and have [[triumph of the horde]] then [[Beastmaster Ascencion]] can be win-more
Suggestions on a good "gates" commander?
Do you like sultai? Cuz there's 2 good ones in gbu

Hello, I've built deck for mh3. What do you think about it? I will play it in casual / high-power casual
Anyone ever seen a dihada, binder of wills as a legendary token deck?
I’m thinking of building a text-restricted tribal deck, either dragons but am having a hard time finding what restriction I should use. I thought of dragons with “when” or “whenever” but I think I might do dragons that can’t fly
How’s this for a WIP Korvold deck?
How's this for my completed deck?
Though I do plan to swap in [[Shark Typhoon]] and [[Chrome Host Seedshark]]
Haven't actually built the deck yet
What discerns Magda, brazen outlaw from edh to Cedh? I’m planning on having the clock of omens combo regardless of power level and I also plan to win immediately once I go infinite
Maybe a silly question... I have a Fallen Empires [[Hymn to Tourach]] and Ice Age [[Demonic Consultation]] in my binder, and I reeeeally want to use them for something. For nostalgia and coolness.
What kinds of edh decks could the fit into? I have a Dimir Reanimator/Steal deck where Hymn might be fun...?
Not the Demonic Consultation/Thassa's Oracle combo, please.
I guess if you really want to you can simply run demonic consultation as a very janky, risky tutor
Like, demonic consultation simply isn't a great card outside of comboing with it.
there is a very real chance that it just kills you if you try and use it "fairly"
there are a few janky options that want you to have an empty library that aren't thoracle or labman/jace or whatever. [[Out of the Tombs]] could fit that reanimator style you were going for. [[Ormos, Archive Keeper]] becomes a big beater I guess?
Enchantment
At the beginning of your upkeep, put two eon counters on Out of the Tombs, then mill cards equal to the number of eon counters on it.
If you would draw a card while your library has no cards in it, instead return a creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield. If you can't, you lose the game.
As for Hymn of Tourach, idk if it really fits into reanimator, as the results are random and I wouldn't count on your opponents to have valuable creatures for you to reanimate. You should be bringing those yourself. There are a few discard centric commanders like Tergrid or Tinybones you could try, although those are generally rather hated.
Hah, thanks! Very janky options indeed 😄
I know they aren't that great, so thank you for your suggestions 🙂
Any suggestions for adds and cuts for this deck? Seems like I'm going for a go wide/poison strategy
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Yv3isazIK0qafNbkrri03g
I need some help making some cuts, anyone have any suggestions? https://www.moxfield.com/decks/9pS2swWHwEaIzINMWdf-eA
Need feedback with a deck I haven't seen anyone do on edhrec
I also tried to not use edhrec so I might miss some cards (will fix mana base last)
https://www.archidekt.com/decks/7862671/mazzy
Is there even a way to make a [[Hidetsugu and Kairi]] Clone based deck that doesn't turn into Solitaire after you get one clone spell out?
Legendary Creature — Ogre Demon Dragon
Flying
When Hidetsugu and Kairi enters the battlefield, draw three cards, then put two cards from your hand on top of your library in any order.
When Hidetsugu and Kairi dies, exile the top card of your library. Target opponent loses life equal to its mana value. If it's an instant or sorcery card, you may cast it without paying its mana cost.

So, I was playing some games of commander with my friends. And by the third (and final) game, my brain was totally fried by all the stuff going on in my deck.
I'm curious if anyone can suggest something simple (but still precon-level competitive) that I can pick up and still have a good time with? For those evenings where we want to get another game in, but I don't have the mental capacity for anything complicated.
I finally got my hands on Etali primal conqueror. I know it has a home in my Dino deck but I'm having a hard time deciding what to cut. Any thoughts?
Right now I'm leaning towards itzquinth or wayward swordtooth. But I'm also not great at deckbuilding
Has anyone here made a [[frank horrigan]] edh deck that isn't infect?
Legendary Creature — Mutant Warrior
Trample
Agent Frank Horrigan has indestructible as long as it attacked this turn.
Whenever Agent Frank Horrigan enters the battlefield or attacks, proliferate twice. (To proliferate, choose any number of permanents and/or players, then give each another counter of each kind already there.)
8/6
+1 counters seems like it would work very well, maybe even a few planes walkers for fun
Maybe a [[hamza]] deck
That's a great idea! I was thinking [[Krenko, Mob Boss]] might be pretty easy going too.
Fueled by hatred I want to make the most toxic blue deck I can
how would I achieve this
I really want to make a temur energy deck. Its a play pattern I wasnt around for when it was in vogue and I wanted to make a commander deck themed around it. But I cant select a commander!
I'd never played with energy before but I've read quite a lot about the newest cards.
As I understand it, it'd benefit from proliferate and copy effects to double the energy gain from the first clause of many energy cards
Oh hey ynow what just got a fuck load of support in mh3? Energy counters! And the best cards for it are still in green unfortunately lol
Wdym just run all the counterspells and have baral as the commander, no one will ever sit at a table with you until you switch that deck out lol
Made golgari energy
Yooo
Here’s my [[red terror]] voltron(?) deck. I don’t own All Will Be One or I would throw it in.. but for now here’s something
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/02huJvCKRUSR6TKj1TlqXQ What do you think about this abomination of a deck?
Hi! I'd like to ask about bigger brains opinion about my self-made commander deck. thanks in advance! https://archidekt.com/decks/7716865/how_to_train_urdragon
[[ruxa]] is great for this
Legendary Creature — Bear Druid
Whenever Ruxa, Patient Professor enters the battlefield or attacks, return target creature card with no abilities from your graveyard to your hand.
Creatures you control with no abilities get +1/+1.
For each creature you control with no abilities, you may have that creature assign its combat damage as though it weren't blocked.
4/4
Just play green creatures and swing at people, combat tricks are about as complex as your gonna get generally
Looking for advice on this. Also, check out my “considering” part pls
That does indeed sound extraordinarily simple! Can something like that actually win in a precon-level pod? My assumption is that it will quickly could easily fall behind.
Looking to make the last 5 cuts from the Graveyard Overdrive precon, not sure what though as I don't want to make the creature count too low and I'm happy with the amount of removal.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/dXZi8V6xNUOOj29Qx5-o-g
Most of what I've added is removal as the initial deck was lacking, and a few things I pulled from prerelease
Think the new [[detectives phoenix]] be good in a [[dogmeat]] auras deck?
Enchantment Creature — Phoenix
Bestow—
, Collect evidence 6. (To pay this bestow cost, pay
and exile cards with total mana value 6 or greater from your graveyard.)
Flying, haste
Enchanted creature gets +2/+2 and has flying and haste.
You may cast Detective's Phoenix from your graveyard using its bestow ability.
2/2
Legendary Creature — Dog
When Dogmeat enters the battlefield, mill five cards, then return an Aura or Equipment card from your graveyard to your hand.
Whenever a creature you control that's enchanted or equipped attacks, create a Junk token. (It's an artifact with "
, Sacrifice this artifact: Exile the top card of your library. You may play that card this turn. Activate only as a sorcery.")
3/3
Well its a mono color green deck so a bit, but also generally its been a decent competitor when I played it. The ability to just get the creatures back is super nice, but the real threat is the evasion the commander gives everything. Combined with going wide and tall means you are just a constant threat as a easy turn cards sideways deck
Thanks! I will check it out 🙂
Very budget and casual deck. Open to recommendations
Got gifted a ellevere court for the wild virtue and valor precon for my birthday last month and have been really getting into commander
It’s a green white selesnya and I’ve found that I kinda like playing with gylwain more as he feels easier to scale and get value with
Does anyone have any recommendations for upgrades or things I should switch in?
The deck as is seems pretty good but it does feel like I can’t do much outside combat step
I wanna add in a [[null elemental blast]] because it looks cool and has the interaction I’m looking for, but the mana type seems restrictive
Need cuts! Frank Horrigan Energy Counters
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/byxyHV3gSUms0pvBkwAS-w
Do you run a sol ring, arc sig, any of those new fetchlands? Or even do you run the type specific filter lands
Cause they’re
and add
,
,

Can be solved by those or myriad landscape
I’ll be honest I’m so new I don’t entirely know what a fetch land is. Are those ones like myriad landscape where you sac it to put something on to the battlefield tapped?
[[wooded foothills]]
I forgot what those new lands were called, not the proper fetchlands but the glorified evolving wild lands
I have sol ring and arcane signet yeah, it’s just primarily the virtue and valor precon, but now that I’m starting to crack mh3 boosters just curious about adding in stuff
[[twisted landscape]]
One of these
Yeah it’s got a couple here and there
A paradise Druid wouldn’t be able to tap and bring it out would they?
Ehh it wouldn’t work very well I only have like 6 cards that can give me that
Ah well back to the drawing board
Landscapes
What are the unintended consequences of [[War’s Toll]]
It was initially in my feather the redeemed deck and it kinda backfired on the whole table, we all started fighting eachother
It was supposed to be a pump spell deck and then i dropped this piece and we all started swinging
Well, does your deck have enough explicitly colorless sources?
I mean, what was the intention of adding it in the first place?
[[herigast]] [[Chiss-Goria, Forge Tyrant]] or [[Imskir]? Which one do you think is gonna be more fun to play?
Legendary Creature — Eldrazi Dragon
Emerge

(You may cast this spell by sacrificing a creature and paying the emerge cost reduced by that creature's mana value.)
When you cast this spell, you may exile your hand. If you do, draw three cards.
Flying
Each creature spell you cast has emerge. The emerge cost is equal to its mana cost.
6/6
Legendary Creature — Dragon
Affinity for artifacts (This spell costs
less to cast for each artifact you control.)
Flying, haste
Whenever Chiss-Goria, Forge Tyrant attacks, exile the top five cards of your library. You may cast an artifact spell from among them this turn. If you do, it has affinity for artifacts.
5/4
[[Imskir]]
Legendary Creature — Demon
Affinity for artifacts (This spell costs
less to cast for each artifact you control.)
When Imskir Iron-Eater enters the battlefield, you draw X cards and you lose X life, where X is half the number of artifacts you control, rounded down.

, Sacrifice an artifact: Imskir deals damage equal to the sacrificed artifact's mana value to any target.
5/5
Only about 6-7 cards total produce it so I would have to make some changes
alternatively, just look for another spell lol
idk if it's worth it to cram this one spell in
Like don't get me wrong, it's cool, but not every deck is gonna be able to run it reliably. If your deck would otherwise prefer colored mana, then it might be worth to search for other interaction spells
and I think most of your creatures and auras require colored mana, so trying to stuff mre colorless sources in might end up hurting your deck
It was mostly leftovers from my last deck which was goading stuff but it ended up along side smoke and I decided “its some insurance that I don’t have to worry about reach/flying”
Then when in practice it became a not super fun jank piece
I probably should stick back in norn’s annex
But then it kinda did its thing, no? People swung at each other and so your path is open.
I mean, I agree it's not a great fit for a feather deck necessarily, but I'm more so kinda surprised people actually ended up swinging at each other, because my experience tends to be the opposite, unless it's played in a goad deck
I would probably end up not swinging at all if it means I can't hold up defenses against your commander. It only really makes sense if there's some other piece that forces me to attack
Alternatively, it just makes me want to come for you
I think a better way to get around chump blockers is to just give your commander trample and double strike and all that jazz, that usually does the trick too
Yea it did send a lot of poeple at me and it unexpectedly comboed off of my friends enchantment ghostly propoganda
Probably will get cut, it does its job well or really awfully
If anyone is around and has more extensive knowledge than me I could use some info. I've acquired thornbite staff and slobad iron goblin and I was wondering if there's a good monored payoff for those two cards in my red artifact recursion commander deck featuring Daretti scrap savant? Thanks in advance
anyone willing to help me with a brew in vc? (budged around 100$ casual seven)
[[spine of ish sah]] would allow you to wrath your opponent's creatures?
However, I'd likely recommend pairing the staff with a better tap effect than Slobad. Goblin Welder (or the cheaper cousin Goblin Engineer) are great, Steel Overseer can be good depending on number of arrtifact creatures.
Yeah, I've got it in already. I was hoping for something combo-able?
Hey gang! I don't have the most bandwidth, but I am going to be getting cards for a new deck built around [[Narset, Enlightened Exile]]. I have a deck list made with a lot of maybeboard inclusions atm.
https://archidekt.com/decks/6495572/gimme_that_spell
What changes should I consider? The goal is to have it be threatening in a casual environment.
Legendary Creature — Human Monk
Creatures you control have prowess.
Whenever Narset, Enlightened Exile attacks, exile target noncreature, nonland card with mana value less than Narset's power from a graveyard and copy it. You may cast the copy without paying its mana cost.
They called her unique insight a "gift." Then she saw the truth, and suddenly it was a "threat."
3/4
I want to avoid infinite combos or hyper lethality. Are there cards I should consider cutting in that aim?
Extra Turns.
In casual?
Extra turn combo decks are a mood killer.
I've started deciding that I scoop the moment the second extra turn triggers. Either they got the win and we'll figure that out after another >20 game actions, or they don't and we've spent ages seeing how they didn't land a W.
Would anyone care to look over my deck and the “considering” folder to see if there’s anything I should remove/add?
If you’re going for a casual deck I’d recommend picking a different commander because if you aren’t doing broken things with her it kinda ruins the entire point of her as a commander
Yeah that's what I've landed on.
It's one of those commanders that has no proper home. It's too sweaty for casual, and does fuck-all to build a two-card win condition in Competitive EDH.
Did you decide on another commander?
At least it has blue in the identity so you won't be completely pointless in cEDH.
I'm looking to make a 'Univeseres Within' proxy of [[Ian Malcolm, Chaosetc]]
Legendary Creature — Human Scientist
Whenever a player draws their second card each turn, that player exiles the top card of their library.
During each player's turn, that player may cast a spell from among the cards they don't own exiled with Ian Malcolm, Chaotician, and mana of any type can be spent to cast it.
"You've heard of chaos theory?"
2/2
That seems fun. Almost group hug. You can guarantee 4 triggers every cycle with howling mine
That's the plan so far! And [[faerie mastermind]]
Mana hungry but good to use on the endstep before my turn.
And yeah, Group Hug is were joy lies in casual EDH IMO.
You could run stuff like [[Teferi’s Ageless Insight]] to get more advantage than your opponents too
Has anyone here tried making a boros partner deck with two of the small partner commanders, for example Yoshimaru/Rograkh, Yoshimaru/kediss, Rograkh/keleth? If so could I hear some impressions?
I have a Yoshimaru/Jeska deck I absolutely LOVE. Dedicated it to my late dog Yoshi and Jeska representing my wife. It's a fun deck with a lot of interaction and Tron's out big damage
Yeah looking at most of the more popular boros partner combos and they seem generally lean into voltron
This is my Yoshi-Jeska deck list. It isn't perfect but I have fun playing it! https://www.moxfield.com/decks/YoVRHOp4g0SZf0zwqC0h2Q
I was thinking Rog/keleth for pairing as it still makes for an aggresive pairing but less eggs all in one basket
But tbh it might be smarter to build it fast and aggressive
Are auras not really worth it?
Something that Boros benefits from is that people usually underestimate what you can do, since it is generally considered a weaker color combo. I find that getting really agressive with this deck I can usually kill the table on turn 4-5 while going fairly under the radar. The other big benefit is most of the boros partners are low CMC so you can play less lands which opens up more potential for combos!
I assume you largely win through big swings by big yoshi swings win jeska damage?
Jeska Damage (one turn game ender with Yoshi, Jeska and Keddis which is my main wincon ), Heliod/Walking Ballista combo, Godo Helm Combo, and sometimes even just big yoshi with chandra's ignition.
Just got back from my LGS. Always a ravenous ride piloting this deck.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/BGDgyuADQ0S2xA_BvpjEHA
anyone mind review my dinsaur and vampire decklist? please @ me with commentary
I'd recommend more ramp, you have a lot of high mana cards that will be hard to access without the necessary mana, if you want to play this many high cost cards [[Up the beanstalk]] should be a definite include
Does anyone have a solid list that just causes table chaos?
Ive played a heavy amount of spelltable with this “janky” PL 7/8ish rakdos artifact combo deck that looks to do daretti style things while fueling chaos through board wipes and Zoyowa triggers, its an active build that sees lots of change based off cards owned and what seems fun to test.
Not for everyone, but fun to pilot.
could anyone review my deck for fundamental or interesting additions
Making Discard Enjoyable (ft the Bones)
Hey, I’m trying to make a tinybones deck that tries to accomplish forcing both draw and discard to get value from cards like [[Liliana’s Caress]] and [[Underworld Dreams]]. I’m hoping that it creates a more enjoyable play experience at more casual powered tables. Win cons would include amassing black mana with cards like [[Cabal Coffers]] [[Rain of Filth]] [[Bubbling Muck]] and a full hand discard like [[Mind Slicer]] or [[Myojin of Night’s Reach]] for mass ping effects and [[Tinybones, Trinket Thief]] activations. Please let me know what you think!
Decklist: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/1oUqj-tY2kKW2gxcn8ZkNA
What is my deck missing?
What should I remove
I’m thinking of removing one plains to put in either [[maze of ith]] or [[halo fountain]]
Can I get a power level approximation?
Second draft-ish. Planning on swapping certain cards because they’re either not fast enough or don’t really belong. Ie, ancient stone idol, elsepeth suns champion and also had a hard time tracking down the draw pump spells
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/NDgvcEkop0yeKXiUxsTVDA
Its a 10 for most people because reading the card(s) explain nothing
I’m leaning on 6 but after seeing it pop off sometimes i think it may be a low 7
Hello! I'm a new player and I'm trying to build a deck with Ajani as my commander, focusing on his +0 ability. Does this look like a cohesive deck that can work? And how can I improve on it?
Trying to think of brewing [[Amalia Benavides Aguirre]], do you guys have suggestions on how to be able to drop the abundance of lands in your hand to the battlefield from the explore triggers?
Legendary Creature — Vampire Scout
Ward—Pay 3 life.
Whenever you gain life, Amalia Benavides Aguirre explores. Then destroy all other creatures if its power is exactly 20. (To have this creature explore, reveal the top card of your library. Put that card into your hand if it's a land. Otherwise, put a +1/+1 counter on this creature, then put the card back or put it into your graveyard.)
2/2
Any suggestions on what to change? I feel like I might have too many lands.
What about [[Duelist's Heritage]]
Or [[Drumbellower]]
But you'd have to decide what you wanna change it for. But it's a good card
It's alright. I do question a few things. Like high market, and hall of helioid's Generosity. They seem rather odd for this deck. Rider of the mark and the entire human package seems odd. It would likely be more cohesive if you swapped those for cats rather then being pulled between two different Kindred themes. (Or just. Do full human since I'm pretty sure that's just better at swarming the board. If the +0 is all you care about)
Ojer doesn't really make much sense. You don't have much non-combat damage. And the most reliable source of it. Your commander doesn't care if ojer is on field, You're gonna have more then 4 creatures lot of the time. And just impact tremors and friends should be able to pull you across the finish line on their own.
And what's with kiki-jiki? You don't have combo pieces with it and nobody will see it as a fair card. You'll draw a lot of heat just by trying to play it fairly.
Even then, You don't have many things you'd want to copy for a turn.
Other then those few things. The biggest thing should probably be to focus on either humans or cats so you can use Kindred effects more easily (you can find a lot on scryfall by searching "choose a creature type" and filtering by colors.
And. Well you probably need more ramp and card Draw.
Claim jumper, loyal warhound. Magus of The wheel. And reforge the soul would help this deck a lot.
Best of luck in your deckbuilding journey
Thanks for the reply, im using high market as one possible sac outlet for a cat to flip ajani just incase i have no chance to get rid of the my cats naturally - this is also why im using goblin bombardment and ashnod's altar. I'm using token generating humans to swarm the board for ajani's +0/purphoros/impact tremors/warleaders call but i also want to keep the token generating cats so i have more chances of flipping ajani. I thought my deck depended alot on my enchantments as well so i put in heliod's generosity as a possible way to get my enhancements back incase they were removed by other players. Focusing on cats in red/white was difficult for me as they dont really swarm the board much and the red cat options are quite bad but if i go pure humans then the only cats I will have is the cat warrior token that Ajani creates on ETB. I have 2 combos with kiki jiki which are kiki jiki + felidar guardian and kiki jiki + combat celebrant. What cards do you suggest I replace riders of the mark and Ojer for? I also wanted to include hot guys and cat dads in my deck thats why i skipped goblins
Tbh hot guys and cat dads are a totally valid reason to include the cards.
For the swaps. Probably just the ramp/card Draw I suggested earlier.
And ah. I think I just missed those combos. My bad. Totally fair to keep it in.
Do be prepared for how that might affect how people see your deck though. If the combo is a lot better then the gameplan of the rest of your deck. Your opponents might see it as less of a fun token deck and more of a combo deck in a trenchcoat
Thanks, sure i'll keep the advice about kiki jiki in mind. Are there any other better token generators for humans/cats I can use? Or am i running sufficient token generators for what im trying to do
[[orthion, hero of lavabrink]] would this guy be good in my deck?
Legendary Creature — Human Soldier

I'm not sure. Admittedly I haven't played much boros tokens.
Your best bet would be either looking on EDHrec. Sorting by theme > token > boros. Then looking for specificly human/cat tokens creators.
Or on scryfall. Look up "cat token" or "human token". Filter by red/white commander identity. and sort by EDHrec rank to help you find the best stuff fastest
Probably not. Orthion really wants to copy larger creatures since they keep their exact stats and effects. You just care about number of creatures. So there's better you can do for 9 mana
Oh!
Increasing devotion. That's a good token card
what if i copy a mondrak/ojer taq/sun titan or maybe the ETB token generators?
ok thanks i'll see if i can free up space for it
That would be great!
But. Those are only 3 cards in the deck. There's not a high chance you'll be able to get any benefit at all out of him. So most of the time he'll just sit in your hand or on field and you'll never want to use him.
It's better to measure cards by how good they often are rather then how good they can be
alright thanks!
im looking to make a one-piece themed edh deck but cant find a good commander that matches with what Monkey D. Luffy is as a character. No legendary pirates are in white and I feel like that is Luffy's main color in the psychology sense.
obviously red is based around freedom but luffy also doesnt like destruction so im caught in this sort of hole between what colors he would be
red white
no pirates in white
Pls gimme advice fellow magic nerds
ok human chilchuck
I personally really like it tall man chilcuck
Thank u
Would someone be willing to take a second look at my Omo deck?! I really enjoy it but would love a second opinion. I started playing last year and feel my deck building skills need a little work. Feel free to recommend any changes to make the deck run smoother! https://www.moxfield.com/decks/cgBCA3H9GkeI_23GNuqPkg
The idea is to benefit from the tribal synergy that Omo provides while putting as many lands into play as possible. I leaned more into tutoring for lands instead of landfall to get the lands I need immediately.
I’m still pretty new to the game, I’ve been playing since February and have loved every second of it with my commander precons, but I wanna branch out into finally building my own decks. Would anyone be willing to look at my Talrog deck that I’ve been brewing? I decided to go for a landfall strategy because I’ve loved using cards that Tatyova and Evolution Sage in my simic deck. I also noticed the opportunity to sac creatures instead of lands so I decided to also integrate a minor sacrifice payoff engine. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/4EW4klZlIkW09KkTTPN7iA
Any suggestions for this slapped together Knights Templar deck? https://www.moxfield.com/decks/qPbCsJaijUCmeeo6gt8ctQ
Just brewed this for a tournament, I'm looking a card to swap for Kutzil, any recommendations?
as a budget alternative to grand abolisher
im trying to make "barkeeper/innkeeper typal" where every card takes place in a bar/tavern or has some flavor in that sense. Stuff like [[disrupt decorum]] would probably fit because it looks like it takes place in a bar. You get the idea. Im trying to find a good commander for this and I feel like my best option is [[rocco street chef]]
Legendary Creature — Elf Druid
At the beginning of your end step, each player exiles the top card of their library. Until your next end step, each player may play the card they exiled this way.
Whenever a player plays a land from exile or casts a spell from exile, you put a +1/+1 counter on target creature and create a Food token. (It's an artifact with "
,
, Sacrifice this artifact: You gain 3 life.")
2/4
Should I add some more treasure makers
Need to add Godo, Helm of the Host, and Neheb for sure..
Love it.
I’ve been working on a “teaching” sort of theme. Professors, teachers, mentors, academics, etc.
Have you seen the 2 white saga-based teachers from Dr who precon?
One gives sagas replicate and the other gives them readahead
Does orthion in the 99 need really powerful ETB effects to be good? Or does he work well with token ETB/LTB token generators like [[siege-gang commander]] and [[mogg war marshal]]
I've never seen orthion but I'd be shocked if it needed the top of the line stuff it seems really versatile
Should I remove the +1 counters synergy in the deck? I feel like I’m just shoehorning it in. If I remove it, I can throw in cards like [[angel of glory’s rise]] and [[reverent hoplite]]
Creature — Human Soldier
When Reverent Hoplite enters the battlefield, create a number of 1/1 white Human Soldier creature tokens equal to your devotion to white. (Each
in the mana costs of permanents you control counts toward your devotion to white.)
"Zeal is the sharpest blade, and piety the strongest shield."

in the process of updating my deck, I have made a human deck with both adeline and greymond and would say its better to go for the wider strategy then +1+1 counters
its a little too slow when your guys are so little most of the time
think most important humans would be adeline, odric, and if its in budget id def add a greymond
loran is great synergy with mangera because it can trigger your extra card draw and it shoots stuff on etb
im a big fan of the tap thalia to let you swing in
if youre very committed to +1+1 counters Mikaeus pre zombie would be amazing
I've been having a good time working on my new deck
Definitely looking forward to building it
Working on finishing my friends Boros Angel tribal deck, need to make some cuts. Subthemes include Goad and Lifegain, aside from Angel beatdown, there are some combo wincons including Aurelia combats and Book of Exalted Deeds + Haven/Mutavault to create a platinum Angel land. Sideboard cards are cards that may or may not go into the deck, as my friend has a bit of money issues and I’m not sure if he’s interested in proxying
Hello, i have one card to cut from my cedh kinnan deck. Can you help me? https://www.moxfield.com/decks/0fKOzFCQUEi_jidZLb_GBA
Gut reaction is thorn mammoth
I'm building a deck where the whole premise is "I can't believe that's EDH legal" where it includes cards like [[goblin game]] and [[space beleren]]. Does anyone know what a good commander option would be for this deck?
Sorcery
Each player hides at least one item, then all players reveal them simultaneously. Each player loses life equal to the number of items they revealed. The player who revealed the fewest items then loses half their life, rounded up. If two or more players are tied for fewest, each loses half their life, rounded up.
Legendary Planeswalker — Jace
Space sculptor (Space Beleren divides the battlefield into alpha, beta, and gamma sectors. If a creature isn't assigned to a sector, its controller assigns it to one. Opponents assign first.)
+1: Creatures in each sector can be blocked this turn only by creatures in the same sector.
−1: Put a +1/+1 counter on each creature in the sector of your choice.
−5: Destroy all creatures in the sector of your choice.
Loyalty: 3
Thinking of building a tivit seller of secrets deck but also am wondering if anyone knows another wub commander that is less detectable
Im thinking of a hullbreaker horror wincon with extort+rock bouncing
grenzo, adarkar valkyrie, angelic guardian, geode rager, holy cow, komainu battle armor, mangara, sunblast angel, winshaper planetar, lightning bolt, kabira takedown, lightning helix, outnumber, crawlspace, staff of compleation, hearth and home, from the rubble
This deck desperately needs card draw at the moment, dont necessary want to kill the goad baby but theres too much stuff going on to support it. Theres a lot of angels, and none of the goad really help angels and none of the goad really help angels. Theres some cute ones you could keep because theyre alright spells. Think I would choose either the lifegain or the goad theme if possible, at the moment this deck is too reliant on top decks and is pulled in many directions which are made worse by the lack of card draw. Its nice to have combos but I think it will be reliant on top decks, and if played in a pod will probably lead to you getting targeted without necessarily earning it since the rest of the deck does not match the power of the random i win combos
The goad subtheme doesn’t help the angels, just makes it easier to kill people w them. I think it’s is at its best with Gisela around, that’s for sure.
Does anyone have experience with [[Khârn the Betrayer]]? And maybe could share some cool deck lists 🙂
Legendary Creature — Astartes Berserker
Berzerker — Khârn the Betrayer attacks or blocks each combat if able.
Sigil of Corruption — When you lose control of Khârn the Betrayer, draw two cards.
The Betrayer — If damage would be dealt to Khârn the Betrayer, prevent that damage and an opponent of your choice gains control of it.

I dont disagree that goad has potenital in Gisela, but I believe it is a bit hard to split the deck between angels, lifegain, goad, and occasional burn while still eating your veggies to make the deck run smoothly
That’s fair, so you’re suggesting to just stick with 3-4 goad payoffs for the deck, since they’re less of a necessity?
Like maybe just the mass goads should be good enough?
Or would you just pick between the lifegain or the goad subtheme?
I think stuff like taunt from the ramparts is good enough to just stay in the deck, as it lets you probably just kill someone with gisela and not lose on the crackback. Seize the spotlight is okay. I think spectacular showdown is too likely to backfire, unless youre just using it as a way to give gisela double strike. Disrupt decorum is ok. Take the bait is ok. I would probably drop the rest
Hey friends! I have a special request! I need some help with a long time passion project of mine. I'll link the post here, but I'd love any eyes I can get on it. I like creative win cons, and I want to play grimgrin in a way I haven't seen before. Thanks for your help in advance! https://discord.com/channels/574711449566445603/1256880423674445824
Makes sense. I do like Grenzo as a goad enabler because most of my creatures are pretty evasive so they’re likely to connect so I can goad a lot of creatures for low mana
I might try and convince my friend to use proxies so he can use a Trouble in Pairs for a lot of card draw but not sure what I would take out for it
i got it down to 100 now, what do you think
Is there anything wrong with the hullbreaker horror infinite mana combo in edh? The wincon i was gonna do was:
Bounce my rocks for infinite mana
Get color fixing
Death by extortion
It was going to be an alt win con for a tivit deck that i was going to construct
I feel like it might be too much especially if I tutor for the combo
This sounds so so fun my immediate thought is [[aragorn the uniter]] just on value, but I think what you're asking for is a silly themed commander I'd say [[garth one eye]] unless you're only using the color identities you've shown you'll probably have to go for a lot of colors to get the gimmick you're going for
Legendary Creature — Human Noble
Whenever you cast a white spell, create a 1/1 white Human Soldier creature token.
Whenever you cast a blue spell, scry 2.
Whenever you cast a red spell, Aragorn, the Uniter deals 3 damage to target opponent.
Whenever you cast a green spell, target creature gets +4/+4 until end of turn.

Legendary Creature — Human Wizard
: Choose a card name that hasn't been chosen from among Disenchant, Braingeyser, Terror, Shivan Dragon, Regrowth, and Black Lotus. Create a copy of the card with the chosen name. You may cast the copy. (You still pay its costs.)
A humble appearance belies a master's skill.

I think garth Fits the theme quite well and going in 5 colors sounds fun
I gotta find more stupid cards now
Link me when/if you finish the deck!
I will 🫡
So far it's just the 2 cards
I wonder if there is a scryfall tag for "complicated" or "wordy"
if youre building for casual Id probably pick between going cedh or avoiding combos. Youre going to catch a lot of heat playing a CEDH commander and it wont really help if youre effectively attempting to combo people out with the tutor suite just with a worse target than time sieve
looks better but I think it still needs some work on draw, boros is super rough without cards in hand. stuff like chivaleic alliance, jeskas will, demand answers
speaking from experience playing lots of mono white outside of equipment or tokens you kinda have to take what you can get. Red has some alright stuff that could enable some mild GY synergies or you could stick to stuff like firemane avenger and chivalric alliance that reward attacking
you could always resort to secret rendezvous and friends if it comes down to it, I try to use it as a last resort though
is there another
commander that isn't cedh that wont pop off until it does?
actually i might run [[alela, artful provocator]]
even then my goal is to win without tivit, provided he lays on the board it will be a problem but the gameplan is to smoke and mirrors all the heat on tivit then the hullbreaker horror death by extortion combo. that might be the casual questionable aspect as it's smoke and mirrors and not direct in the way that it wins with the information that you're presented with
I had built her as a vehicles deck. It was ok
Makes sense. I think I have enough card draw as is (currently I have Wojek Investigator, Battle Angels, Firemane Commando, Mangara, new Aurelia, Seize the Spotlight, Herald’s Horn, Staff of Compleation and Grenzo to an extent), but I will find a spot for Firemane. I cut her initally cause I thought she was a weaker version of [[aurelia, the law above]].
@keen eagle
Oh wait I was thinking of a different card
I already have Firemane Commando in the deck already
[[firemane commando]] [[firemane avenger]]
Yeah avenger doesn’t draw cards
Commando does and I have her already
Also, if my friend is willing to proxy, I was planning on cutting [[inspiring overseer]] for [[trouble in pairs]], which is a fantastic card for this style of deck
Enchantment
If an opponent would begin an extra turn, that player skips that turn instead.
Whenever an opponent attacks you with two or more creatures, draws their second card each turn, or casts their second spell each turn, you draw a card.
Together, they're greater than the sum of their rap sheets.
I would not count wojek (depends on a full turn cycle plus 2 mana), mangara(controlled by opponent), Aurelia(controlled by opponent), seize(controlled by opponent), heralds (inconsistent), and grenzo (you dont really want other peoples cards if youre in a kindred deck) necessarily towards card draw, you need to have at least a few ways to unconditionally draw a card. Since I cant think of something that will consistently trigger off of aurelia, Im thinking of things along the lines of The One Ring if your friend is okay with proxying or Cut a Deal/Secret Rendezvous. I think Horn of the Mark may be reasonably consistent?
[[horn of the mark]]
Legendary Artifact
Whenever two or more creatures you control attack a player, look at the top five cards of your library. You may reveal a creature card from among them and put it into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
"He that blows this horn shall set fear in the hearts of his enemies and joy in the hearts of his friends." —Éowyn
trouble in pairs is great, wouldnt cut overseer though
esper sentinel if theyre ok with proxying as well
My friend does have a one ring from a bundle, but I think it’s best home is in his artifact deck so I think he’d rather keep it there. Yea he could proxy but
This feels like the same problem as Herald’s horn, too inconsistent or easy to whiff
need to double check your angel count but one in five will be significantly better odds than just the top deck
kinda just what is available in boros though, rough in drawing
I think I’m at about 25 angels atm
Do you think that just adding Trouble in Pairs would give me enough card draw as is?
ah yeah maybe not then
no
you need to have a certain amount of your deck be reliable card draw for the sake of consistency, trouble in pairs is amazing but you wont draw it every game
Fair
I could use some help with mana distribution, basic lands, and ramp. I would like to just use the lands I have on the Sideboard if possible, but if there are budget adds I could acquire that would also work.
Alright I cut Crawlspace for Chivalric Alliance. I’ll cut Windshaper for Trouble if he’s open to that
Those should help cause I personally think inconsistent card draw is better than none at all
